Craptacular!

As long as Timbaland makes shitty ass music like this, you won't be finding any news here.

While people argue about the quality of this track, I'll be busy listening to Twista's "Don't Blow My High"

Happy 2011 ya'll....

American Idol Season 10 with Assistance by Timbaland

BIG NEWS from American Idol for Season 10 today. Not only do we get 2 new judges, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Jennifer Lopez of Obscurity; not only do we get Jimmy Iovine chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records acting as an in-house mentor to contestants; but Jimmy will be getting some assistance from one Polow Da Don and Timbaland-please-no-more-dance-songs Mosley!

"We're going to try every week to bring the artist along and really give them some input," Iovine said. "Nigel [Lythgoe] has been coaching me on how to do that in the course of the show. Timbaland and Polow [Da Don] are here to help; every week we're going to have the best producers in the world helping these artists. Contestants are going to have to show improvement every week."

"We are no longer going to get the country singer to sing rock," Lythgoe said. "We-and Jimmy-going to get them to stay in the genre they belong." The music choices will vary more by decade this year, he said, as opposed to changing up themes entirely."

Timbo doin' it BIG! Get ready for many more Timbo productions coming soon!

(Unfinished) Video: Keri Hilson "Breaking Point"

Check out the leaked and unfinished version of Keri's video for the Timbo produced first single "Breaking Point" from her sophomore album No Boys Allowed

Lovin' the doo wap vibe of this track. Definitely a grower!

Get To Know Nisan Stewart

As we've always done at The Chronicles, we not only want everyone to get their Timbo fix but to also get an education along with it. With that said you all know Nisan right? Yes the producer from Tweet's Southern Hummingbird but Nisan is not only much more than that but he's been around a lot longer than you think. How far back you ask? 2005? 2002? How about 1998 back when Timbaland was looking to put together for a TV spot when he found the incredible drummer at church and immediately knew the very talented Mr. Stewart had to be a part of the Timmy family. From Missy Elliott to Nelly Furtado, Aaliyah to Tweet, Nisan has been a long time collaborator with Timbo and the crew.

Check out this informative article on Nisan and how he came to become a local church drummer to touring the world with the best musicians in the world.

It's definitely better to go in with Missy Elliot. A lot of times we'll go in - I do a lot of production for her stuff and with other stuff, but to use her as an example we'll go in and do a bunch of tracks. Just be in the studio, just vibe out. Sometimes if I'm at home, like today I hot track and I'm gonna send it off to her. She's over in Scotland right now."

"I work down in Miami a lot. I work in Miami mostly. This year I'll spend most of the year in Miami. A lot of times it might be in New York. In the music industry they record in shifts like cause' it was kind of slow out here in L.A. for a minute compared to what was going on in Miami. Everybody was down there in Miami working at the Hit Factory. When we were down there a lot of people were there. From Jazz writers - to the Neptunes would be in one room me and Missy would be in one room, Puff Daddy would have a room and Timbaland would be in another room and Enrique Eglesias would be in there cuttin' tracks. I just like to have my own stuff so that's why I've got my own studio so I can do my own thing."

Shock Value III in the works?!

So says Marcus Spence, President of Mosley Music Group:

I think shock value 3 is coming very soon

Let's hope it's better than number 2!

Speaking of Mr. Spence, did you know that along with the busy job of running MMG he also formed his own entertainment company called Ten2One Entertainment back in 2009? And do you know who he formed that company with?

None other than Paul Coy Allen.

Yes the same Paul Coy Allen who has done music videos for Timbo's "Morning After Dark", "Say Something", "If We Ever Meet Again", "Give It To Me", Sebastian's "Wobbley", Petey Pablo's "Go", and many other projects.

Check out the website for up to date news and new releases. It's all one, big happy family!

Southernaire All-Stars "Ghetto" produced by Timbaland

Attention all hard core Timbo fans, the wait is over as we have yet another long sought after Timbaland track the one and only "Ghetto" by the Southernaire All-Stars:

Track is pure FIRE with guest appearances by Static, Native, Yaushameen (who kills her verse), and J-Bird. This track has been known about for many years but was thought to be buried deep in the vaults of Timbo unreleased music. I was very close to getting the track many years ago but it wasn't meant to be. However, the folks over at Static Major is Music break us off with yet another exclusive. BIG props!

Sample of the Week AND Who Flipped It Better

It's your boy Boogie here coming with another edition of the famous sample of the week but this week I'm bringing a little extra with an added Who Flipped It Better? bonus. You ready? Here we go....

For this edition, I thought I'd start with the Timbo song first. The year was 1998 and Missy Elliott, along with Timbaland's help, was introducing the newest siren to the family none other than the teenage Nicole "Nikki" Wray. What better platform to launch a career then a hot ass song, yes one dope and catchy track called "Make It Hot":

So which sample am I talking about? Here it is again: Let's go to 2004 when Kanye West released his debut album The College Dropout with the dope track "Two Words":

Hear it yet? It should be pretty obvious but just in case let's look at another track. Fast forward to just a few months ago when Eminem released his 7th studio album Recovery and the Mr. Porter track "On Fire":

Hear the sample I'm talking about? Yes it's the "AHHHHH!" So first thing is first Who Flipped It Better?

Now on to the sample itself. It originally comes from 40 years ago from the band Mandrill and their track "Peace and Love (Amani Na Mapenzi): Movement IV (Encounter)" (yes that's the name). Here it is:

Now I say originally because even though this is where the sample comes from, Timbaland and possibly Kanye and Mr. Porter, got the sample off a sample CD. Do you know which one?

Czar you reading? Stick to your next sample mix cuz you don't want another sample war son!

Money "Check That Bitch" & "Touch" (Full Versions)

It's been a long time since we've heard anything from Walter Milsap's artist Money but we have gotten the full versions of 2 of her pasts track both produced by Milsap:

"Touch"

"Check That Bitch"

No word on a release date but Money is still working on putting together her debut album with the help of Milsap and Candice Nelson. Make sure to follow her on Twitter as well @Money2121

Props to everyone who sent over the tracks!

Kevin McCall Works With Timbaland

Writer, singer, producer, and current #1 song holder Kevin McCall recently talked about his near passing out working with Timbaland:

Another "euro pop" track, great just what we need. So much for the "organic" sound that Timbo talked about.

Expect big things from this up and coming cat!

Timbaland and "Dania" Nominated for BET Hip Hop Award for Dirty Money's "Hello Good Morning"

Say whaaaat? Obviously the Dania is a typo but Timbaland contributed to the track!?

This according to the BET Website both Dania and Timbaland are nominated for their production on Diddy's Dirty Money project and their track "Hello Good Morning."

Maybe Timbo really did contribute to the track and we just didn't know it. Otherwise, BET has really got their information messed up. Stay tuned!

Unrelased Jay-Z F/ Chris Martin "Most Kingz" produced by Timbaland

DJ Green Lantern recently dropped his Invasion Radio 2k10 which contains the track Jay-Z "Most Kingz" featuring Coldplay's front man Chris Martin that Lantern produced but there's actually a really cool back sotry to the track. The vocals for this were originally recorded for Kingdom Come but it never made the album becuase the beat couldn't be found. Say what!?

As it turns out, pieces of the verses ended up on the 2006 Grammy Family freestyle on Hot97 with Funk Master Flex as well as Coldplay’s "Lost" (Remix). Lanterns went on to explain the accapella went floated around to many different producers including Timbo:

This is my version working with the acapella. I’ve had this since 2006 and it was supposed to be on the Presidential Invasion mixtape–that never came out. Then Hov rapped these lyrics over his HP commercial drums, and the acapella went to a few different producers in search of a beat for it. I heard a Timbaland version and I think Just Blaze and a few others had it too. But by the time they made Beach Chair, I think Jay was over trying to find a beat for Most Kingz. Then he went to Flex show and the rest is history

Here's Lantern's version:

Big props to Christoph for the info!

Missy Elliott "Work It" Remix F/ Baby Sham and Rah Digga

Check out this unofficial remix I had never heard of before featuring Baby Sham and Rah Digga from the Flipmode Squad:

Senator Jimmy Douglass Talks His Craft and Working With Timbaland

If you remember back in 2006 we posted a the pod casts of Jimmy D sharing his knowledge and insight about his career, his views, and the history of music making to those lucky enough to attend his session at the Red Bull Music Academy.

But it's not only knowledge he shares, but some very familiar music and some surprises as well. We know have the video so check it out:

Jimmy D at the Red Bull Music Academy

Obviously the track he's talking about working with Timbo and the very bored Rapture is "No Sex For Ben."

but the REALLY interesting part of the interview that I must have missed or it was not included in the first podcasts we posted is when Jimmy D plays the track we've all been craving for years none other than Ricky Martin's "Bare My Soul"(this is where the snippet we all have originated from by the way).

Well listen to what Jimmy D says about it: "it's a record about him coming out of the closet." So that means of all people Jimmy Douglass out Ricky Martin 4 years before it was "official." Hilarious...

Enjoy the session! Props to Donny on the video.

Did You Know: Lushone "Nikki" Siplin

Calling all old school Timbo fans here's a little history for you. As we all know, the first "official" Timbo produced album was Ginuwine's Da Bachelor that included the track "Holler" featuring a previoulsy unknown female MC named Nikki/Virginia Slim: Well you probably don't know it but that wasn't the last time you heard Nikki. Go pull out your Missy Supa Dupa Fly albums and listen to "Gettaway" featuring Space and Nicole.....aka Nikki! (with a much deeper voice and changed up flow). But that's not at all, Nikki was featured on another track under yet another name as St. Nick on the original version of "Luv 2 Luv Ya" with yet another type flow. Yep Nikki was Faye Dunaway wantin' us to squeeze on her nipples this whole time, who knew?! St. Nick was part of the original SupaFriendz crew invited to The Bassment by Dalvin Degrate of Jodeci on a chance meeting. Missy shouts out "St. Nick" along with all the other SupaFriendz at the begining of "Izzy Izzy Ahh" and Timbaland also gives prop to "Nikki" and the rest of the SupaFriendz crew on "Intro Buddha". HUGE props to Buddha for the revelations!

50 Cent Talks Timbaland's New Collabos

Take a listen to the interview with 50 Cent where's he asked about Timbaland's possible "loss of credibility" via Shock Value II and working with the likes of Kate Perry and Miley Cyrus:

50 Cent could not have said it any better: "I don't think his [Timbaland's] original fanbase is interested in what that song would sound like." As one of those original Timbo fans, I couldn't agree more. Branching out is one thing, but created formulated music just for the money is something totally different. Bring back the "old" Timbo!

Petey Pablo Arrested

In his haste to get to this year's MTV VMA's, Petey Pablo forgot to leave his gun at home apparently. Instead he put it in his carry on and tried to board his flight. Problem is airport security doesn't let you take a bottle of water past their area let alone a gun. Petey was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a stolen firearm. We're told he posted $50,000 and was released.

Hold ya' head up Petey!

Making Of Sebastian's "Wobbley" (Remix)

Check out this video of the making of Sebastian's video for the remix of "Wobbley":

So of course you're excited for the video but besides that what else are you thinking? Yep who produced that track throughout the Making Of....my bet is on Wizz

Ginuwine Channels His Inner B Boy

We've all seen Ginuwine's classic video for "None Of Ur Business"

The video version includes the dope dance sequence with G poppin' and lockin' to what I hope we all know by now is the famous
song by George Krantz called "Din Da Da." Well for all you old school breakers like me you know the track was featured in the movie Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo and you also also know that G was obviously inspired by it too by this particular scene from the movie:

Go Turbo!

Timbaland on DH Hero 2

I've been trying to get more news on the DJ Hero 2 collabo for months but finally we get to know what track Timbo is on the game. None other than his global smash "The Way I Are":

Here's another one with Tweet's "Ooops(Oh My)"

Timbaland Cancels Malaysia Tour

Sadly due to "unforseen circumstances" (schedule conflict?) Timbaland will not be performing in Malaysia for Athur's Day much to the disappointment of many of his fans there. None the less the show will go on with performances by Flo Rida, Sean Kingston, Colby O'Donis, Thai-American hip-hop band Thaitanium, local independent rap-rock band Pop Shuvit, R&B artistes Mizz Nina and Melisa Indot, plus turntable guru DJ Fuzz.

I've got my own theory as to why this isn't happening but we'll have to wait and find out.

Sorry Moe!

Timbaland has most Top 40 hits in 4 years!

Billboard magazine reports Timbaland has had the most Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 singles since 2005. His run includes number-one singles with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, in addition to producing numerous Top 40 hits for the likes of Drake, Katy Perry, Keri Hilson and One Republic. All told, Timbaland has 25 Top 40 hits during the last five years.

Longtime The-Dream collaborators Stargate are second with 22 Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 placements, including the Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" and "So Sick" by Ne-Yo.

Lukaz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, whose most notable Hip Hop contribution is Flo Rida's "Right Round" is tied for third place with Nathan Chapman. Both producers have 21 Top 40 placements to their credit over the last five years.

Finally, former Jim Crow member Polow Da Don and Timbaland protege Danjahandz round out the top five with 18 Top 40 Hot 100 songs since 2005.

Go Timbo! Go Danja!

TLC "Dirty Dirty" Alternate Version

Check out yet another Timbaland alternate. This one is for TLC's "Dirty Dirty"

Have you figured out the video game Tim sampled from? Ask Usher....

3 Unreleased Tracks by 1 Life 2 Live

We posted the recent interview with this crew and now we get a 3 previously unheard tracks by them called to check out:

"Show Love"

"Never Fall In Love With Hoes"

"Throw It Up Ya'll"

Not Timbaland tracks but despite that you can definitely hear all their talents as MC's, especially Babe Blue. Too bad they never released an album. Would have been hot!

Keri Hilson "Still A Girl" Leak Vs. Single (let's hope)

Here's one of the most boring songs in the world produced by someone who isn't Timbo or Polow:

I hope this isn't a repeat of the last album, where half of it leaks or are singles before it actually comes out. Love you Keri but you're better than this!

Pharrell of The Neptunes recently let the world know that not only has he been working with every major artist in the industry these days, but that's he's also been creating some magic with Timbo. Check it out:

The BBC, Ice Cream [his clothing labels] – we’re doing some amazing things with Timbaland. And then, um, I dunno. I just went in with T.I., just went in with Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, uh, Shay’s stuff, Avril Lavigne – all people who wanted to try different things. Ciara, Rihanna…”

Will it be a co-production? Or solo Timbo for the next N.E.R.D album? Looks like we'll have to wait and see....

More Hard Candy Leaks

A number of tracks from Madonna's Hard Candy album have leaked over the past few days, and here are the Timbo (and presumably Danja) produced ones.

"Across the Sky" (Alternate...perhaps final? version):

"Animal":

"Latte/La La":

Thoughts? We'll update this post if/when there are more leaks.

Madonna-"Infinity" Produced by Timbo? Neptunes?

You know we love mysteries here at TCC, and there seems to be a mystery surrounding this newly leaked Madonna track, "Infinity," that was slated for her Hard Candy album:

"Infinity" seems to feature that shaker sound that's in Missy's "Wake Up" and the Timbo Mobile Underground remix to Madonna's "4 Minutes," and I think I hear Justin Timberlake on background vocals. So with all this, it must be produced by Timbo...right? Well, here's the thing about this track, it's reported as produced by Timbaland AND a demo for "Give it 2 Me," which we all know was produced by the Neptunes. Hmmmmmm. So what's the deal with this record? Is it produced by Timbaland? Did the Neptunes do it? What do you think? Let us know!

Sample of the Week Throwback: "Are you that Somebody?"

It's been a while since I've done this, but I got that itch today, and thought it would be nice to do a sample of the week...and this one is going to be an oldy, but goody.

For those who've been followers of TCC since the beginning in 2006, you might remember that in 2007 I posted three possible songs that were sampled for Aaliyah's 1998 hit "Are you that Somebody?" (my favorite Aaliyah track, by the way). I let the Tim stans duke it out over which one they thought it was. Three years later, this debate is still going on, and I thought I'd let the old and new Tim stans fight it out all over again. So here we go:

The first theory that I heard about the baby sound was that it was sampled from Prince's "Delirious" off his 1999 album. If you listen to the very end of the track, you'll hear the exact same baby laugh that's found on "Are you that Somebody?"

Second rumored I heard was that Tim sampled the baby laugh from "this song" featured on the 1982 classic film Wild Style.

Now, usually the argument goes between these two tracks, but some have also argued that Tim sampled "this record" from 1966.

So there you have it. Three songs, three exact sample baby sounds, but which track do you think Tim got it from? Do you know of any other songs with the same sample that you think is the real sample? I have my own theory about this, but I'll keep it to myself till later lol.

That's it for this week's installment. Check back next time (perhaps next Friday?)for "Czar's Sample of the Week."

And for those who've been asking me about a Timbaland Sample Mix Volume 9...you'll just have to wait and see ;-)

Peace,
C.Z.A.R.

Pitchfork Names Top 200 Tracks of the '90s, Timbaland Productions Make List

The staff over at Pitchfork just released their "Top 200 Tracks of the 1990s," and probably to no one's surprise, Timbaland's name can be found all over the list (some songs are discussed in "pre" and "post" Timbaland terms, which really shows his influence on popular music). While Timbo himself didn't make the list as an artist, three of his produced tracks are among the top 200, and one of those even made the top 10! Here are the three songs that made the list, and what the Pitchfork staff had to say about them:

8. Aaliyah
"Are you that Somebody"
[Atlantic; 1998]

Late-90s Timbaland was the epitome of audacious, screwball production genius, and Aaliyah was his ideal foil, a sultrily cool singer who did for melodic tension-and-release what other R&B singers were doing for showy melisma. Subsequently, "Are You That Somebody" sounds outlandish to the point where it comes across like a challenge from producer to singer-- and it's a challenge easily met. Tim's beat is borderline ridiculous, a rubbery, surreptitiously funky bounce that sounds like "Looney Tunes" composer Carl Stalling had been commissioned to rework a Catfish Collins chicken-scratch guitar riff.

But the aspects that might come across as goofy at first-- the baby coo sourced from Prince's "Delirious"; the beatboxing that sounds like broken castanets; the fact that it first emerged on the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy version of Dr. Doolittle-- are offset by Aaliyah's characteristically deft performance, balancing an uncanny ability to wring new angles out of a deceptively simple melody and the chops to let her singing naturally jump from smooth longing to nimble rhythmic counterpoints. The moment in the chorus where her voice finally wraps itself entirely around that stagger-step beat and rolls out with the same fluidity as the frenetic bassline-- "causeIreallyneedsomebody/tellmeareyouthatsomebody"-- is everything great about late-90s R&B in one burst of inspiration. --Nate Patrin

33. Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott
"The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)"
[Elektra; 1997]

If you were a rap hit in 1997, there's a ballpark 70% chance Puff Daddy was your midwife. (Diddy actually wanted Missy Elliot for Bad Boy on the strength of her work with Timbaland on Aaliyah's records, and praise be that she went her own way.) This was not the weather for slinky, weird rap debuts, but being unprecedented is usually marketable somehow. (Didn't hurt that Hype Williams put her in what looked like a trash bag for the video.) A relief from stereotypes, sexier than most sex talk-- visionary stuff rarely makes the Top 10 anyhow. --Mike Powell

104. Ginuwine
"Pony"
[550 Music/ Sony Music Entertainment/ Epic; 1996]

Wherein the sound of a burping processed voice personifies sex. That belching roll came courtesy of Timbaland in his first jaw-dropper, and Elgin Lumpkin-- Ginuwine's wisely ditched government name-- obliged with the sort of on-the-nose sexual metaphor that made 90s R&B such a delightfully literal piece of American musical history. "If you're horny, let's do it; ride it, my pony." That is a masterful exegesis on cut-to-the-chase. But though Ginuwine has become a genuinely underrated R&B figure-- time is unkind to the lot-- Timbaland used "Pony" to catapult himself into the conversation for most innovative and exciting producer of the half-decade. Indeed, he did most of his best work, including albums for Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, and Playa and stunning select single and remix work for Jay-Z, Jodeci, and Usher in the years that followed.

But "Pony" remains an indefatigable thing, a signifier for "different" R&B, challenging in its strangeness-- the burping, the quiet moan on the intro, those skitting hi-hats, the mechanical hissing of pistons-- that it remains an inspiration 14 years on. Timbaland did more sensual work at almost the exact same time as he worked with Aaliyah on her One in a Million but he never unleashed such unbridled, skin-pressed sex on wax again. --Sean Fennessey

Since Pitchfork decided the list should only name one song per artist, "One in a Million," "Hot like Fire," "Make it hot," and "Sock it 2 Me" received honorable mention type of accolades.

Peep the full list Here

Congrats, Timbo!!!

Aaliyah (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001)

9 years ago I was in Boston for a friend's wedding. We were laughing in the car listening to music on the radio when the DJ cut in and said that a plane had crashed with Aaliyah on board with no survivors. I immediately turned the radio up in shock and disbelief and everyone became quiet as they knew what a big Aaliyah fan I was. I had to listen to it again, then flipped the channel and heard it on another radio station, and another, and another. As the truth set in, I vividly remember feeling so sad which was weird because I never knew her, I never met her, she had no real affect on my life but it was her music that connected she and I, as it connected so many to her. I just couldn't believe a young woman so beautiful, so talented, and so incredibly young was gone.

9 years later, as I'm sitting here a little teary eyed listening to my all time favorite Liyah track the remix of "At Your Best", I find myself right back to that day of sadness.

From all of us at The Chronicles, rest in peace Aaliyah. We thank you for sharing your gifts with us and we keep you alive through your music, beautiful spirit, and long lasting impression you left on all of us. R.I.P Babygirl

The 911 Call for Timbaland

Timbo's response:

Defintiely a BIG disconnect happening between the call and the respone but regardless we hope everything is ok.

Timbaland Suicidal?! -Update

Again let's remember the word allegedly.

It's being reported that an APB was put out yesterday around 5:00PM for a "possible suicide attempt" regarding Timbaland. Tim's Malibu house was robbed a couple days ago including a very expensive 2 million dollar Jacob watch leading Tim to think it was someone close to him. Yesterday, allegedly Timbo was so distraught over the stolen watch asnd broken trust that he got in his car and drove off and could not be reached by family all day. Worried, his family called out the APB and eventually a helicopter found Tim in his Escalade. They cops talked with Tim, took him back home, and made sure everyone has ok before leaving.

No word on the validity of the details of this story but I have a feeling there's a lot more to this than what's currently being reported.

Stay tuned!

Update: Timbaland called into the Ryan Seacrest show and had this to say:

On hearing the news this morning:
"I dont know what happened to be honest with you. I don't even know what people are talking about."

On the supposed theft:
"[The theft] did happen, [but] it wasn't a watch, it was something else."

On the "possible suicide attempt":
"The only thing that I did was take a drive to figure out how I was going to handle [the theft]."

On why people thought the worst:
"I wasn't talking, so I guess people got worried. I tell people if my mom ain't calling, or my brother or my best friend, then ain't nothing to worry about."

Here's the Full Phone Call

Knew it had to be some kind if crazy mix up. Suicide over a watch? Timbo got enough money to by a roomful of those watches.

Aaliyah Tribute: Static Major "Never Know More" (Aaliyah Video)

Though it's not a Timbaland track, it's still great to hear how an original idea became a great song. Rest In Peace Baby Girl!

Inside Timbaland's Tour Bus: Full Video

Brandy Sued Because of Bran'Nu?

Allegedly. That's the word of the day. Remember it.

It's been reported today that international house DJ Marc Mysterio is suing Brandy for 6 million bucks for failing to perform. According to the suit, Brandy had agreed to put two 16-bar verses on the lead single from Mysterio's forthcoming debut album, Redemption and was allegedly paid $10,000 for her contributions. Allegedly, instead of keeping her side of the deal, her manager Ryan Ramsey allegedly told Mysterio:

“Yo Marc, listen, we just had a meeting with Universal and we tryin' to wrap up her new album deal with them and we have an issue now cuz we went over all the features she had lined up and they won't sign the deal with us if she follows through on your song cause they don't want her rapping over a dance record since they weren't happy with how her Bran'Nu tracks on Timbaland's album went down, so we gotta back out on this one.”

Mysterio's attorney, Laurence Clarke said in a statement, "They had a contract, it's quite clear what the arrangement and terms were, and they were supposed to provide [vocals]. Marc and his colleagues made all these arrangements for international commercialization. We're trying to contrast the profits now against if she would've actually performed on the record as she was supposed to-that's why you have contracts."

Again it's all.....allegedly.

I like Bran'Nu!

Timbaland Classic In-The-Studio Session with Justin Timberlake

We posted this a long time ago but it was removed and not thankfully it's back. Take at one of the coolest clips of Tim in the studio for the making of Justin Timberlake's Justified:

Keri Hilson's "Breaking Point" is her first single

Turns out Keri debuted the track via her hometown of Atlanta yesterday and it quickly made the rounds over the Internet. The video will be shot next month and a hopeful release of No Boys Allowed in late 2010. In addition to Timbo and Polow executive producing the album, Keri has also been in the studio with Ryan Leslie who compared a track they did to the one and only Aaliyah.

"One of my favorite productions while I was out there is a Keri record, but it's very reminiscent of Aaliyah," Leslie said. "I remember making the record and her saying, 'Man, [Timbaland] is gonna love this' — we hadn't played it for him yet — and saying, 'It's gonna remind him of baby girl.' "

I'm guessing first quarter of 2011 myself.

Keri Hilson "Get Back" Demo for Britney Spears produced by Danja

Here we have another one of those tracks that make you scratch your head. First off, the obvious who is "Aaron"? Which would then make you want to say it's a fake BUT as you listen you'll hear Keri Hilson singing which means more than likely one thing:

Aaron here got a hold of the original demo and deicded to a version (a much poorer one by the way) of the Britney Spears and Danja track. Don't believe me? Check those levels especially during the chorus, someone is just a bit louder than the other. What you think?

Props to Sébastien

Keri Hilson "Breaking Point" produced by Timbaland

First single? Teaser? Unwanted leak? Whatever it may be check out the newest track from Timbo & Keri called "Breaking Point"

Now this track really peaks my interest. It's definitely different from the dancy Timbo with that sorta gospel meets Prince meets Zapp and Roger laid back vibe. I'm definitely feelin' it but not sure if it's a great lead single. Always tough to tell with Keri and Timbo though. Your thoughts?

Props to PLM for the track!

Timbaland Heading to Malaysia

The Timbaland world tour continues with the next stop being Malaysia on September 24. Timbaland will be headlining for the upcoming Arthur's Day concert at Surf Beach at Sunway Lagoon, Petaling Jaya. The expected turnout is 15,000+ excited fans!

Arthur’s Day began as a global campaign last year by Guinness (my favorite beer) to celebrate its 250th anniversary, with consumer promotions leading up to Arthur’s Day on Sept 24 in recognition of its founder Arthur Guinness. Timbaland’s Arthur’s Day performance will open with by local acts Mizz Nina, Pop Shuvit, DJ Fuzz and Thai-American hip hop group Thaitanium.

My man Moe Masri is lovin' it! Congrats man!

Where Are They Now: Babe Blue

Remember the first time you heard Timbaland say "1 Life 2 Live"? If you were like me, you were wondering "who is that and is Timbo gonna produce their album?!" Sadly, only a few features and singles became of the duo including one of my favorite Timmy beatswitch tracks ever the Silence of the Lamb delicious "Can't Nobody" (you're late). Though not much has been heard from them, Babe Blue recently sat down to give this insightful interview:

Jay: Another question I was meaning to ask you whatever happened to your groups' debut album; do you still talk with Timbaland and did you ever collaborate with Missy or Aaliyah?

Blue: As far as Tim goes, he is a great person & an amazing producer. Although to be honest I don't speak with him now.. in that industry ppl are so busy & rarely converse with anyone they feel isn't about anything.. I just wouldn't even waste his time.. & I'm not taking anything away from him or knocking him.. he never told me not to call him but I'm just that type of person that if I have nothing really to speak of that I know will interest him, I won't bother. Tim & I spoke maybe about 2 years ago because I bumped into his body guard & he told me how Tim would Love to talk to me.. he gave me Tim's number & when I called he was Shocked to hear from me & asked if I was signed.. I told him no I was a free agent & he jumped at the opportunity & was like what r u doing right now... it sounded like he wanted to work right away & sign me so badly & he told me to meet him at the studio he always recorded at.. without thinking twice I jumped at the opportunity! when I arrived, I think I called his cell about 5/6 times & left messages.. he never answered me. Mind you it was a cold day in NY & I was just literally left out in the cold. I waitied fro about 2 hours... until I became so disappointed & discouraged that I said Fuck this! I HATE to have to kiss peoples ass so I turned around & went home & never called him again.. Who knows what turn my life could have taken or what would have happened but I chose to just go home & continue to live a normal 9-5 life & decided I didn't have the patience it required & let my dream go.

Missy is a doll although I never recorded with her, however I worked & signed with Lil Kim for like 2 years but she was never able to get her label off the ground so again I returned to the regular 9-5 life. Aaliyah I met once but never worked with or got to know.

Jay: I have Tim's Bio album and my favortie track on there is with you and Mocha I know Mo has a MySpace and she has already 2 unreleased albums, but do you still talk with her and did you ever collaborate with her on other tracks? And what was it like meeting and if you ever had the chance to work with Static Major of Playa?

Blue: I actually met Static briefly but never got to work with him or really interact to comment on or about him.. However I definitely liked his work.. Sometimes you can even work on the same track as someone & never meet them... the track with me & Mocha was like that... I never met her.. All I know what at the time my CEO Mark Pitts called me & was like I need you down at the studio within an Hour... Tim says if you got heat he'll work with us.. this was our first time meeting Tim... & all he told me was.. I got this track & an Artist named Mocha spitting on it but I don't know what to do with it... he didn't even have a hook... so I went in & i swear in one take laid my verse.. Tim was open... he thought it was that just beginners luck.. & he went & then started changing the beat when my verse came in.. I originally laid my verse in that beat Mocha is spitting over but right there in the studio he created that beat around my verse... then got so excited he created Can't nobody right on the spot! so we did 2 joints & thankfully both made his album And we were fortunate to have worked with Many artists!! & if we didn't record with them we definitely exchange opinions or performed together. Teddy Riley, Goodie Mob, Pharrell of Neptunes did a track & hook for us as well... We did a collab track with Black rob, Havre Pierre & Ja Rule etc.. It's just unfortunate we didn't get to share it with the world, our album was 20 tracks complete! to just get scrapped!

Real cool interview.

Game Won't Get "Krazy" with Timbaland

The Game recently sat down with Complex magazine and revealed that his Timbo produced “Krazy” that leaked krazy early, will not be on the final album. Check it out:

Complex: As far as your other songs, you had a lot of singles out. You had “Krazy,” “Shake,” and “It Must Be Me.” Were you not satisfied with…

Game: No, no. It was Pharrell’s idea to just throw a bunch of songs out. You know I’m saying like, we threw a bunch of shit out just to you know test the waters. That’s it, man.

Complex: So, will those songs still make the album?

Game: No.

Complex: They’ve been cut from the album?

Game: No, “Krazy,” and I think something else, those were for iTunes. Interscope doing a few things where you give songs to iTunes just to let the fans have them earlier and you charge them $.49 for ’em, and that’s what those were. We haven’t put out any real singles yet. The only thing that was on the album that got put out was the Justin Timberlake record, but that was never supposed to be the first single or anything. That was like a good, last, third or fourth single, but it leaked. The label liked it, radio liked it, so they started spinning it. Then another joint leaked, my joint with Robin Thicke and T.I.. When those joints leaked, man, you just gotta let ’em do what they do. Talk about ’em, push them as much as you can, ’cause they might blow—and if they don’t, then it was just a leak. But every time a song leaked I gotta go back in and really give it all I got. I really wish that Robin Thicke and T.I. joint didn’t leak, though, ’cause that was one of my favorite songs on the album.

Full Interview

Probably for the best since the track is pretty much considered old and wouldn’t make much sense on a new album. Do you think Game made the right decision?

Props to Chris on the info!

Interpolation of the Week

Does this sound familiar?

Think....think hard....backup to the beginning....listen to the lyrics...think....

Figure it out yet?

Now listen to this:

Hear it?

Nicki Minaj and Timbaland?

I have to say I'd love the callabo! Don't think Lil' Kim would like it but I know I would. I'm not of fan of the lyrics of Minaj but it's her flow that seals the deal. She reminds me a lot of Missy in many regards. Anyhow though there's no talk of them working together anytime soon, Minaj recently showed some love for his Rihanna produced "Sell Me Candy" track:

Good Girl Gone Bad I love "Sell Me Candy." That's one of my freakin' favorites. Timbaland produced. I love that and "Rehab."

Let's hope these two will work together one day!

Sebastian's "Wobbley" (Remix).....Not Yet

Seems as though the highly anticipated remix of Sebastian’s “Wobbley” has recently hit the net. G has been a long time supporter of The Chronicles both in person and the net. He’s also been on a long and rough journey, as you long time fans now, to get to this point with the hopeful release of his album Cruel Intentions. Based on that respect for both his friendship and his craft we were told not to post the remix until he was ready for us to and until he’s gives us the go ahead we won’t be posting it.

Word to the wise: don’t bite the hand that supports you.

Ya'll be patient!

Usher "Mayday" (Full) f/ Sean Garrett

We recently talked about Usher's "Mayday" and all the very familiar Timbaland sounds and now we finally have the full of the track, check it out:

The question still stands: Royal Court & Timbo or just Royal Court or just Timbo. What do you think?

Slim Thug "Give It Up" Produced by Timbaland

FINALLY! After 3 years of of waiting we finally get to hear Slim Thug's long awaited Timbaland produced track called "Give It Up"

Little boring for my taste but still a nice track for the collection. Props to James for the track!

Did you Know? Kalenna Harper

While I'm sure most of y'all know this, I realize that Tim's fan base continues to grow so some people reading TCC might not be familiar with his older or unreleased material. Anyway, do y'all remember this timbo produced track that leaked three years ago called "Lose My Mind" by this female artist Kalenna?

When I first heard it, I was like "Who the hell is this chick?" Fast forward to 2009/2010, and she's now on your radio, TV, iwhatever as 1/3 of Diddy's group Dirty Money. So how did Kalenna hook up with Tim? Since she's a songwriter, was this intended to be a track for someone else? Maybe this will go down as yet another Timbo mystery...

Keri Hilson's "Last Time" A New Track?

So the brand spanking new Keri Hilson track "Last Time" has just dropped and we're all ready for the full to drop right?! It is a new track.......isn't it?

Nope!

The track has actually been out for more than a year with none other than Candice Nelson providing her vocals and penmanship as she does with all her written tracks. Check out her version in full:

So if you've got Candice on the pen you know you got a Clutch track on your hands. Yep that's right J Que joins her on the writing credits and vocals and more than likely with Keri's version out now, she will also have writing credits. So what about the producer? Has to be Timbo with those 'Liyah "Try Again" drums.....doesn't it?

Nope!

Track is produced by The Sureshot Brothers (check the shout at the beginning). With that said, can we say BITER?! Damn there's no getting around those drums. No I smell sample? Czar where you at.

You know how we do on The Chronicles, givin' you the real ish! Props to my fellow Keepers team!

Timbaland Dancin' In His Slippers and Sweats

No it's true! Check out Madonna rehearsing her "4 Minutes" performance for the 2008 Sugar & Sweet Tour along with Justin Timberlake and one Mr. Mosley in his signature outfit:

Nelly "Tippin' In The Club" Produced by....

Dutch & Juke Box! I love it when I'm wrong, wooo! Here's the full:

Who Are Mannie Fresh's Top 5 Producers?

Mannie Fresh recently sat down with Sohh.com to discuss his 5 favorite producers. Check it out when asked who is top 5 are:

"Probably would be Mantronix, one of them. Well if you got a couple of Mantronix songs you would know, even my patterns and stuff is based around it, his energy and that music was just always energy you know...T-Mix is the dude that did all of the Suave House stuff, all the early 8 Ball & MJG stuff...Just Blaze, I'm a fan of dude, what he do establishes just crazy to me...Who else would I think in this lifetime, dead or alive, probably Timbaland. Yeah I mean this dude won't go away...[Dr. Dre] is all around to me he just found phenomenal samples and he forced you to do your homework in Hip-Hop because you wanted to know where that song came from."

So have Mannie Fresh and Timbaland ever worked together before? They have actaully on an unreleased Smitty track called "Dope Man." I recently asked Smitty if we'd ever get to hear any of his unheard Timbo tracks he told me it was all up to his label.....Blackground.

Rishi Rich & Timbaland

Check out this interview with famed Desi hitmaker Rishi Rich and a possible collabo with Timbaland:

Busy Signal Gets Busy With Timbaland

Dancehall artist Busy Signal, who can be heard on the new Major Lazer’s new EP Lazer Don’t Die is gearing up to release his new album D.O.B (Difference of Busy) shortly. Signal who’s been in the game for quite some time doesn’t plan on going out like other notable dancehall artists like Shabbar Ranks and Buju Banton. "I've learned from their mistakes. I try to think outside the box, beyond Jamaica. I mean, we sing gun lyrics here, and burn fire on this and burn fire on that, but that won't bring you to the level that you need to go. I've seen this over and over again with artists from Jamaica. You sing those songs locally, people go crazy, but at the end of the day that won't bring you to the wide level of exposure cause you're probably lashing out against those that would be accepting you."

In addition to tapping into his American audience with features with Major Lazer, Busy Signal is also working with Stephen Marley, Scott Storch, and Timbaland. Will Timbo produce a track for Signal or more than likely will we hear him feature on Timbo produced track for another artist? Stay tuned to find out!

Keri Hilson "Last Time" (Snippet)

For this track, I'm just gonna let you all listen to it and make your decision on who you think produced it:

Marinated on those drums but don't always believe the obvious. What you think? Props to Edwin!

From The Bassment: Ginuwine aka Tornado

Ya'll remember the Rare Reel we posted over 3 years ago introducing a very young Tornado right? If not here it is again for to check out:

Jodeci, Sista, & Tornado interview

Well the good folks over at the Static Major Is Music site just hooked us all up with a track by the Bassment R&B group 1-900, featuring Tornado and produced by long time Timbaland affiliate Darryl Pearson called "Dream Dreams":

How dope is that! BIG props to Dimu and the crew!

Timstrumental of the Week

Aight ya'll, this is your boy Boogie subbin' in for Roderick for the latest Timstrumental of the week. This one is a real gem! You remember when we posted the ultra rare Aaliyah "One In A Million" (Remix) well now we give you it's Timstrumental. Well, not quite a true Timstrumental but more so the TV track. None the less enjoy!

Aaliyah "One In A Million" TV Track

Big props to Buddha for the track!

New Brian Kidd "Areola" by K Of They

It's been awhile since we've heard anything from Brian Kidd but he recently teamed up again with one K of They for a track called "Areola." Who is K of They you ask? None other than Kevin Michael who Kidd hooked up with on his debut album for a couple tracks (including the banger "Liquid Lava Love").

While we're at it how about we give you 3 more Kidd track: 2 demos by songwriter Chasity Nwagara (who wrote Kevin's "Spaceship") and the track "Lil Liquor For Love" (yep same yell as "Girls Gone Wild) which we haven't yet identified the singer.

Take a listen:

Now does the very beginning of "Areola" sound familiar? Yep it's the same as the unreleased track "Kiss You All Over" Kidd did for Britany Spears.

James Fauntleroy "Paper Scissors Rock" Demo produced by Timbo

Yet another Fauntleory/Timbaland has leaked and this one we've heard before via Freestyle Steve's now legendary U-Stream for way back when. Now we have the full, check out the solid track "Paper Scissors Rock":

The track is quickly being removed via youtube by Universal irnoically or not so much as it's the label of the artist it was meant for, one ______.

Word Is Lloyd and Timbaland...

Lloyd revaled via his Twitter that his new album will be titled King Of Hearts and it's being reported that along with Polow, The Runners, Swizz Beats, and Dr. Dre that Timbaland may also lend a hand to production. We don't have a solid confirmation on this one yet but stayed tuned!

Coming to a theater near you: Timbaland

You know those adds that come on before the previews of movies? Screenvision which sells and programs in-cinema advertising, is planning to revamp the pre-show experience. Starting in September, you will start to see redesigned 20-minute “advertainment” blocks including info by Paula Abdul, Nascar, and Timbaland who will pop up in a series of 60-90 second videos during the block to talk about his influences and pick songs to play behind the more trivia, snack-bar type ads.
Timbaland said a collaboration with Screenvision was appealing both as a new creative outlet and a way to stoke his personal brand. “I don’t follow people — I like to do things to make people follow me,” he said.

Monique Idlett-Mosley, his wife and the co-president of Mosley Music Group, said the idea was actually hers. “We’re huge moviegoers, and we were sitting there in this theater one day and noticed how everyone was paying attention to this preshow,” she said. “I said, ‘Wow, from a marketing perspective, this is gold.’ ”

Speaking of movies, have you all seen Inception yet? If not go see it, the ending makes it all worth it.

Directed by Paul Coy Allen who also did Timbo's "Say Something", "Morning After Dark", and "If We Ever meet Again", the video has cameos by Petey Pablo, Fat Joe, Natalie Nunn, Heartbreaker, and Exotica. Check out these photos from the shoot:

BIG props to Aaron for the pics!

Samples of the Week

Czar is on vacation so I'm subbing in for him to hit you up with a couple samples of the week, actually more like interpolations. As we all know, the alternate of Keri Hilson's "How Does It Feel" leaked last week.

Check the guitar at the beginning. Though it's live, it's actually replaying a melody from the Doug E. Fresh track "play This At Night" from '86. Check it:

BUT is that really where Timbo got it from? Or was he watching horror movies that night in the studio? Specifically the thriller Phantasm from back in '79:

So which is it?

Props to Czar and to Raphael!

The Verdict: Mariah Carey "Skydiving" produced by Timbaland?

I've been wanting to analyze this track for awhile so why not today. Let's back up to 2007 when we got the news that Timbaland was working with Mariah. Was anyone excited? Honestly, I really wasn't sure what to expect and had my fingers crossed it wasn't going to be some predictable pop song. Then the track leaked (and since has been continually removed) on the net and come to find out not only was it not some predictable pop song (though very Mariah Carey), it actually had the classic Timbo stutter (finally!) but was it really Timbo? What's the proof? Well let's listen to the facts:

(Hit Play Now): first thought "ugh it's a Tapemaster Inc version", ok there's the familiar crow sound though not necessarily a unique Tim sound, blah blah blah first verse blah, then chorus, start 2nd verse, wait did Mariah just say "bullshit"?!, more tags, blah blah blah, start chorus, and low and behold there's the the back and forth sounds of the "HOOO" from Missy Elliott's "I'm Really Not" and the "EEEEE" from "Pump It Up", fade out....

So is it Timbo? If it was just the crow sounds I'd say no, rather anyone could be using the same sounds and I'd even say the same thing to the "HO" but what really is the clincher for me is the "EEEE" sound which makes me thing Tim really is behind the boards. What do you all think? Do you hear any other "Timbaland" sounds in the track? Weigh in.

And check that background "Baaa" at around 2:01, is that a pitched sample of George Kranz "Din Da Da"? Czar where you at?!

JoJo Talks New Album with Danja and Jim Beanz

Looking forward to hearing what they came up with!

Doug E. Fresh and Timbaland

I like this news! Doug E Fresh recently talked with MTV and revelieved that he is going to be working with Timbaland in some capacity.

"My sons, they go by the name of Square Off," he said. "I enjoy helping. I have new music coming out. I'm working on some television shows. I still do a tremendous amount of concerts. I'm doing my restaurant. I got a club coming in New York. The restaurant is called Doug E. The club is called Fresh. It's a lot of different things going on. I'm developing a couple of real-estate projects. I'm looking forward to doing things with different artists. Me and Pharrell are doings some things. Teddy Riley, Timbaland, probably me and Will.I.Am. It's gonna be nice, man. It's a blessing. I'm going to bring in different people who can enhance the energy I'm coming with. I don't wanna bring in people for name recognition. I wanna get them because the energy lines up. There will probably be some new artists on the project. My sons Square Off, they're gonna be on the project."

Will it be some on a new Beaterator game? Maybe even some Under Construction type beats for a new album. Stay tuned!
