Ginuwine reunites with Timbaland

Yep it's true! After a long hiatus Ginuwine has just announced that he is going back into the studio with Timbaland for his new album. Here's a message via his myspace:

Hey guys!!! My album is coming along very well!!! I just recently finished working with jonta austin, brian michael cox, and adonis!!! Im heading to Miami on the 10th to work with Timbaland!!!! Thats right Timbaland!!!! Stay tuned for more updates!! Feel free to leave questions or comments!

The album will be released in the first quarter of 2009 along with a new single beforehand. No title yet for the project but it will be released on Nofti Records with distribution though Warner Brothers. Longtime friend and collaborator Tank will be executive producing the album. "Everything is still in the works," Ginuwine told Billboard.com. "I don't want to rush anything. I'm just working on various songs and definitely hoping to work with others like Polow da Don and Timbaland. However, at this point I can say the music will reflect a maturing Ginuwine. I'm not the same young man I was when I first got into music. "

Bachelor Part II or synthy pop Part 2,038,039? Let's hope for the former!

Props to Buddha and Big A on the news.

New D.O.E interview

Check it out:

New album coming soon!

T.O.K "Keep It Hush" new Timbaland? No, old.

It was summer 2006 and Timbaland was basking in the glory of his "comeback" with 2 of the biggest albums of that year Loose and Future Sex / Love Sounds. What better way then to give the man his deserved shine than to have him star in his own Diary series on MTV. If you didn't catch it back then, we've all seen it by now and of course what's the number 1 thing we wanted to see or should I say hear? New Timbo music of course and we weren't disappointed. We got Tim and Jay in the studio, Tim and Busta, and even Tim and Danja creating some magic at the end.

Well as true Timbo stans you also noticed the new beats throughout the series. There was a ringtone, the Moka Blu track, and a bunch of others that we've never known what they were from or if they would ever be used.....that is until now.

A "new" Timbaland track has surfaced recently from the Reggae group T.O.K reppin' Jamaica called "Keep It Hush" Check it out:

Boomp3.com

Does the beat sound familiar? It should as it was used in Timbaland's MTV Diary for an opening segment:

As it turns out the the track was meant to be a D.O.E track featuring T.O.K but the this unfinished demo leaked. There are actually 2 different versions of this track (so far) but none are official.....yet. The first is called "Take Ya Ring Off" featuring another Jamaican artist and the 2nd is this unfinished version finished T.O.K which D.O.E hasn't even laid down his verses yet. Maybe one day D.O.E will bless us with the full, real deal until then enjoy!

Props to Bilza for the track and the BIG Big A for the info.

Chris Cornell "Rewind"

Speaking of Chris Cornell in concert, here's a clip of a new song we haven't heard yet called "Rewind"

Chris Cornell & Timbaland Denver: A fan's perspective

The Chris Cornell & Timbaland "Scream" Tour has begun and although Rolling Stone and Spin have their own reviews of the show, we want to hear what you the fans have to say! So hit us up with your personal accounts. Here's Bobby Adan live in Denver:

I was lucky enough to attend the show in Denver this past weekend, and
it didn't disappoint one bit! Dj Freestyle warmed up the crowd and then
Timbo hit the stage. He did about a 45 minute set. He did a variety of
songs, mostly from Shock Value, and a few covers I.E. Justin Timberlake,
and Nelly Furtado. It was very interesting to see such a diverse group
of concert goers sing all the songs with Tim as well. He worked the
crowd well, and had good interaction with everyone. He also let us know
that Shock Value II would be coming to us February 14th, 2009 aka
Valentines Day. After he ended his set with "The Way I R," he played
"talk that shit" from Shock Value 2. Timbo then, after a brief tear down
and set up of sets, introduced Chris Cornell. Chris really just killed
the entire show. He was amazing live, he sounds exactly the way he does
on his recordings. He had a band that was amazing in their own right,
and a mixture of tracked background vocals that enhanced his live
vocals. He opened up with my personal favorite, "Part of Me," and then
proceeded to due the whole album continuously without stopping. PS, the
chorus in Part of Me says "that BITCH ain't apart of me". Various
instrumentation between the songs was brilliantly done to transition
into each song. It ranged from orchestral to trance almost. 'Watch Out"
was another highlight as well as "Scream". His whole album truly is the
perfect mix of hip hop, pop, rock and soul IMO. Chris also stated that
he and Timbaland were making history together with this collaboration.
And another bonus was that when Tim was introducing Chris, he stated
that J Roc and he soley produced the album. J Roc was apart of the band
as well, and interacted with Chris a few times throughout the show too.
Overall, the show was loud, crowded and amazing. I did also find out
that Chris' album had been pushed back to February as well (maybe that
will coincide with Tims release somehow). Unfortunately, we will have to
wait a bit longer, but Chris' LP will definitely be an album any music
lover should have!

After the show, we were waiting for a friend, and standing next to me
was J ROC! I couldn't believe it! I had come prepared with my album in
tow, just in case (lol), and he was kind and gracious enough to talk
with me for a brief moment. I told him he did great work on Chris'
album, and it was an honor to meet him. During the show, Timbaland
stated J Roc was HIS producer, so I thought that was pretty major. He
did state he would take a listen to my album as well, and we parted
ways. Overall the experience was great, and I was so lucky to have gone!
And who knows, maybe ill be the next great act off Mosley Music Group
soon?!!! Lol."

Beyonce's I Am...Sasha Fierce tracklist

The wait is finally over as Beyonce will be releasing her new album I Am...Sasha Fierce on November 18. There will be 2 versions of the album, a 11 track standard version and a 17 track deluxe version divided between pop songs (Beyonce) and urban songs (her alter ego Sasha). Are you laughing yet? I am.

As you remember from the Scratch article last year Timbaland was supposedly producing most of Beyonce's new album. Unfortunately though, according to the tentative tracklisting, none of the Timbaland productions made the final cut. Ryan Tedder of One Republic will have one song "Halo" on the album. Check it:

Beyoncé Disc
1. “If I Were a Boy” (Toby Gad and Beyoncé Knowles)
2. “Halo” (Ryan Tedder and Beyoncé Knowles)

Sasha Disc

Danjahandz Interpolation

Man, its been ages since I took the time to post someting by myself instead of just shooting it over to Boogie. Let's jump right into it tho. Y'all remember the Danjahandz produced and The Clutch penned smash from Chapter 4 (formerly known as 3rd Storee)? Defintely among my favorite songs from Danja by the way. So what happens when you listen to Korean soundtracks (Spring Waltz OST)? Give it a listen:

Tricky and The-Dream closest to being the new Timbo and Static?

For me, second only to Missy Elliott, the late-great Static (I still feel so weird saying that) has to have been one of the greatest r&b songwriters to team up with Timbaland on a consistent basis. The music that they created together was and is unparalleled. Like Tim and Missy, Static and Tim were musically perfect for one another. They just made sense. With Static's passing, it's undeniable that there's obviously a void in music.

With that said, popular music journalist/critic and (after reading his work for the past several years) borderline/full-on Tim stan, Sasha Frere-Jones recently wrote an article in The New Yorker trying to figure out just who in music today seems to be on a similar path that Tim and Static were on in their prime. After going through a list of artists/producers/songwriters like Ne-Yo, Max Martin, Polow, and Danja, Frere-Jones settles on the idea that C. "Tricky" Stewart and Terius "The-Dream" Nash are the closest ones to matching Tim and Static. He's careful not to say that they're the next Tim and Static, but might definitely be on their way to obtaining a similar status.

You can peep the full article here.

Thoughts?

Chris Cornell talks about Education and Gives Us a Glimpse of New Video

Chris Cornell recently shot a promo in support of the organization Strong American Schools, an organization that aims at strengthening the weakening U.S. education system. Check it out:

It seems like this was on the set of "Scream," but we can't say for sure yet. But we'll definitely post the full version of this video when we get it.

Many celebrities and artists like Kanye West, Chuck D, Julia Roberts, and others are joining the fight for education. If you're interested in more info or on how you can help, you can visit www.strongamericanschools.org

Music Video: Chris Cornell - "Ground Zero"

More videos!!! As we posted a couple of weeks ago, Chris Cornell recently shot the music video for "Ground Zero" in Brooklyn. The video was spliced with footage from the new hit ABC show Life on Mars. Check out what Chris told MTV about the video shoot:

We shot it on the street there, and we didn't have any extras or anything," Cornell told MTV News of the video for the September 11-inspired track. "It was really just a small crew and me, and a lot of it's just me on the streets of Brooklyn, intercut with footage from 'Life on Mars.' So it's kind of like I'm in the same neighborhood, and the footage was shot in a way so it can be intercut with footage from the show, which will have a vintage '70s feel to it. And I interacted with people on the street during the shoot, unbeknownst to them, so it was pretty funny. I'd just walk up to people and shake their hand or start talking to them. Everyone was really polite and didn't know what to do. Most of them were just trying to figure out what the hell we were doing down there.

Now peep the full video:

Thoughts? Definitely different than what I imagined, but still a cool vid.

Props to Edo!

Behind the Scenes Pics: Rihanna ft. Justin Timberlake - "Rehab"

Rolling Stone Reviews Tim/Cornell Tour

First we had video footage, now we have an official review of the Verizon Wireless sponsored eight city West Coast tour starring Chris Cornell and featuring Timbo. Rolling Stone recently reviewed the Denver, Colorado concert. Check out what they said about Timbaland's performance:

Barely moving more than a raised eyebrow, Timbaland conducted his hot seven-piece band from James Brown-style groove workouts like “Oh Timbaland” to his underrated house-party anthem “Bounce.”

Barely singing, rapping or even speaking much throughout the songs, the deadpan Timbaland’s main job was to be a presence, holding the crowd’s attention so his super-tight “junkyard band” could do most of the work. Although he tossed out a few songs from his album due in February, he mostly stuck to last year’s Shock Value, including the closing “Throw It On Me,” which recalled OutKast’s propulsive “B.O.B.” and couldn’t help but transition into “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Wow! Seven-piece JB style band?!?!? Tim is definitely trying something new with this live band. And great to hear that Tim previewed some tracks off Shock Value 2! February will be here before we know it.

Unfortunately, Rolling Stone wasn't that impressed with Chris Cornell's performance:

Fortunately, Cornell has enough sex appeal to hold just about any crowd’s attention. He and his low-slung jeans admirably redeemed the new material until the very end. At that point, he did his two best songs, “Watch Out,” a hip-hop-spiced rock anthem that came close to matching Timbaland’s energy, and a stripped-down ballad about loneliness called “Two Drink Minimum.” But if this was a battle of the bands, it was no contest.

Man, as raw as "Two Drink Minimum" is as a studio version, I know it has to be amazing live. Despite the review, I hope all the Tim stans on the West Coast will try to make it out to this concert. And if you can't make it to the concert, definitely stop by one of the Verizon stores where Tim and Chris will be holding a meet-and-greet. Here's another list of those locations:

Oct. 17 2073 S. Colorado Blvd. Denver, CO 80222
Oct. 18 987 W. 500 N Bldg A American Fork, UT 84003
Oct. 19 2040 E. Rio Salado Pkwy. Tempe, AZ 85281
Oct. 24 7300 Arroyo Crossing Pkwy. Las Vegas, NV 89113
Oct. 25 13455 Washington Blvd. Marina Del Rey, CA 90292
Oct. 26 3505 Sports Arena Blvd. San Diego, CA 92110
Oct. 31 150 El Camino Real South San Francisco, CA 94080
Nov. 2 960 Park Ave. North Renton, WA 98057

Keri and Tim Perform at GQ Event

Keri Hilson and Timbaland performed last Wednesday at GQ's Gentlemen's Ball (hosted by GQ Magazine and The Gentlemen's Fund) in New York City. The gala brought a number of celebrities together (Usher, Mark Wahlberg, Steve Nash, and Forest Whitaker) to recognize and help raise money for various charities and organizations that have had a huge effect on issues like the environment, education, mentoriship, and health. Tim and Keri performed "The Way I Are," and the gala also held a silent auction for a private studio tour with Mr. Timothy Mosley himself (every Tim stans' dream). This event definitely gives Keri more publicity, but it's even better that it was for a great cause.

Props to our friends over at http://kerii-hiilson.skyrock.com/ for the heads up!

Nelly Furtado and Demo Reveal Marriage

It's been a minute since we last heard any news about Nelly Furtado, and that might be because she's been enjoying the life of a newlywed. While we all knew that Nelly was engaged to long-time Timbo engineer (and lead engineer on Nelly's album Loose), Demacio "Demo" Castellon, Nelly revealed yesterday on Entertainment Tonight Canada that she and Demo married this past July. She was quoted yesterday by US Weekly and SOHH saying:

"I just feel kind of free and relaxed and more in tune with trying not to be so stressed out...[I'm] trying to enjoy things a little more...[I'm] exicted about the future!"

A warm congratulations from The Chronicles to Nelly and Demo!!! Seems like Nelly is in great place in her life right now. Hopefully Nelly will get back into the studio with Tim, Danja, Demo and the whole crew soon, and crank out something hot!

Czar's Sample of the Week

What's up Tim stans? Today's Friday, and to many who've been down with The Chronicles for a while will remember that Friday's used to mean "Czar's Sample of the Week." And while I've been gone for a minute, I thought it would be a great to showcase a Timbo sample today. It was hard picking one for this week, but I think I found one that you all will hopefully enjoy. Check it out:

Fabolous - "Right Now & Later On" (Alternate)

Everyone knows that our main mission here at The Chronicles is to try to bring y'all all things Timbo, from news to reviews to his affiiates to EVERYTHING. With that, one thing that we pride ourselves on is providing the most accurate discographies of Timbaland and the producers/writers associated with him. And here at The Chroncles, we don't just list the original tracks in the discographies, but we try to include all the various remixes and alternate versions of each track. So with all that said, I thought I'd post an alternate that some people might not know about.

We're all familiar with the 2001 Timbo-produced track "Right Now & Later On" by Fabolous, but I've uploaded it just to refresh everyone's memory:

Boomp3.com

For the longest time, I just assumed this was the only version. But a couple of weeks ago, I heard DJ Envy spinning the record, and as I tried to repeat the opening lyrics, I quickly realized that there was a different intro on the version that Envy was spinning. Turns out, the record that Envy played was originally on the Roc-A-Fella Volume 2 Mixtape hosted by Envy. Check it out:

Boomp3.com

Seems like this version was probably the original, and the intro got cut during the final mixing stages.

So there you go y'all another alternate brought to you by The Chronicles. Holla if you got the non-DJ version of this alternate.

Czar
P.S. I might have a small treat for y'all tomorrow since it will be Friday, and y'all know what Friday means...

Spin Reviews "Scream" and Gives Us Two New Track Titles

Spin Magazine recently reviewed Chris Cornell's Scream album:

Produced with a heavy hand by Timbaland, the third solo album from ex-Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell is strangely appealing in its elaborately empty efficiency. Gleaming ballads like "Long Gone" and the title track wring mild drama from a combination of Cornell's husky crooning and stacks of portentous Phil Collins–derived synths. As Akon knockoffs go, some of this stuff isn't bad, but the fast numbers ("Time," "Get Up"), with Cornell's angsty rock-god vocals ricocheting off Timbo's skittering beats, are fresher and more enjoyable, at least in a monkey-riding-a-tricycle sort of way.

Thanks to this review, we also now know about two new up-tempo tracks off Scream: "Time" and "Get Up." So for those keeping score, that's now 14 known tracks:

-Long Gone
-Scream
-Enemy
-Watch Out
-Never Far Way
-Part Of Me
-Ground Zero
-Sweet Revenge
-Two Drink Minimum
-Take Me Alive
-Other Side of Town
-Climbing Up The Walls
-Time
-Get Up

Hopefully all tracks make it in the end, but only time will tell.

Thanks to Aayize for the heads up.

Hank Shocklee calls out Timbo

UK music, film, fashion, and art magazine Dazed and Confused conducted an interview last month with the legendary hip-hop producer Hank Shocklee (most known for being a founding member of Public Enemy and being part of the Bomb Squad) for their online magazine Dazed Digital.com. While discussing the reunion of the Bomb Squad, his upcoming book, and creativity (or lack thereof) in hip-hop, Shocklee had some choice words regarding Timbaland:

DD: Surely some hip hop producers are still creative – what about, say, Timbaland?
HS: Listen, I know Timbaland from way back. I was one of the first Timbaland supporters before he even did the first Aaliyah album, when he was up in Rochester trying to put together a group called Girl with Missy Elliott. But the stuff he’s doing now, he’s just regurgitating. He’s an assembly line, just cranking it out. He’s just taking a loop, putting it on a tape and putting a vocal on it. Musically, almost everybody’s taking a step backwards today.

Man, I wish we had more info on that whole Rochester scene with Devante. At any rate, thoughts on Shocklee's statements? Has Tim become an assembly line? Let us know!

You can peep the full interview here

UPDATE: Here's a little intro that Keri gives that some of y'all might want to watch (and be sure to check out http://kerihilsonmusic.com/ for more behind the scenes footage):

Wow! Cool concept of the birth of Keri Hilson the artist. I can't wait to see how all the scenes will come together in the final product. And, just in case you missed it, we finally have the new release date of In a Perfect World... DECEMBER 9th! Mark your calendars NOW!

Props to Venture for the heads up.

"Remix It!" Update

Many of you have been asking recently about the status of "Remix It" here on The Chronicles, and we just wanted to let everyone know that because we've received such a HUGE response, we've decided to delay posting the remixes in order to accomodate all submissions. Nick's Sample of the Week

Is it just me, or does Chris Cornell's "Part of Me" sample the cliché and overused staccato synth riff from "Money (Dollar Bill Y'all)" by Jimmy Spicer?

Chris Cornell Talks Timbo

MTV has a lengthy new article about Chris Cornell's brand new album and first single, "Ground Zero."

Some of the highlights:
- The video for "Ground Zero" was shot a few weeks ago in Brooklyn, and it will be intertwined with footage from ABC's Americanized remake of the popular British cop drama "Life on Mars."
- Timbaland did a couple of remixes from Cornell's 2007 album "Carry On."
- "[The album] sounds nothing at all to me like other Timbaland productions."
- He's already conceived another album's worth of material during his sessions with Timbaland. "We have a lot more songs than are on this record, and he's already talking about doing more. Every time we sat down to write a song, we'd come up with something we both really liked."

Question for the readers: What do you think of the commercialism ("Life on Mars" debut, etc.) of "Scream"?

Sugababes and Timbaland run out of time

There was hope that Timmy would be working with UK girl group Sugababes but in the end it all came down to time. Digital Spy recently talked with Sugababes member Amelle about their new album Catfights and Spotlights and the possible collabo with Timbaland:

There were rumours that Timbaland had worked on the album. What happened?

"Well, he approached us while we were making our last album, but we'd literally just finished it and we had no time left - that's the complete truth! I know he wanted to work with us on this album too, but again we had so little time so it just didn't work out because of timings and diaries. Maybe next year we'll make it happen. I'd absolutely love to work with him."

That's 2 strikes already. Hopefully this time next year we'll be posting the new Timbo produced Sugababes banger until then look for the 'Babes new album on October 20.

Frankie J F/ Claude Kelly "Magic" produced by Danja (w/ DJ)

Seems like today is Danja day on The Chronicles. This track has been known about for a long time but we figured it was locked away in the vaults. Guess that's not the case anymore though. Here is what has been rumored to be a demo for Christina Milian called:

"Magic" or sometimes referred to as "Magic Hands"

Hard to believe this is a Danja track but it definitely is. Thoughts?

Props to Tom of The Keepers for the info

Who Flipped It Better? Timbaland Vs. The Legendary Traxsters

In the latest segment of sample flips let's take a look at a very recognizable sample. First up let's go back to 2005 when the Outlawz released their album Outlaw 4 Life: 2005 A.P. (After Pac) and the song "Back To Ballin" produced by The Legendary Traxsters

The sample should be obvious by now right? If not then let's look a year earlier in 2004 when Timbaland used the same sample for Shawnna's debut album Worth The Weight and the crazy joint "Shake That Shit"

Hear the same sample? Who flipped it better?

Of course the bonus is what's the sample but this time I'll give you a hint it comes from a sample CD....at least Timbaland's sample does. If you notice his use of the sample is shorter compared to the The Outlawz's sample which uses a longer sample with added vocals which makes me think it could be the original version that Timbaland's sample CD cut it from.

So extra bonus points if you can name the original sample too.

Melrose calls on Danja

A new girl trio out of Atlanta, Georgia have called on the production skills of B. Cox, Rodney Jerkins, and our man Danja for their debut album. Check out the short Bio on their myspace page.

"So, who is Melrose? They are the answer to what's missing in R&B. Sure alot of people say that, but the proof is there. Just take a look and have a listen. They've got the look, the voices, the personalities, and the SWAG. First there's Toni from Atlanta...the southern belle who is the Melrose Kitten. Then there's Mylah from the Midwest...the cool girl with edge for days. And there's Kelee from LA...the little diva with the huge voice. Not only singers, these girls are writers, dancers, and performers to their core. With hitmaker Adonis behind them, and heavy hitters like Bryan Michael Cox, Rodney Jerkins, and Danja on the tracks, Melrose is definitely poised to take the R&B game by storm! Don't say we didn't warn you!"

Check the track "Ever" which is produced by Danja although it reminds me a lot of Diddy's "Last Night." Vocally the girls are on point, especially their arrangements which are real smooth. Make sure to keep an eye out to see what else these ladies have in store for us!

Timbaland says "I am the new grunge"

A Chronicles Exclusive: More tracks from Chris Cornell's Scream

To date we know the following tracks off of Chris Cornell's eagerly awaited album Scream:

-Long Gone
-Scream
-Enemy
-Watch Out
-Never Far Way
-Part Of Me
-Ground Zero
-Sweet Revenge
-Two Drink Minimum

The Thomas Crown Chronicles has also learned exclusively some additional titles from tracks off the album and they are:

-Take Me Alive
-Other Side of Town
-Climbing Up The Walls

These new tracks all have writing contributions from Jim Beanz with production by J Roc and Timbaland. November 4th is less than a month away so get ready! In addition there is an alternate versions of a Cornell/Timbaland track floating around the internet, have you found it yet?

And on a side note did anyone get that Verizon Chris Cornell EP?

It's Wizz Dumb on Petey Pablo's "Ringtone"

As it turns out rising production star Wizz Dumb has contributed to the new Petey Pablo track "Ringtone" featuring Timbo. Who is Wizz you ask? We've briefly mentioned him before on The Chronicles and he's done a few songs that you might now have known about such as Sebastian's "Booty" and D.O.E "Piano Man." The dude is incredible on the boards and is quietly making a name for himself.

He is also managed by long time Timbaland friend and colleague, Mike Daddy, who also represents Jim Beanz. Check back soon for more on Wizz and the rest of the Sunset Entertainment family.

And take a real close listen to "Ringtone", can anyone make out Timbo's part? Bet you can't!

Kevin Cossum (KC) talks Danja

DanjaHandz's artist KC has finished his Pre-album which will drop either November of 2008 or I could be reading it wrong and it's November 8th, either way it's coming up with production from The Runners, Danja, and more. KC also got a major facelift via his myspace page where you can also listen and download his first single "Compatible" F/ Bali produced by The Runners.

In addition, KC has launched multiple short interview videos via his youtube page including one where he talks about working with Danja:

I've been waiting on this album since I heard "Say Cheese" from the Step It Up 2 soundtrack so it'll be good to hear what he and Danja have come up with. Dude can BLOW no doubt!

Props to Fredrick on the heads up.

Ryan Leslie "Addiction" F/ Fablous and Keri Hilson

Though the video has Cassie for Ryan Leslie's 2nd single "Addiction", he chose Keri to do the chorus for the radio version of the song check it:

Who do you like better on the track: Cassie or Keri?

Also in another case of the replacements, Kardinall Offishall has replaced Rihanna with Keri for the video version of his song “Numba 1 (Tide is High)” also featuring Akon. The video was recently shot and will be out soon. Keri is everywhere these days but will it translate to her own hit album?

Who is James Fauntleroy?

That's been the question everyone's been asking ever since we heard those demo session tracks with Timbaland from last month. Did Timbaland sign him? Where did he come from? Is he a singer or a writer or what? All great questions no doubt. The thing is as is the case with so many talented music writers, you know them by their music and not necessarily by their name. So let's get our music education on.

We've all heard Chris Brown's (featuring Keri) "Superhuman" right? That's Fauntleroy. Jordin Sparks & Brown's "No Air"? Again Fauntleroy. As is Chris Brown's "Lottery" and Usher's "Will Work For Love." See, you've known James Fauntleroy all along.

Fauntleroy is part of the Underdogs family and has been on his grind for a long time and all of us are just now getting the privilege of hearing all that hard work paying off. So how did he end up working with Timbaland and will we be hearing more from the 2? Those are the million dollar questions but from what we've heard so far let's hope so! I bump "Home" nearly everyday. "....I'm in your fridge for ice girl like this is my house..."

So stop by Flossleroy's myspace and give the dude his much deserved props. He's even given The Chronicles some love (thanks homie!). In the meantime check out a few of his demos:

-"No Air" Demo
-"Superhuman" Demo
-Hilarious freestyle with Glenn Lewis (one of the best singers out there don't sleep!)

and many, many more. Let's hope we here more from Fauntleroy and Timbo real soon.

Petey Pablo "Ringtone" (produced by Timbaland!)

A new track by Petey Pablo featuring Timbo has appeared and it's straight HEAT. Take a listen:

Boomp3.com

An actual Timbaland track! No pop, no recycled synths, just a straight up Timbo banger. Petey and Timbo always bring the best out of each other. I wonder if this is the track from our Word Is from last year.

The new look

As you can see The Chronicles got a face lift. Some of you like it and some of you do not but either way the look is here to stay. I have to give special thanks to my friend Rakshith Ashok all the way from India for doing such an incredible job on the new lookout. THANK YOU!!! Let me also give props to Fabio Farraj for all his hard work on the last layout.

We've also added a few things to make the site easier to maneuver:

-The Archives. Almost every single post (there are some you still have to dig for) we've ever written in the last 2 years has a label attached to and you can click on that label on the far right hand column to find all posts associated with it.

-Rare Reels. We'll still do posts on these but you can view the latest ones within The Chronicles homepage just by clicking any of the videos on the far left hand column.

-Chat Room. The Chronicles Couch is available for your chatting pleasure, also on the far left column. Make new friends, call J Boogie names, talk about Timbaland's music, or spread the joys of life, whatever you need to get off your chest go for it.

We're still adding new functions as we go so be on the lookout for more and bare with us as we get the glitches cleaned up.

The New Yorker covers Timbaland

If you know anything about the magazine The New Yorker than it should surprise you that they recently did a story on how Timbaland has changed the music game and full review on Chris Cornell's album Scream. The article itself is nothing mind blowing but it's yet another example of how Timbaland is the greatest producer of our time. Check it out:

When you hear a rhythm that is being played by an instrument you can’t identify but wish you owned, when you hear a song that refuses to make up its mind about its genre but compels you to move, or when you hear noises that you thought couldn’t find a comfortable place in a pop song, you are hearing Timbaland, or school thereof.

So how come so much of their new collaboration, “Scream,” is so awkward? (The album is technically a Chris Cornell record, even though Timbaland’s production dominates.) Some of the mismatch feels purely formal. Timbaland’s métier is the mosaic: points of sound arrayed on digital black. It is literally digital music—sounds that turn on and off, like ones and zeros. (If he’s looking for a rock partner, it seems as though a speed-metal act might best fit Timbaland’s aesthetic.) Cornell works well against a big, unruly band—waves of guitar noise crusted with overtones, bass lines that resonate so heavily that they blur—but against Timbaland’s beats things get confusing.

Neither Cornell nor Timbaland sounds much like himself. When I first heard “Scream,” several months ago in Florida, Mosley’s wife, who is also his publicist, warned me against asking who played on the record. Unpacking the credits for “Scream” might be done best in the company of a lawyer. Here’s one line: “All songs written by Chris Cornell.” There is, however, an average of 4.77 songwriting credits for each song, and mentions of vocal production by Jim Beanz and instruments by Jerome Harmon. Um. “Songs.” O.K.

“Sweet Revenge” gets closer to a happy average. Cornell’s voice is strong, straining at its limits, and there is a sweetly multi-tracked bridge that works well against the rhythm, which percolates. The energy is up. But then comes the chorus, which includes a long Auto-Tuned warbling of the words “sweet revenge.” The robotic sound, aside from being past its sell-by date, could be anybody singing. “Never Far Away” could be one of the worst songs of the year, a rock ballad with all the bombast of Soundgarden yet with none of the heft or the force. The lyrics are like Bon Jovi with the fun sucked out, and could be moonlighting for an e-greeting-card site: “You are the road that I will travel, you are the words I write. You are the ocean I will swallow, you are the wind I ride.” Timbaland rarely puts sounds together in an infelicitous way: so why the swooping synth arpeggios? What we love about Timbaland is that so much of his music evades known templates, but figuring out what is happening on “Scream” is not, in large part, a pleasant hunt.

Madonna's "Miles Away" hits U.S. airwaves

For all you U.S. residents check your local radio stations for Madonna's 3rd single "Miles Away." Three was some speculation to whether or not Madonna would be releasing "Miles Away" or "Beat Goes On" as a U.S. 3rd single and she decided to go with the former. Here is the slightly shorter radio edit version of the song.

Boomp3.com

Also if you haven't checked it out yet be sure to watch (and listen) to the "Get Stupid" Remix Madonna shows during her Sticky & Sweet Tour.

New Timbaland beat or a case of the bites?

Justin Timberlake is the face for Givenchy's new fragrance Play and here he takes us behind the scenes of the photoshoot for the cologne. Take a listen to the track that plays, could that be a new Timbo beat?

Naa Boogie that's just a cheap "Sexyback" knock off. I'm with you but still though, there are a lot of Timbo elements in the track that make me go hmmm. Props to Fabian for the info.

Timstrumental of the Week

We haven't had a Timstrumental in a long time but here we have our first one for a Keri Hilson track. Check out:

Keri Hilson "Return The Favor"

Also here are the credits for the song:

Happy Anniversary TCC!

You know I had to come out of hiding to recognize the second year anniversary of The Thomas Crown Chronicles. I can't even beleve how quickly this site has grown in just two years. J man you really did your thing on this one, and I'm still hornored that you asked me to be a part of this amazing site. So here's to two years, and many more! Shout out to all the TCC crew!!!!

Peace,
C.Z.A...you know I couldn't come empty handed on a celebration like this one:

Boomp3.com

Y'all know I had to do it ;-)

The Chronicles celebrates 2 years!

Welcome to the Thomas Crown Chronicles!

This is the place for the stans, for the conspiracy theorists, for the questionators, and for all those who got love for the genius known as Timbaland. This isn't your average site rather it's a site dedicated to Timbaland producitons past, present, and future and getting the truth about what Timmy has and has not produced.

The Chronicles are only as good as it's writers and that's where all of you come in. If you have some interesting tid bits of info, know any interesting facts on a Timbo production, or simply want to have your say please feel free to comment or send me a write up and I'll make sure it gets posted.

So welcome once again. Get comfortable, get out a pad and paper, and let's talk some Timmy!

I can still remember vividly sitting at my computer typing out that first post 2 years ago looking over the final layout of the blog, a type of website I had just learned about the month prior. I had come up with the idea of starting a blog as a way to share all the Timbaland information, facts, samples, news etc I had dancing around in my head from all the people I had learned from throughout the years. "What am I doing?" I asked myself about 3 or 4 hundred times that day. I didn't (and still don't know) code, I didn't have a set game plan, and I sure didn't know how I was going get people to come to the site. What I did know was I was a longtime fan of Timbaland and I was looking to create a place for others like me to come and talk about the genius of Timbo's music.

2 years later I would have never thought people from every single U.S. state and over 125 countries would stop by to get their daily dose of Timbo and Co. If you question how global music really is just ask the people of The Seychelles or Qatar or Brunei or Palestine and they'll tell you how they too are just as big of Timbaland fans as anyone else.

My thanks goes out to the whole Chronicles team: Big A (who has Timbo tracks we'll never ever hear), Czar (the Timbaland sample master), Roderick (who owns some of the rarest released Timbaland music on earth), and Nick (wait what do you do exactly? ha! j/k), to the Beat Club gang for letting me be your padewan learner for so many years, and last but not least a HUGE thanks to Timbalandchick who paved the way for all of us Timbaland fans.

And as always my gratitude to all the Chronicles readers out there in every country from Uzbekistan to Guadeloupe for their comments, email, and support throughout these 2 years. You make it worth it when I'm up until 4AM on my 19th page of a Google search looking for a that one untouched piece of Timbo news. Happy 2 years ya'll!!!
