After the Supafriends era, I didn't think Timbo was going to find that same chemistry with any other artist. How could there be another Aaliyah or Missy or Ginuwine? Then along came a track called "Ugly" featuring some dude with the name Bubba, wtf? But after one listen I knew that something was brewing. Yet it wasn't until "Lovely" dropped that I knew Timbo was back with a whole new sound and Bubba Sparxxx was paving the way.

Now we've all seen the video for "Lovely" right? Pretty much "Ugly" part II with Bubba reppin' the new south to the fullest.

Bubba & Timbo reunited?

Working with Tim again is a possibility that Bubba is not ruling out and I'm sure Bubba and Timbo fans alike would love to see happen. Bubba has a new record in the works and will be releasing a mixtape Survive Till Ya Thrive August 17th off his label New South. Here's a recent interview with Bubba where he talks about his new project, his growing pains on Purple Ribbon, and the possible future with Polow's Zone 4.

****HHDX: Are you working with Collipark, Organized Noize, Timbaland…
Bubba Sparxxx: Yeah, all the usual suspects. I’ma try to get with Timbaland again. Even though I haven’t spoken to him in awhile, I’ma try to get with Tim. Polow [Da Don] will be on the album. Mr. Collipark, Organized Noize, and I’ma give a lot of up-and-comers a shot this time around. I can bring light to any beat. I don’t necessarily think that for me to have a hit record I need a superstar producer’s name attached to it.

HHDX: Now you mentioned Timbaland. He only produced 1 song on The Charm. And you weren’t on his album, Shock Value. So what is your guys’ relationship at this point?
Bubba Sparxxx: Really, we don’t have one at this point. I know if I see Tim it’s all love. I’ll always have the deepest amount of respect for him. But we don’t speak regularly. He works very closely with Polow. And Polow is like my brother. So I keep up with him thru Polow, and Attitude as well. Attitude is around Tim quite a bit. I keep up with him thru them. And he kinda keeps up with me thru them too.*****

Personally I think Bubba is a classic example of the ups and downs of the music biz. He releases his 1st album with a huge first single by an A list producer. Dude is mad creative, he's got the skills to boot, and gains acclaim from fellow MCs and fans alike. He releases 2 other singles all of which are unique in their own way and help his debut album go Gold.

On his 2nd album, Bubba goes all out with creativity. Bubba and Tim put their heart and soul into Deliverence and they've both said that many times. Though critically lauded as one of the best albums of the year (and one of the best Tim ever produced), commercially the album doesn't do well. Discouraged but still ready to give it a go, Bubba says "alright then if ya'll ain't feelin' me on the conscious tip I'll make some club bangers." He drops "Ms New Booty", track is HUGE, drops solid album, but yet again it doesn't do well by industry standards.

It's a classic example of even if the critics love you that doesn't mean your album will sale, or even if you work with huge producers it doesn't mean the fans will buy your music, or even if you put out a HUGE first single the label doesn't always have your back.

I agree with 100% with Bubba, he's top 10 in the South and add to that dude is a tenacious fighter who's still ready to put out new music despite his struggles. Instead of complaining about his past, Bubba's got his eyes on the future.

Heather Hunter & Timbaland? - One More Mystery Solved

It's Big A here. Many of you who come here everyday probably don't know that Timbaland recorded with a world famous (ex-)porn star turned rappa, Heather Hunter.

I am talking about a leaked song labeled "Tasty ft. Bubba Sparxxx" (also known as "Would You Like ft. Bubba Sparxxx"). Many people have discussed whether this is Timbaland solo on the beat, Scott Storch solo or both together. To me it definitely had the Scott Storch feeling. Boogie and I also discussed it this weekend and neither of us was really sure.

So I had to hit up HH (nah, not on myspace or whatever...on her private contact fellas *shows off*) to clear things up for all the credit junkies: In fact this is a Bubba Sparxxx song and not a Double-H song. The correct name is "Tasty" and it's produced by both, Scott Storch & Timbaland. It was suppose to be on Bubba's Deliverance album, but didn't make the cut. Here we go (again)...

(on a side note: she worked with Scott Storch on her last album "The Unexpected", track is called "Don't Stop")

Timbaland and Scott Storch

As you all know Scott Storch and Timbaland have worked on many tracks together. Most notably:

Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River" and "(And She Said) Take Me Now"
Bubba Sparxxx's "Lovely" "Bubba Talk" and "Get Right"
Ms Jade "She's A Gangsta" and "Feel The Girl"
Truth Hurts "Real"
Limp Bizkit "Take A Look Around" (Remix) and "Rearranged" (Remix)

The track in question today is Heather Hunter's "Would You Like" aka Bubba Sparxxx's "Tasty". This track was thought to be produced by Timbaland especially since he can be heard on the track and his artist Bubba Sparxxx is featured on the track. The track, however, is credited solely as a Scott Storch production. It sounds very similar to Fat Joe's "Lean Back" so it make sense that Storch produced it yet Timbaland's influence can definitely be heard.

So here's yet another example of a track with Timbo on it NOT produced by him. More to come on that I promise!

What's that sound?

So if you had a chance to go to Sebastian's myspace and take a listen than you heard 3 new Timbo tracks. So did anything sound oddly familiar? Take a listen to Tawanna's "Tonite" and Shelby Norman's "U Hated Me" again. Can you hear it?

Hear that strange "bink bink bink" at the beginning of both tracks? Well that sound has been on a number of Timbaland tracks throughout the years. Ironically, or maybe not so, the tracks it appears on are either unreleased or a snippet. More than likely though, this sound appears on unmastered Timbo tracks. For example the sound appears on:

Aaliyah's "Time"
Attitude "All By Myself" (snippet)
The Kevin Garnett Commercial track
Pooda Brown's "Test My Boyz" (snippet) though the vinyl does exist and I have a feeling this sound has been omitted
and the 2 before mentioned tracks.

So what exactly is the sound? Well I think it's a sort of electronic metronome. What makes me say that? Take a look at this video:

30 Years To Life Soundtrack

I figured ok I've heard the rumors, I've heard what could be on the soundtrack so I thought why don't you just watch it? If anything to catch the credits for the music. Here's the soundtrack as it appears in the credits:

Why this was never released is beyond me. Tim paid for the movie, was the executive producer, but still no soundtrack. There is no mention of Aaliyah's "Time" in the credits though maybe it was unreleased off the unreleased soundtrack. This is one of the rarest "known" collection of Timbaland productions.
