Let me start off by saying I'm a Brian Kidd fan, a HUGE Brian Kidd fan. Of all the Timbaland affiliated producers he is my favorite, yes more than Danja, with Hannon Lane a close 2nd. We've talked about Tim and Kidd's connection since day #1 on The Chronicles. Most people still have no idea who he is or think the name is an alias for Timbaland. No I assure you Kidd is real person and yes he even has his own myspace. He produced the Slum Village "Disco" Remix f/ Ms Jade, he co-produced the Floetry "Say Yes" Remix with Tim, and the Ginuwine track "Simply Irresistible" with Tim as well may more go look. He also introduced both Tim and Polow to the Miko and has been cited by both as an inspiration.
So the point of all this? Well if you haven't heard it yet, I suggest you check out the new album by Atlantic artist Kevin Michael. The self titled album is definitely a solid debut for the young singer with 3 Clutch tracks "Ghost" "Hood Buzzin" and "Weekend Jumpoff." The album also has 2 tracks by none other than Brian Kidd. Check em out:
Kevin Michael "Liquid Lava Love" produced by Brian Kidd
Kevin Michael "Love Letter" produced by Brian Kidd Now that's a dope beat!
and here's what Kevin briefly said about Kidd: "He's crazy, he was on the low, like ghostin' for Timbaland for years and years but now he's about to step out on his own two feet, dude is retarded, like stupid." It makes me wonder what Kevin and Kidd talked about in the studio. Besides The Lox "Ride Or Die Chick" (yes it's true!) what tracks did Kidd ghost produce for Tim? That right there is the million dollar question that one day I hope to answer.
Look out for Brian Kidd in our next Unsolved Mysteries.

Songs aight BK is cool i want to know the answer to that question myself someone should just ask tim that or his brother.
ReplyDeletehe aight but if hes that good of a producer he should find hes own style shit sounds like tim
ReplyDeleteor Tim sounds like Brian Kidd? LOL
ReplyDeletewell if thats the case kidd should be able to do it better...which he does not
ReplyDeletethis is exactlly what i thought for ...any timbo fan knows around 1999 , 2000 ish tims who style changed and all of a sudden he had those krazy snares and wierd tracks..so im gonna say brian kidd did a good portion of missy's da real world cd ..this dudes has too be caked up lol i wouldnt say a word either...money talks...forget fame!!!
ReplyDeletei mean, the first one's sleep-inducing for me, the second one's aight. i have a hard time believing he ghosted much based on these and the Rich Boy tracks. if he contributed substantially, tracks like these just prove how important Timbo is to the process. i mean that "Love Letter" kinda recalls Missy's "Scream a.k.a. Itchin'" for me, but without any of Tim's sense of rhythm or fullness.
ReplyDeletethe handful of official solo productions i've heard from the Timbaffiliates not named Danja just scream "haven't blown up for a reason" to me.
Kidd and Lane > Danjahandz, reaaally? there some crazy dope tracks i need to get up on, cuz i got my suspicions. with Kidd i mean. i've heard zilch from Lane on his own but i assumed neither dudes had that substantial of a production discog.
I don't think Brian Kidd has been in Tim's situation as much as people think. I Think Brian probably only got introded to Tim during the Miss E...So Addictive album. Plus everyone knows Big Tank was Tims 1st ghost producer
ReplyDeleteI like how some talk as if tim was the co-producer and had no involvement in the tracks he had help with or asked for.
ReplyDeleteTim always had crazy snares, kicks, and was making the weird songs before Kidd. Been in the game longer also.
ReplyDeletenot really feelin love letter
ReplyDelete"Love Letter" is insane. And Brian Kidd definitely didn't introduce Tim to those drums, it's the other way around. Tim did "Da Real World" after Aaliyah's death, and you can definitely hear the influence. Brian can't have produced more than around 10 of Tim's tracks.
ReplyDeleteListening to the tracks..it sounds just like TIM man. I bet it is TIM..You guys Remember that bootleg rapper called LiL Man?? Now C'mon I believe that was timbaland...LiL man was featured on Tims Second Album.....Live from the Bassment...
ReplyDeleteWhere's the proof that Brian Kidd ghosted Ryde or Die Chick?
ReplyDelete@the last one...
ReplyDeleteHe told us that he produced it alone.
I still don't understand all the Hannon Lane props. What the fuck has the dude done that allows anyone to even form any opinion???
ReplyDelete"Tim did "Da Real World" after Aaliyah's death, and you can definitely hear the influence. Brian can't have produced more than around 10 of Tim's tracks."
ReplyDeleteWrong. Tim did Da Real World two years before Aaliyah's death (1999). Hence why there's a song on the album featuring her, dude. >.>
That love letter track is sick, one of the sickest beats i've heard in a while..
ReplyDeleteBut you wanna say brian kidd is some big influence on timbo you might wanna re-evaluate your theories coz you're the same people that were saying the 80s style is all Danja, yet its on a brian kidd solo track..
thats what i said i thought it was alias...wheres a pic of this guy at...and i knew sum one had too bring up danja lol suck him off already and his mpc
ReplyDeleteStop talking like you know Tim and Kidd or the music business. Brian have worked with Tim for many years. Just because Tim is on the peak of his career it doesn't mean his better than Brian Kidd. I noticed that not a lot of people recognized the name of Brian Kidd compare to Tim. There's no doubt Tim's creditable success in the music industry. BUT!! The question is? Why Kidd left Tim? why not many people know that Brian Kidd did many tracks for Tim? why after long years working with Tim, Brian left Tim?

ReplyDeleteTrust me, Brian Kidd is the truth...he did a lot of my early tracks and we used to rock out at his moms crib and then at his crib in bmore...he was just a natural - he used to play drums on the keyboard like a live drummer for real. I even gave him the name BK Beatz (not sure if he still uses that name lol)He even introduced me to Black Anomaly aka Sound Oracle who produced the b-side of my first single (who is now Timbaland's sound designer) and I remember when Brian started rocking w/Tim. Just my 2 cents...Peace.
ReplyDelete- Joe E. Blessed (the artist formerly known as Big Shank)
Where is Brian Kidd now? I thought after the J. Cole joint he would be more in the spotlight. Sound Oracle is Dope! I buy his kits he sells online.
