Update: This song is produced by Maximum Risk from Denmark.
Though many will label this track as new, it has actually been around for quite some time. The story behind the track, however, is what makes it so unique. I won't bore you with the details but it does involve a phone recording and a lot of hungry Timbaland fans waiting for a clearer version to appear. Finally that day has come, take a listen:
Brandy "What Have You Done 4 Me"
Check the sound similiarities between this track and Jada & Bubba's "They Ain't Ready." Will this appear on Brandy's new album? We have yet to find out.

Chris Brown & Timbo "Lottery"?
Yes we all read about Timbaland being on Chris Brown's album but as of late there has been no mention of the Timbo track for Brown's new album. I figured then that the news of the two working together must have referred to Timbaland and Chris Brown's recent pairing on this year's MTV VMA's with Timbo creating Brown's intro for his performance. However, this "Lottery" from Chris Brown's forthcoming album really has me wondering if Tim was a part of it.
Update: This track is produced by Rob Knox of The Underdogs. Timbaland did not make Brown's album despite what various media outlets reported. To all the Chris Brown, Rob Knox, and Underdogs fans, welcome to The Chronicles!
Rare Reels: KG And1 commercial, Timbo? Storch?
It's long been labeled as a Tim track until recently when Storch claimed he made the beat. What do you say?
BossPlayya Presents: Missy's DA REAL WORLD Timstrus
DA REAL WORLD goes down as my fave Timbaland produced 'album'. Ain't a song I don't like on this record. And, eventho it went platinum, outside of the diehard Missy/Tim fans, it was consifered a disappointment at the time on the commercial side.
This is where I'd like to call on y'all to help me. There are three instrus that originated off this album. The three singles. Now, HOT BOYZ is a cd-rip, hq. But I ripped SHE'S A BITCH and ALL N MY GRILL off vinyl back in 99! 8 yrs ago! If you have em in nicer quality than mines? Hit me up...in the meantime, here go some crazy timstrus this week.

Danja & Simple Plan "When I'm Gone"
Today MTV reported on Simple Plan's new album with production by Danja. Their lead single is called "When I'm Gone" co-produced by Danja. Here take a listen:
There definitely is a big difference between this track with Danja co-producing versus say any of the Danja solo produced Duran Duran tracks. Of course they are 2 different bands with 2 different sounds but none the less that Danja sound is not as prominent on this track.
MTV said about the collabo:
****"We're a band that's sold something like 7 million records, had two records that did really well, so we had to find a way to change without changing, to kind of reinvent ourselves," frontman Pierre Bouvier said. "All the bands that stand the test of time always have that record where it sounds different than anything previous, so we wanted to make things that sounded a bit more fresh. And so we did things like work with guys like Danja. He'd come up with some stuff, very synthy, very beat-oriented, and we'd write on that, and we made these really cool songs. And from there, we felt more confident to try something different, so we wrote the rest of the record."
Working with Hills marked the beginning of the end of a year-and-a-half journey making SP's yet-untitled third album, which the guys say will be released in late January. The voyage took them from their hometown of Montreal to San Diego, down to Barbados and then to Miami, and saw them courting collaborations with artists like Gwen Stefani and Will.I.Am (though neither of those will appear on the final product). Through it all, they kept fans abreast of developments through copious amounts of MySpace blogging. And, somewhat understandably, as the developments kept getting weirder — or, at least, less Simple Plan-y — their fanbase got more and more worried.
So now that the record — which features three songs produced by Hills (the first single, "When I'm Gone," along with "The End" and "Generation") and an assist from former Limp Bizkit deckhand DJ Lethal (on "Your Love Is a Lie") — is finished, were all those worries justified? Have Simple Plan taken things too far?****
Timbaland in the studio with Usher
We first gave you the news that indeed Timbaland and Usher were working together and now we have confirmation that the session has taken place. Not only just Timbaland, however, but the Royal Court, The Clutch, and Jimmy D were also there for the session at Cherry Beach Sound Studios in Toronto, Canada. Here is the info from their myspace page.
****International recording artist Usher came to Toronto this month and recorded tracks at Cherry Beach Sound for his upcoming record, slated for release late this year under the Zomba label group. The record is being produced by Timbaland.
At the studio were: Usher; Timbaland; King Logan and Jerome, producers for Timbaland; hit songwriter Sean Garret; Candice Nelson, Ezekiel Lewis, and Balewa Muhammad of top songwriting team The Clutch; with engineers Jimmy Douglass and Miles Walker. Mark Pitts, President of Urban Music for the Zomba Label Group oversaw the session, which coincided with Timbaland's presence in the city as part of the recent Toronto dates on the Justin Timberlake tour.
The team took over the entire studio, breaking out into multiple rooms to work on different tasks simultaneously. It was the first time any of the group had ever recorded in Toronto. Mark Pitts commented on being very pleased “with how accommodating everyone was.” Studio staff Inaam Haq, Ron Allen, and Jordan Valeriote worked hard to make sure to make sure everyone was happy.****
I think the site is confusing "record" for track(s) unless that is Timbo is producing all of Usher's next album("record") which I doubt. This is the 3rd time Tim has worked with Usher and I haven't been disappointed yet so I look forward to what they've come up with.

Beyonce, Ciara & Aaliyah
October 24, 2007. Last week MediaTakeOut.com told you that R&B singer Ciara is trying to record a duet with deceased R&B great Aaliyah (using samples from unreleased tracks). Not to be outdone, it now appears like Beyonce Knowles will be working with the legendary singer also.
But instead of doing a duet with Aaliyah, Beyonce plans on remaking one of her most popular songs - One In A Million. According to an industry insider, Beyonce's camp are waiting to get the thumbs up from Aaliyah's estate before they move forward.
The insider explained to MediaTakeOut.com, "[Beyonce] is looking to honor Aaliyah with the remake. If [Aaliyah's] family doesn't want it done, then it won't be done."
Shock Value II?
****** Rap-Up.com Exclusive: Timbaland announced that he is working on Shock Value II, the follow-up to his platinum album Shock Value. He told fans on Saturday at 102.7 KIIS FM’s Homecoming Concert in Anaheim, CA that he had already recorded tracks with Akon, Linkin Park, and Gwen Stefani.

Big A's Video Basement - Part 1 with "Indian Flute"
Youtube was yesterday. This new section is dedicated to all the fans who love music videos and collect them. But not just TV rips in horrible quality, I am talking about rips of the original data source that all the TV outlets receive from the labels.
Since we talked in the previous post about "Indian Flute" I thought I might just share now the dvdrip of it, which is pretty hard to find. So expect now every now and then a Timbaland production that had a music video here on this site as video-download.

The Clipse sign with Columbia & get Timbaland
After all the drama with Jive, The Clipse are looking to start fresh with their new deal with Sony/Columbia.
****This time last year, the Clipse complained to anyone who'd listen how unhappy it was on Jive Records. Now, the act's wish to leave has been granted. Sibling MCs Malice and Pusha T have ended their deal with Jive and the Neptunes' Star Trak Entertainment in favor of a new arrangement with Columbia.
The Clipse will own the masters for its Re-Up Gang artists, Ab Liva and Sandman. Next year, the Clipse will issue a Re-Up Gang album as well as a new studio disc, but for the first time, the latter will not be produced solely by the Neptunes. Instead, the brothers are anticipating working with Timbaland, Danjahandz and Dame Grease.
"I can honestly say that we were all friends before the music and will be friends to the end," Malice says of his relationship with the Neptunes. "Everything is business. If we had our way, we would always be on Star Trak. But it's what's working for you and what's not. We just want good energy, and Columbia has both the urgency and the muscle."****
Scratch one off my list of hopeful Timbo collabs. I'm definitely looking forward to what they cook up in the lab.
Lil' Wayne & Timbaland
Instead of fighting against the on going war of early album leaks, Lil' Wayne has decided to embrace the trend and release all of his recently leaked tracks and 4 new ones for his album The Carter III: The Leak tentatively being released on Feburary 12th. Wayne recently told MTV:
****Records that hit the mixtapes and Internet prematurely, like "Prostitute Flange" and I Feel Like Dying," will definitely be included on The Leak. But the records you hear will be "bionic" versions of the bootlegged songs you're already familiar with.
"I'm a perfectionist," he explained. "I'mma change a couple verses, couple of lines. I ain't gonna change nothing up where it f---s up the song, I'll just make it more complete. There are songs out there that weren't finished; I'll add hooks, third verses. We're working for the fans."
As for his album of new material Carter III, the lyrical dynamo is looking at a tentative target release date of February 12. Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Kanye West have all contributed to the official album. Those songs are safe and secure for now.****
First 50, JT, and Timbo now it's Wayne, JT, and Timbo. If it's not broke don't fix it I guess.

Attitude, Hannon, and the mystery of "Indian Flute"
I'm going to warn you all now, this post is strictly for the stans. For all those taking notes, for all those who keep track of the unanswered questions, and for those who can appreciate a good find this post is for you. What has been uncovered are true gems and by none other than our own Big A. Let's begin...
Many years ago a low quality track by Attitude surfaced called "Play The Game How It Go." Immediately labeled as a new Timbaland track, the stans were drooling over the new material. Soon though as more and more Attitude tracks turned up and research was done, it was determined that the track was not produced by Timbaland but by either Hannon Lane or J Nitti of The Ugly People. I've always leaned more towards J Nitti since at the beginning of the song Tude says ".....turn it up in the head phones J so we can hear it..." but I could never say for sure.
Another Tude called "A.T.T.I.T.U.D.E" also surface and there was also some debate as in who the producer was though most said it was Hannon Lane based on liner notes for Tude's mixtape at the time. Well an interesting video has surfaced from many years back showing Attitude and Hannon in the studio creating yup you guessed it "Play The Game How It Go" with a fade out to the track "A.T.T.I.T.U.D.E"
That's video #1 let's move on to video #2. A few months ago out of the blue multiple Attitude tracks were leaked online, most purposely leaked in bad quality, and all with no time line as to when they were created and by who. Was it Tim or Hannon or mabye Nitti again, no one knew for sure. 6 tracks were leaked and after some research it was determined they were created 3-4 years ago. Though the Timbaland tracks had been determined ("Freak'Aholic", "We Gon Get It" f/ Bubba Sparxxx & Knoc'turnal, "All By Myself" F/ D.O.E) there was still a question as to who produced "I See You" F/ D.O.E, "It's Alright It's Ok", and "Just Talkin' Shit" f/ Raje Shwari.
Well the mystery of 2 of those songs has been solved take a look:
But even that isn't the best part. I'll let Big A tell ya'll the big surprise:
"I was just checking my hard-disc today for some older videos and came across this nice footage that I completely forgot about. Well I probably knew already about 3-4 years now that Tim obviously didn't produce "Indian Flute". Sorry Boogie! :) But here the facts for y'all: according the liner notes of "Under Construction Part II", the entire album is produced by Timbaland (except "I Got Luv 4 Ya" and "Don't Make Me Take It There"). Do credits lie sometimes? Yes they do! But listen what Hannon himself has to say at the end of this clip....
What also should be mentioned on a site note is the fact that "Indian Flute" samples the colombian singer Toto La Momposina, same artist that Brian Kidd sampled on Rich Boy's "Get To Poppin"."
Now this is why The Chronicles are who we are! BIG THANKS to the one and only Big A for the great find!!
Britney Spears/Danja Blackout tracks
Here are the final album versions of all the Britney & Danja tracks. They definitely sound a lot better than the previous tracks and check for all the added sounds and beat switches:
Just Added: "Get Back"
"Hot As Ice"
"Break The Ice"
"Get Naked (I Got A Plan)"
"Gimmie More"
"Perfect Lover"
In my opinion this is Danja's album a lot more than it is Britney's. This is where Danja proves to the world that he can create his own sound with a top artist and it will be a hit. Next up is Duran Duran...
Your thoughts?
Menudo, Danja and The Clutch
You remember the J Que article we posted? Well if you read the very end he talks about one of The Clutch's up and coming collabos with none other than the original boy bad: Menudo. Now I'm an old cat and I can remember growing up how HUGE these guys were and I'm talking on a global scale. Whether you liked them or not they were everywhere. They had albums produced in different languages, every piece of merchandise you could think of, TV shows, etc.
After a very long abscense Sony Records wanted to bring the group back so with MTV's involvement, tryouts were held, people were eliminated, and a new Menudo was formed. To go along with the new band members, the group went with a new sound hookng up with Danja for a few tracks off their debut album as well as top notched writing from The Clutch. Here is a demo version of one of their songs:
Menudo "More Than Words" (A E I O U)
You can find out more about Menudo and their MTV special on their myspace. Also look for 2 more Danja/Clutch tracks off the album "Save The Day" & "Surrounded".
Big thanks to Devoured!
2 more Duran Duran & Danja tracks
Not another article on Duran Duran? Yes but pay close attention to the middle of the page in the audio section. You can listen to a snippet of the Danja produced "Box Full O'Honey" and "Tempted."
****"We'd never collaborated to that level before, where all the songs are co-written on the album," Rhodes says. "It was us trying to merge our sound with the greatest pop and urban producers out there right now. It was important for all of us to get something that we were excited by again and not just something that was another one of their productions. ... Timbaland's got such a huge list under his belt already that he didn't want to make a record with Duran Duran and have it be so-so. It needed to be special. And he really made the effort to do that."
The band brought in Timbaland when the project it had been working on, a more political-minded record tentatively titled "Reportage," didn't quite have the energy the musicians wanted to capture.
"We thought we'd record a couple of new songs to try and balance it out, and we went into the studio with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake joined those sessions, too, for the first day," Rhodes says. "In that week working with Timbaland, we got three songs, which were all very different and felt so new that we were all inspired and excited by it, which for us is the goal. So we came out of there and we said, 'Let's put all that other stuff on ice for the moment, and let's continue and see if we can make a whole album like this."*****
Good to hear Danja bringing yet a whole different sound to this project as compared to say the Spears album. I definitely plan on coping this November 13th!
Thanks to April.

Alicia Keys "Like You'll Never See Me Again" Timbo or not?
The song has hit airwaves and hit the internet yesterday. Just as I was about to post the track there was a twist in the possible production, with the possibility of Alicia Keys and longtime partner Kerry "Krucial" Brothers producing the track. Yes true we reported here that Timbaland had indeed done the production and everywhere you look it says the same thing but there still is uncertainty as to if Tim really produced the song. So I'll open the debate up to all of you. Take a listen to the snippet and tell us what you think:
Alicia Keys "Like You'll Never See Me Again"
I say it's not Timbo.
Update The Chronicles (along with pratically every other music news outlet out there) was incorrect in reporting that Alicia Key's 2nd single "Like You'll Never See Me Again" is produced by Timbaland. We do apologize for the misinformation. Here is the official credits:
5. Like You’ll Never See Me Again
(Alicia Keys, Kerry Brothers, Jr.)
Produced by Alicia Keys
Co-Produced by Kerry “Krucial” Brothers

Mariah Carey and Timbaland?
Today MTV reported that Mariah Carey was working on her new album:
***She explained why she pushed back her yet-untitled album, which had previously been scheduled for December 4, to next year. "You can't really put records out in December if you want the whole world to have a chance to actually hear it, [and] my fans all over the world are very important to me," she said, adding that she also wants to put out a pair of singles before the album drops.
Carey dropped another hint about the effort, saying she "just had a really, really hot session with somebody in Miami," and while she was stubborn about letting us know just who the person in question is, she did let it slip that it's a man and that he's "somebody very popular."****
Wonder who that could be? Maybe Lil' Man?

Timbaland is the 3rd "manliest"
Askmen.com has conducted a survey on the world's manliest men. After a month-long voting period which saw over 1 million votes cast worldwide, stylish soccer phenom David Beckham emerged as the world’s No. 1 man’s man of 2007. Screen actor Matt Damon was the Top 49 runner-up, followed by Timbaland, the music producer extraordinaire. The rest of the top 10, in order, are: tennis star Roger Federer, musician and actor Justin Timberlake, actor Daniel Craig, tech mogul Steve Jobs, actor (and 2006 winner) George Clooney, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton and actor Christian Bale.
Why is Timbo at number #3? Timbaland is both prolific and influential and, this year, it has been virtually impossible to escape music he has had a hand in making. 2007 was Timbaland’s year for reaping benefits from monumentally successful projects, like his work with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Elton John, and Missy Elliott on Timbaland Presents Shock Value. He has also made a variety of appearances in support of the album and started working on a boatload of new projects, like a new album with Madonna.

Word Is: Tim & G Unit and more Omarion
Word is G Unit is nearly complete with their next album and Timbaland and Swizz Beats have already contributed to the project.
Also T-Pain and Timbo are working together co-producing Omarion's next project. Project as in album? Looks like we'll have to wait and see.
BossPlayya Presents: The Kiddstrumentals Edition
Here we go. Brian Kidd got some mention on this site recently for those crazy Kevin Michaels tracks, so I'ma shine some more spotlight on him.
RYDE OR DIE BITCH was thought to be Tim for the longest time, great track.
SAY YES is a beautiful remix that far outshines the original in my opinion.
GET TO POPPIN had so much debate about it, before it came out it was Kidd, not Mosley who did the joint. Love the sample on this track too.

More Jay-Z + Tim News
******** JAY-Z TIME
I heard Jay-Z had a nice little conference call with a bunch of media and some interesting things came out of it. We all know that American Gangster is coming out and we’ve seen tracklistings and whatever. Well, I heard that – in addition to the songs we know about – I hear that Timbaland might make the album. Kanye submitted two beats, but Hov didn’t take either. Also, there is the matter of “Dead Presidents III” and that song is FIRE – even though it is just a snippet. It sounds like a mythological update of the original. ********

Throwback: Missy, Tim, and Jimmy D in Remix
Here is an excellent interview with Missy Elliott, Timbaland, and Jimmy Douglas for Remix magazine. The interview takes place back in 2003 when Missy was recording This Is Not A Test. I never knew that the album's first tracks created were "Pass That Dutch" and "Wake Up" and then they built the rest of the album around the sound of the two. Timbaland offers a small glimpse of his vision for the album and for producing in general. The best part of the interview (to me) is all the wise words of advice that Jimmy D gives to all the future producers and beat makers out there. Check it out:
****Elliott and Timbaland's process works like a well-oiled piece of machinery. It all begins with Tim filtering through his sound library, keyboards and sound modules. He comes up with beats and little sounds for a handful of tracks and then hands them over to Elliott to check out. From that, Elliott will pick one or two. “I pretty much try to listen for the different sounds that I haven't heard in other people's records,” Elliott says. “This time around, I went with more of a hollow kind of sound. A lot of the beats that Timbaland had pulled up and I embraced were the ones that didn't have a lot going on. It was kind of like an open track. I picked those kinds of beats because a lot of the records this time around were having a lot going on, so I wanted mine to be more empty, kind of like back in the day when people probably wasn't that good on the drum machines, so they would take maybe a kick and a hi-hat.”
Although previous albums were more thick, lush or action-packed, This Is Not a Test shows off Elliott and Timbaland's restraint. “It's at a next level,” Timbaland says. “I don't think it's like we evolved — yet. The songs are just more consistent. It can develop into something bigger than that, but people gotta accept what you're doing. At that level, that's when you go to the moon. But we've already been to the moon.” The emptiness of Elliott's album was part of the master plan. “It's a good empty feeling,” Elliott says. “It's like you can appreciate the beat more. Sometimes, you might have so much going on that it's just too much. It's almost like you just got that kick, and that kick is the thing that drives the whole record.”
Engineer Jimmy Douglass is a fan of 2-inch tape, but he used none on This Is Not a Test. “When we used to do it in analog, we found that it sounded much better than the [digital] 2-track did,” he says. “But when we laid a basic 2-track to digital to work off of, it actually competed with the analog in terms of clarity. Maybe sonically it didn't kill it, but it kind of did claritywise. So we started staying in digital until the end on Missy's projects.”****

B5 and Kevin Michael revisited
Here are the credits for B5's "Teardrop":
Writer: Corte Ellis
Producer: Danja
Executive Producer: Diddy & Kevin Wales
Mixer: Marcella "Ms Lago"
Also the 2 Kevin Michael tracks produced by Brian Kidd "Love Letter" and "Liquid Lava Love" were engineered by none other than the Senator Jimmy D which I find very interesting. Is Brian Kidd and Jimmy D the new production/engineering team?
Jimmy D was also the engineer for the Danja produced "Wonder Woman" and Clutch written "Store Run" (that's Candice Nelson on vocals) off Trey Songz new album Trey Day. Despite Tim and Jimmy D not working together as much as they used to, the Senator has still managed to stay very busy.
Danja in Wall Street
When the Wall Street Journal is doing a lengthy article on you, you must be doing something right. Check out this article on Danja that talks from his start with Teddy Riley (who knew?), his price per beat, and his future possibly scoring movies:
****As he navigates this landscape, Mr. Hills offers an example of how radically the role of producer has shifted and the extent to which a hit hinges on the most basic ingredients, especially the beat. For many rock and country tunes, the song still takes shape when a songwriter picks up a guitar or sits down at a piano, but for the hip-hop and R&B songs that dominate today's pop charts, the moment of creation is more likely to be when a producer fires up a drum machine.
Mr. Hills's rise has been propelled by his apprenticeship with Timbaland. Mr. Mosley, 35, is a production veteran who has also achieved success as a performer. Although the two still collaborate occasionally on high-profile projects, such as songs for Madonna's next album, Mr. Hills is carving out his own territory. Demand for his aggressive, sculpted beats, offset by spacey melodies has packed his calendar with clients ranging from Mariah Carey to rapper Missy Elliott.
Danja Effect: Artists Nate 'Danja' Hills has worked with, clockwise from above, Madonna, Duran Duran, Justin Timberlake. Now his challenge is to expand his brand beyond that of a beatmaker. To do that, Mr. Hills and his small team of advisers are seeking out diverse projects. He is looking into scoring movies, developing his own artists, and working with Latin and rock groups, such as the pop-punk band Simple Plan.****

Timberlake confirms re-release
You remember on our Word Is about 50 Cent talking of a new track with Justin and Timbo for the re-release of FutureSex/Love Sounds? Well MTV has just confirmed the news:

Timbaland & Danja dominate while Justin makes history
Timbaland and Danja continue their dominance in pop music with a combined 7 songs in the top 40! They are:
Britney Spears 'Gimmie More' #3
Timbaland f/ One Reuplic 'Apologize' #4
Timbaland f/ Keri Hilson & D.O.E 'The Way I Are' #5
50 Cent f/ Justin & Timbaland 'AYO Technology' #11
Justin Timberlake 'Lovestoned' #19
Justin Timberlake f/ Beyonce 'Until The End Of Time' #28
Fabolous f/ Ne-Yo 'Make Me Better' #34
Justin also made music history being the first solo artist this decade to have six top 40 hits from one album. The last solo male artist to accomplish the feat was Michael Jackson, whose album "Dangerous" produced seven such hits from 1991-93. Shania Twain's "Come On Over," which had six top 40 Hot 100 hits from 1997-99, was the last album overall to reach the same heights.
This does not include international statistics where Nelyl Furtado's Loose and Justin's album have dominated in sales and charts since their release. Go Tim and Danja!
Amar to perform in London
My girl Amar has not stopped since her unforgettable feature on Shock Value's "Bombay." She's been working on new music for her debut album but I will save all the juicy details for our next Artist Update on Amar coming very soon. In the meantime Amar will be performing live on October 26th in London at the Jazz Cafe. Here are the details:
***London-based Asian singer Amar first featured on the 1997 album 'Talvin Singh presents Anokha : Sounds of The Asian Underground'. The daughter of Bhangra royalty Mangal Singh, she signed to Warner in her teens, recording her debut album 'Outside', produced by Nitin Sawhney.
Since then Amar has attracted the attention of hip hop heavyweight Timbaland and she features on his current album 'Shock Value'. She also appears on remixes of Nelly Furtado's 'Maneater' and 'Promiscuous Girl' singing in both Hindi and English.
Her forthcoming album is tipped to be the next Asian breakthrough release and will feature production from Timbaland and Jim Beanz.
Amar's Electric Proms performance will be an exclusive preview of her new album and will include special electric reversions of her early hits 'Jaan', 'Sometimes...' and 'Red Sky.'****
Want to win 2 free tickets to the show? Check here for all the details.
Congratulations to Amar and I hope some of our readers will get a chance to go to the show.

Mary J Blige working with Timbaland and.....
I've been waiting for this news for years:
****After pulling off a Breakthrough in 2005 — one that helped earn her three Grammy Awards and a heap of other honors — you'd think everything would finally be A-OK with Mary J. Blige nowadays.
Well, it is ... sort of.
Sure, she's been honored as an icon, she's enjoying her marriage to music-industry-exec husband Kendu Isaacs, and she's as beloved as ever by her peers. But Mary just wouldn't be Mary if she didn't have a battle on her hands. On her eighth studio album, Growing Pains, due November 27, Blige puts up a different kind of fight — to keep her breakthrough going.
"It's not reliving where I been. [The album is] just based on where I am," she told MTV News on Monday on the Los Angeles set of the video for her new single, "Just Fine." "So many people are like, 'I'm perfect.' I'm so imperfect, that's why I'm able to let everything out and let people see everything. 'Cause I'm just a mess like every other person that's a mess out there. And it's going to take probably a lifetime to get to a point in my life where I'm like, 'Oh, I'm perfect.' I don't think that will ever happen. So as long as I'm a human being and I'm not perfect, I'm able to say I'm having some growing pains. Because in order to sustain where you are once you made such a breakthrough that everyone is looking at you, now everyone is like, 'Ooh, is she gonna make a mistake?' Yes, I'm going to make a mistake. Yes, I'm still gonna do things. And that's what Growing Pains is about, it's about finally not whining about the pain, Mary J. Blige, and accepting the pain that comes with growing."
Her lead single, the up-tempo "Just Fine," displays Blige's newfound spirit. The track was produced by Tricky Stewart and the Dream, the duo behind Rihanna's "Umbrella." On "Just Fine," Blige zestfully sings: "Feels so good/ When you're doing all the things that you want to do/ Get the best out of life, treat yourself to something new/ Keep your head."
"[That song] was written based on me having a good day," Blige explained. "You know, I can have 30 or 40 [bad days]. I can have as many bad days as anyone. But I choose to say, 'I'm just fine.' Right now. You know those days when your hair looks good, you're not sitting in traffic, your man's not acting like an idiot. You're just fine. So it's OK to have those days. So instead of coming with something ungrateful to the universe, how about I come with something first that's says, 'You know what? It's OK. Enjoy this day if you're having a great day.' "
For Growing Pains, Blige also worked with Ne-Yo, Stargate, Dre & Vidal, and Timbaland.
The Ne-Yo-penned "Work in Progress" is a favorite of Blige's, she said. But she's not sure if the song will be her second single just yet. Other tracks set to be included on the album include "Roses," "Talk to Me" and "Feel Like a Woman." The latter, she said, is based on the idea that it's OK for women to receive gifts from men and that they shouldn't be called gold diggers for it. "Sometimes you got to enjoy him splurging on you," she said.
The dark days are long gone for Blige, but she's still drawing from her trials and tribulations in hopes to never revisit the pitfalls. Even if it hurts, she wants to put pleasure over pain.
"I got all the stuff where, in my relationship, when I'm having a hard time with myself, or I'm even having a hard time with [my husband], because we're not perfect. We love each other, but we're people! We're not robots or machines! We're just striving to do the right thing, those are the people that have it the hardest. Because it's easy to just always do the wrong thing and be comfortable. But to break the comfort zone of just falling back to, 'Well, it's comfortable here being pissed off all the time.' It hurts when you have to smile and you don't want to smile, but the best thing to do is to smile."****
The Chronicles can confirm that Tim and Mary have already recorded the track and that they got some help from the red hot writing crew, the one and only Clutch!

Timbo, Keri Hilson, D.O.E & Sebastian on One Life To Live
Behind the scenes:
The official episode:
Timbaland named #29
Blender magazine named it's worst lyricists of 2007 with Timbaland at #29:
****What do Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody,” Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back” and Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscuous” have in common? They’re all great songs that would be even better were it not for a certain marble-mouthed producer dropping his clunky bon mots in the background. Tim may be a genius on the mixing boards, but hand him a pen and suddenly he’s as graceful as a beluga on roller skates.
Worst lyric: “Timbaland/Don’t you know I am the man/Rock shows from here to Japan/Have people shaking, shaking my hand” (“Are You That Somebody?”)****
I'll be the first to admit Tim is definitely not known for his lyrical skills but it's how he uses his voice that makes him so unique. Just think of all the senseless Tim and Missy lyrics we've heard though the years but then think of HOW they sound when we listen to them. That's why Tim and Missy are who they are. Even the line Blender quotes looks pretty ridiculous when read but all of us can remember exactly how that line sounds in our heads.
Blender also names Billy Corgan, Paul McCartney, Common, and KRS-One on their list, with Sting being the all time worst. Has the Blender staff ever heard of The Ketchup Song?

Tweet talks new album
During the VH1 Honors Tweet talked with Spinderella (from Salt N Peppa) about her 12 track new album called Love, Tweet Take a look:
Tweet and the new album
Her first single is called "My Dear" featuring T.I. which is a remake of the unreleased Ciara f/ T.I. track "Goodbye, My Dear". Tweet did say it was a song that her fans wouldn't expect from her. Though I think it's a bad choice of a first single, I do like it a lot more than the Ciara version.
Other new tracks to date from Tweet have been:
- See Ya
- Whisper
- Give It To Ya
as well as:
- Reasons
- Love ??
- Priceless
- Love Again
from her myspace.
No producers have been officially announced though I'm positive you will see longtime Tweet producers (and Missy and Timbaland collaborators) Craig Brockman and Nisan Stewart part of the project. Let's hope Tim can contribute one or two tracks to the new album as well.
Baby Bash nabs Timbaland

Dima Bilan & Sebastian at the RMAs
Here are some pictures from the MTV Russian Music Awards where Dima Bilan and Sebastian performed their smash hit "Number 1 Fan." Dima Bilan was the big winner at the Russian Music Awards winning 3 awards for Best Composition for "Nevozmozhnoe Vozmozhno”, Best Performer, and Artist of the Year for the 3rd time in a row.
Along with the performance of "Number One Fan", Bilan also premiered another Timbaland track called "Amnesia." Here's a video of the making of the track. Yes that's Ryan Tedder and Jim Beanz:
Also here's the performance of "Amnesia" at this year's RMAs:
Now by this time you know The Chronicles can't just give you that info, no we got to go that step further. So here's the twist, remember how I told you to be on the look out for Jim Beanz not only for his vocals, not only for his vocal production, but for his music production as well? Yes that's right Beanz in fact produced not only "Number One Fan" but "Amnesia" and 3 other unnamed tracks for Dima Bilan on behlaf of Timbaland Productions. There's a lot to be said for Beanz talent with a #1 hit right out the gate!

The Chronicles celebrates 1 year!!
Look below this post for lots of birthday goodies!!
As I write this I'm blasting Tim & Magoo's "Clock Strikes" as an homage to a golden era of Timbaland that we may never see again but as a reminder to why I started this blog: to pay respect to a producer who has forever changed the way we listen to music. It was 1 year ago today that I launched what I thought would be a place where 10 maybe 20 hard core Tim fans would come to hear me rant about all the Timbaland knowledge I had accumulated over the years. Instead the site grew and grew and became the biggest, (yeah I can say it) most informative Timbaland site on the net.
So who's just who is tuning into The Chronicles? For our first year:
* Nearly 250,000 hits with a current average of over 2,000 hits a day
* With the exception of Montana (where's the love?!?) we've had a visitor from every U.S. state
* We've had visitors from over 80 countries in the world from Japan to Iraq, New Zeland to Macedonia. That equals out to nearly half the countries in the WORLD has had a visit to The Chronicles. That right there should show the power of Timbaland's music and even more so of music itself.
The spirit of this site has always been a collabortative effort. The Chronicles is only as successful as it's readers and all of you have gone above and beyond in helping to make this site what it is today. Daily I get e-mails from all parts of the world giving me tidbits of info, samples, interviews, and all the juicy nuggets that help make this site so successful. With that said I thank ALL of you for being a part of what has become a very fun project. You all are just as much a part of The Chronicles as the team itself.
So what does that future hold for The Thomas Crown Chronicles? The same as it always has, samples, Timstrumentals, Rare Reels, more mysteries, Throwbacks, interviews, more exclsuives, and best of all more music!! We're not stopping for a minute we've only just begun.
We're looking to get a much needed make over here soon so be on the look out. The biggest change is we've combined the old Chronicles with the new one so now all 580 posts (that's a lot of info) are in one place for your enjoyment. Make sure to click on the "labels" at the bottom of our posts to find every post on that particular subject we've written about since day 1.
Again I thank all of you for the continued support and here's to year #2!!
Peace,
Boogie

Missy Elliott "Sock It To Me" no Da Brat rap
Timbaland & Magoo "It's Your Night" no bathroom break

Enjoy!
Happy Birthday!
Here's my belated birthday present. Remember this ridiculous beat Tim played at Justin's FutureSex/LoveShow, the one he remixed "Work It" with?
I had a sneaking suspicion about the sample, but I never really posted it. Check the first scene from "Monster House":
Happy Anniversary TCC!
Yeah, yeah, no one expected me to show up since I've been m.i.a. for the past couple of months...BUT I had pop in for a quick sec because The Thomas Crown Chronicles means so much to me! I remember when Boogie first bounced the idea of the Chronicles to me. I thoguht it was a great idea and had a lot of potential, but like Boogie has already said, the prominence of the Chronicles has just surpassed our expectations. This is an amazing Tim site for all Tim stans, and I am proud to be a part of this team. I have to give BIG PROPS to Boogie for his vision and genius in constructing this site, and I have to sincerely thank him for asking me to be a part of it.
Peace,
C.Z.A....wait a minute, y'all know I wouldn't show up on the Chronicles' Anniversary and not come empty handed. Take a Listen...

Happy B-Day www.thethomascrownchronicles.com !!!
It's October 7 in Germany in some minutes. Which means 1 year anniversary for this amazing fan and stan blog. I gotta admitt that I learned quiet a lot during this time about Timbaland and how he works, what he talks etc. And also I realized in this time that he kinda lost his magic - at least to me. Sometimes I think we shouldn't dig that deep and just appreciate the music. What do you guys think about Timbaland now after 1 year full of informations?
Well, we as die hard fans...we gotta do what we have to do :) That's why my present for y'all today is yet another unknown sample that Tim used on
Missy's "Dangerous Mouth" back in 1999.
And now check "The Assassination" off the
"Most Wanted" soundtrack

Her first single "No One" has been doing well and she has been playing different venues across the country in support of her new album. Her 2nd single will be the Timbaland produced "Like You'll Never See Me Again" said to have a "Purple Rain" type vibe a la Prince.

Missy Elliott at the VH1 Honors
First off let us all hope that something comes from this 1 picture:
This should at least put to rest all the rumors that Tweet and Missy had a fall out. Missy Elliott was one of those honored last night for the VH1 Honors show. Tweet, Keiysha Cole, Eve, Nelly Furtado, and many others paid tribute Missy a true pioneering legend.
In honor of Missy, VH1 has a pretty basic biography about her as well as an 11 part video interview talking about everything from her first meeting with Timbaland to describing "The Rain" video.
She's one of the only female producers in the game, she one of the first women to get their own labels, she's the highest selling female hip hop artist of all time and she more than deserves to be honored for her achievements in music.
Kevin Michael says Brian Kidd ghosted
Let me start off by saying I'm a Brian Kidd fan, a HUGE Brian Kidd fan. Of all the Timbaland affiliated producers he is my favorite, yes more than Danja, with Hannon Lane a close 2nd. We've talked about Tim and Kidd's connection since day #1 on The Chronicles. Most people still have no idea who he is or think the name is an alias for Timbaland. No I assure you Kidd is real person and yes he even has his own myspace. He produced the Slum Village "Disco" Remix f/ Ms Jade, he co-produced the Floetry "Say Yes" Remix with Tim, and the Ginuwine track "Simply Irresistible" with Tim as well may more go look. He also introduced both Tim and Polow to the Miko and has been cited by both as an inspiration.
So the point of all this? Well if you haven't heard it yet, I suggest you check out the new album by Atlantic artist Kevin Michael. The self titled album is definitely a solid debut for the young singer with 3 Clutch tracks "Ghost" "Hood Buzzin" and "Weekend Jumpoff." The album also has 2 tracks by none other than Brian Kidd. Check em out:
Kevin Michael "Liquid Lava Love" produced by Brian Kidd
Kevin Michael "Love Letter" produced by Brian Kidd Now that's a dope beat!
and here's what Kevin briefly said about Kidd: "He's crazy, he was on the low, like ghostin' for Timbaland for years and years but now he's about to step out on his own two feet, dude is retarded, like stupid." It makes me wonder what Kevin and Kidd talked about in the studio. Besides The Lox "Ride Or Die Chick" (yes it's true!) what tracks did Kidd ghost produce for Tim? That right there is the million dollar question that one day I hope to answer.
Look out for Brian Kidd in our next Unsolved Mysteries.
Missy Elliott in the studio
What Timbaland is to us hear on The Chronicles, Missy Elliott is to Missy Watch and they bring us a gem of an interview from Entertainment Weekly with none other than Missy Elliott:
****In the Studio with... Missy Elliott
The "Fly" girl gives EW a taste of her upcoming album. Figuring into the conversation: Timbaland, T-Pain, and Amy Winehouse's beehive.
After lying low following the release of 2005's The Cookbook, Missy Elliott has quietly returned with a cameo on "Let It Go," the sizzling new single she produced for R&B songbird Keyshia Cole. And come early next year, Elliott, 36, will drop her own, still-untitled album. "Hip-hop is my first love," she says. "I can do a record with George W. Bush, and I'm still gonna come out with a hip-hop record." With the disc partially completed, rap's leading lady took a rare break from recording to talk about her highly anticipated seventh CD.
How does it feel to be working with Timbaland for the first time since The Cookbook?
Tim was [busy] getting slim last album. Now he’s fully back in the picture, and it feels good. One night, we sat in the studio like, “We’ve been everywhere from using Japanese sounds to using birds. What do we do at this point?” So it’s been a challenge, but I like that we push each other. Together we’re always gonna take it as far left as possible without losing people or having them thinking we’re on drugs.
What does your new music with Timbaland sound like?
I love what he did with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. But for me, I want what I ain't heard, so we're coming from another place. But it's still going to be fun in the club... Some things you can't even explain. Like, if I had to explain "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" back in the day, I wouldn't have been able to.
Are you collaborating with any other producers?
I’m going to work with T-Pain. I love all of his records. What he does is genius, even using that [vocoder] thing on his voice. That’s one of those things you hear and you’re like, Why didn’t I do that first?! And I went in the studio with Swizz Beatz. He always got those records that keep you in the club. I also worked with Nate “Danjahandz” Hills. I’ve worked with Danja since he was [just] Nate. I didn’t even know his name was Danja until recently. Everybody was like, “Danja,” and I’m like, “Who?” And then I seen him and I’m like, “Nate, you Danja?!”
How about cameos?
I can say Keyshia Cole for sure; she owes me one. Keyshia gives you raw, like, ‘My life has been hell.’ There are a lot more people living that life than the good life, so they can relate to her. I'm quite sure T-Pain's gonna jump on the track he's producing. If I could get Jesus on it, I would. But God is always there.
Will a new look accompany the new sound?
I'm most definitely gonna be a lot more edgy with my look. You might see me come out with a beehive like Amy Winehouse. I did a bald head at one time, so who knows?****

Video: T.I. "Hurt" F/ Busta Rhymes & Alfamega
And as an added bonus here's the Danjstrumental for "Hurt"
What do you think?
No matter how many times I hear this track those drums are just so damn smooth. The best part of the track is that little break between minute 3:11-3:38 with all those cool sounds. Good stuff!

Watch Keri Hilson, D.O.E, and One Republic
Here is the official concert footage from the McDonald's show this past Sunday. You can also vote for Keri to have one of her songs in a McDonald's commercial:
McDonald's show live with Keri Hilson, D.O.E, & One Republic
or
You need to go to the far right hand side of the page and click the indiviudal ketchup packets and then you can watch the video in the center of the hamburger box. Haha I'm serious!
Thoughts?
Keri Hilson: 'Gimme More' is My Song!
********* Britney Spears’ personal life may be in shambles, but there’s still some good news in her professional one — her single “Gimme More” is still burning up the airwaves and is seemingly fixed in its No. 1 position on the iTunes charts. But just who is responsible for this hit ditty?
Keri Hilson, that’s who.
“Danja produced the song and I just started singing, ‘Give me, Give me,’ and added a little more in and just having fun and messing around really,” Keri tells OK!. “That's how everything is. I wrote ‘Gimme More’ with Britney in mind. At this point in my career I am usually in the studio when usually they're there or sometimes not there, the session is booked, but I definitely have them in mind.”
Like with many of Britney’s biggest hits, the woeful pop star did not put pen to paper for “Gimme More,” leaving the honor to more established songwriters, such as Keri herself. As part of The Clutch, Keri has penned many of today’s hits, collaborating with heavyweights like Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. The 24-year-old wrote not one, but four tunes on Britney’s forthcoming album, dropping Nov. 13, and tells OK! the songs are older than you think.
Although the fallen pop princess was spotted traveling to and from recording studios in the spring, Keri reveals that the 25-year-old actually recorded the tune more than a year ago when she was seven-months pregnant with Jayden. But ever the workaholic — despite the contrary at last month’s Video Music Awards — Brit didn’t let a third trimester pregnancy slow her down — or a birth, for that matter.
“She was so focused,” Keri says. “She gave 150 percent. She had already been recording throughout her pregnancy. We started in Vegas and continued in L.A. and worked at her house. When we worked at her house [she gave birth to Jayden] and it was only three weeks after the baby was born. I mean focused? I don't know any other mother that would do that.”
However, suffice it to say, a lot has changed since those days. Britney and Keri, who also wrote “The Perfect Lover,” “Out of This World” and “Break the Ice” for the singer, have lost contact and haven’t had a chance to chat about their iTunes triumph.
With their dressing rooms across the hall from each other’s at the VMAs, Keri had hoped to catch up with the mother of two “but I think she just kind of disappeared.”
But the songwriter harbors no ill will against Britney and only wishes her the best. “I'm proud of it, and I would love for people to just leave her alone. She's going through a lot. This is Britney dealing with life, with real life. Those kids are her whole life.” ********

Timbaland & Teairra Mari
Ex-Rocafellette Teairrra Mari is in the studio working with Tim for her sophomore effort!
****The former princess of Roc-A-Fella records, Teairra Mari, is resurrecting her career with a second album on Interscope Records after departing ways with Jay-z. Her debut single "Make Her Feel Good," which became a huge hit on the recording charts on the 2005 Roc-A-Fella Presents: Teairra Mari album, sold 69,000 copies on its first week. The success was followed by the low climbing second single "No Daddy" which failed to climbed up the charts.
Teairra Mari is currently working on her second album to be released this fall and has stated she is in the studio working with producers such as Timbaland, Bryan Michael Cox, Scott Storch, Polow Da Don, Kanye West, Solange and others.
Teairra also just finished wrapping up her first film called Doorman in which she co-stars with Jackie Long, which will be out soon. She will also make an appearance on J-Kwon next album.

Sebastian heads to Russia
The 2007 Russian MTV Awards will be held this Thursday with performances by Avril Lavigne, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Snoop Dogg, Fergie, Paris Hilton (I know what you're thinking) and Dima Bilan with Sebastian. Though relatively an unknown track here in the States, "Number 1 Fan" has been on top of the Russian charts for the last month. Dima Bilan is a huge pop star in Russia and his track with Sebastian and production by Timbaland has only increased his pop appeal. Bilan is nominated for 4 awards this year:
1. Best Singer
2. Best Pop Project
3. Best Song
4. Artist of the year
Congratulations to Timbaland on yet another hit as well as to Sebastian for his work on a huge Russian hit. Hopefully we'll be able to track down some footage of the performance or at least some photos from the event.

Who flipped it better? Red Spyda Vs. Timbaland
Yet another new series we're bringing you here on The Chronicles, especially for all you sample heads. First, check D.O.E's "Mash It Up" produced by Timbaland and then check A-B's "Infrared" produced by Red Sypda.
Does the sample sound familiar? If not watch this:
Who used the sample better?
PLENTY more of these to come. If you know of any doubles, triples, or otherwise hit me up.
The D.E.Y shoot video
Artist: The Dey
Song: "Get The Feeling"
Label: Epic
Director: Josh Forbes
Production co: Winch + Pulley
Rep: Lanette Phillips Management
This is yet another Royal Court production to be released as a single. That makes 4 out of 7 released tracks chosen as singles ("Icebox", "Anonymous", "She Said I Said", and "Get The Feeling"). With "Rearview", "No Definition" and "Murder" also in talks to be released as singles by Bobby Valentino, Mario, and Ashlee Simpson respectively, that's an incredible start for The Royal Court.
With that said is having your music placed worth sharing production credits with an A list producer even if that producer may not of had a hand in the creation of your track? Let us know...
