Continuing on with more Timbaland interviews this week, here's a radio interview with Tim at The Zoo. Tim talks about working on Shock Value, beef with Storch (it's back to being not a direct diss), why Madonna didn't make the album, wanting to work with Raskal Flats, and the Missy & Kanye track that never made the final cut. Check it:

Volume 8: The Final Chapter

What's up fellow Tim stans? As promised, if I didn't have Volume 8 out by last Friday, I would bring it to you all today.

Now, I named this thread "Volume 8: The Final Chapter" because this sample mix will probably be my last. I know I've said this same thing after each mix, and I've probably said it as many times as Tim has said that he's gonna retire lol, but I'm serious on this one. I've put out eight mixes in the last four years, and I just feel like it's time.

Since this is the last sample mix, it's the longest one that I've ever made. It's about 50 minutes long, with over 20 samples.

Now before I give y'all the link to the sample mix, I have to give a special thanks to everyone who contributed in some way to this mix: Al Sween, J-Boogie, Big A (4xs lol), Snaxz, Johnboy, Jonathanp, Rooq, Malis, Phabinho (lek! lol), Carlos, DJ MD, and Santiago.

Alright, enough with the talking, here it is:

~Interview Week~ (Day 1)

I thought I'd throw out a new idea and give ya'll a week of nothing but Timbaland interviews via video, audio, and articles. I'll post some oldies from back in the day, some favorite songs of Tim's, and even break you off with a very current interview where Tim talks about the possibility of working with Ginuwine. To start off with here's a video of a radio interview Tim did back in March on B97:

Here is another one talking about Storch and Britney Spears:

M.I.A "Jimmy"

M.I.A's Kala leaked today and I have to say it's a solid album. Though it's all about free these days, I highly suggest you all buy it when it comes out as I plan to do. Say what you will about MIA but she's good for music. I feel that anyone who can bring a new sound and a new angle to the music scene is definitely a great addition to the industry. Stand outs on the album are "Bird Flu" "Boyz" "Down River" and "$20" (can you name the sample?) The worst track, however, is by none other than Tim himself:

M.I.A "Jimmy"

Not only the worst track on the album, "Jimmy" in my opinion is the worst Tim track ever made and has got to be Tim at his laziest. All he did was play the entire sample with MIA's vocals over it i.e. Baby's "Baby You Can Do It" which up to today help the prize for worst (and laziest) Tim track.

Thoughts?

Remix It! 50 Cent "She Wants It" Remixes

So last week I posted the acappella to 50's "She Wants It" and told anyone who's interested in doing a remix to send me one by today. Well I've got some dope remixes to share with ya'll! Great thing is some of these entries are from some new to The Chronicles beatmakers and producers out there as well as some long time favorites so thank you for your remixes. Take a listen everyone and please give your feedback.

Rare Reel

We haven't done one of these in awhile. Here's Aaliyah live at The Apollo:

Baby Girl you are missed.

Timbaland cancels 3rd leg of tour

Unfortunately due to "business issues" Tim will not be on the last leg of the Justin Timberlake tour when it comes back to the U.S. Sebastian just sent out this myspace bulletin:

****Timbaland will not be on the Justin Timberlake Tour due to business issues for the third leg. I just wanted to let those know who already have tickets and were expecting to see him. So we will not be on Tour but we will be in Vegas in the middle of August for a couple of weeks for the VMA's in Sept.

So if u will be in Vegas in August or the begining of Sept hit me up

Until then

Take Care

*sebastian*****

I'm not sure if that means Tim will be on the HBO/Timberlake special in early September which would be a big disappointment if not. I think all of his fans would love to have a HQ version of his live set from the concert.

6 Degrees of Seperation with Timbaland

MTV ran an article on Tim awhile ago talking about the fact that's he's worked with so many people these days you could play the 6 Degrees of Seperation game (ie Kevin Bacon) Check it out:

*****And all of this is really nothing new. For more than a decade now, he's produced ear-catching, ultra-distinctive hits for the likes of Justin Timberlake, Ginuwine, Aaliyah, Destiny's Child, Jay-Z and Nelly Furtado, to name just a half-dozen. In fact, while trying to compile a list of all of Tim's hits, one starts to think that it's entirely plausible he's worked with every single artist who's ever released an album ... ever.

We'll just call him the music business equivalent of Kevin Bacon, the guy so tenuously connected to every celebrity that kids in college invented a drinking game in his honor. And in order to test that hypothesis, I e-mailed my colleagues at MTV News, and asked them to submit the names of anyone who's ever recorded a note of music, to see if they could be linked to Timbaland in six steps or less.*****

Full Article

So let's play the game. Pick anyone and in 6 steps or less connect them to Timbaland. I'll try it.

Georrge Bush---Dana Carvey---Saturday Night Live---Eddit Murphy----Dr. Doolittle----Timbaland

George Bush was played repeatidly by Dana Carvey on Saturday Night Live which is also a show that Eddie Murphy got his start but he moved on to films including Dr. Doolittle which Timbaland produced Playa's "Your Dress" on the movie soundtrack.

Han Solo----Steve Speiberg---Drew Berrymore---Cameron Diaz---Justin Timberlake-----Timbaland

Han Solo played by Harrison Ford was also in the Raiders of the Lost Arc directed by Steven Speilberg who also directed E.T. which had a young Drew Berrymore who was in the movie Charlie's Angels with Cameron Diaz who used to date Justin Timberlake who made a few hits with Timbo.

What can you guys come up with?

EQ Magazine talks Justin LP

Last week we had Danja in EQ and this week we have an article about the creation of Justin's Future Sex/Love Sounds. JImmy D talks about the chemsitry him and Timbaland share(d) and some interesting tid bits about making the album. The most interesting part of the article is that apparently Justin financed the whole album himself. Hmmm...

****Douglass says that the traditional role of the producer — at least in the hip-hop world — has taken a 180° turn: “Many of the traditional skills of a producer are no longer needed. Now a guy can walk in with a few beats, hand it to the songwriter, and when an artist is done, call himself a producer. In my day, this guy was called a programmer. He supplied that part on which the song would be built.”

Still, one cannot minimize the extraordinary gifts of a producer like Timbaland: “He sees the whole vision and has his finger on the pulse of what modern people want to hear,” Douglass says. “These days, a good producer brings the savvy to find the right sounds that will draw the people.” A good example of this, Douglass says, is the Roland TR-808, a piece of gear that experienced a massive resurgence in hip-hop and R&B long after its initial demise in popularity. “We passed on after it had its day — now, somebody looks at it and says, ‘Hey, this is really cool. The kids would like this!’ Suddenly it’s on every other record in hip-hop and R&B. A good producer brings that sensibility — that’s why you hire him,” says Douglass.

Throughout the production of FutureSex/LoveSounds, Douglass, Timbaland, Hills, and Timberlake all appreciated that there was no pressure coming from a record label because Timberlake financed the record himself. “Justin was like, ‘Here’s the record, take it or leave it.’ This was a great way to work, as the label wasn’t around saying ‘change this, change that.’ After all, the record company’s job is to keep the artist happy and keep selling those records — not to tell you how to create it!”*****

NLT "He Said She Said" (Time We Let Go)

We told you about the boy band NLT and their up and coming work with Timbaland. We posted the track "Hollywood" which at the time wasn't confirmed to be Timbaland produced or not. Since then it has been confirmed by NLT as produced by Timbo. The other track produced by Tim is called "He Said She Said" and had not been heard of unttil now. Check out the snippet of:

NLT "He Said She Said" produced by Timbaland

If you noitce Tim has pitched down the voicebox effect for this track the same way he did for Mario's "No Definition." I have a feeling though, that is not Tim but rather King from The Royal Court. I am not sure (yet) if The Royal Court co-produced with Tim on either of the NLT tracks but I have a feeling they did on at least this track.

As soon as I get more information I will be letting you all know. Thanks to Outrageous for the link.

J. Que (Of The Clutch) Interview

J Que is currently 1/5 of the amazing production/songwriting team The Clutch but he's been writing hits for years. His work includes hits such as Avant's "4 Minutes", Fantasia's "Truth Is", Omarion's "Icebox", and he even won a grammy for his work on Usher's Confessions having written Usher's smash hit "Yeah". Though this interview is from last year, it is without a doubt one of the best about the behind the scenes of music making and songwriting. Que definitely keeps it real on every subject. He talks about The Clutch:

J. Que: Yes. There were a couple of companies that pulled us all together. We wrote...we got along great. We wrote and recorded six songs on a Friday. By Tuesday, four of those were gone. So we kind of sat back and said, "Well maybe we should think about doing this a little more often." So myself and Zeke decided that "Well fuck that, we're going to form a clique." Because Atlanta has pretty much stayed hot forever off of having a hot ass clique. So we were going to do the clique thing. We got on board and told everybody else. They were with it. We sat down and worked for a little while on trying to work some shit out. We got together as "The Clutch" around the beginning of this year. Since then, we've been able to lock down multiple song deals, about 60 records placed, a couple of singles. We got about seven singles about to come out. And...we're loving it. I mean one of my big things that I've always fussed about, not in a bad fussy way, but just trying to make sure that people get is using the word "producer" correctly. Because in the urban game it means something completely different that it means in any other type of music.

What a producer is:

J. Que: OK, a producer in the urban game for some reason people think that if you did a track...you're a producer. That doesn't make you a producer. That makes you a songwriter . There's a songwriter for people who write the music and there's people who write the lyric and melody. That's the composer of the song. A producer actually makes the sequence. If there was a team, the producer would be the coach. Which is why Puffy [Diddy], while he was doing his thing, was a very good producer. He had a great ear; he knew what was going to work. He'd go in...you may do the music, you may write the record. But he'll come and say "I don't like that, take that out, put the bell here, fix that, you need to do this here, you need to do that there. Alright let me listen. Alright cool. Mix that down, let's go." He produced the record. Like there are guys out there, I understand, that do tracks that are producers. Like Bryan Cox does tracks. He produces. But Bryan produces because he will also sit his ass at the board and make sure that the record's right. Bryan Cox is a producer because the record's not coming out without his "OK. Let's go."

Omarion's "Icebox":

J. Que: Umm, "Icebox" was actually real cool because Omarion's project was a project that we wanted to get on, but just dealing with some scheduling conflicts we were never really able to put it together. But, my little brother in crime, Eric Hudson, ended up getting the "Entourage" record, so we were really happy and excited for him about that. But we got a call from Sony, asking if we would be able to go in with Tim to do a record. And, you know the days they were trying to schedule it for just happened to be like two or three days when we weren't in session. So we were like "Yeah, you get us all there and we'll mash out." Of course Keri is already signed to Tim, so were like, "Whatever needs to happen...we're in." So we get out to L.A. and I remember because the day of the first session was my last day in session out in L.A. so I was double booked. I ended up getting out of my session pretty late, but [I] got over to the studio and O [Omarion] was already there and he had two tracks that had come from Tim's camp. He played one for me and I was like "I'm not really crazy about that one." And then he played me another track, which immediately caught my attention because it was definitely darker and I'm kind of into darker music. And that ended up being the "Icebox" track. So we sat around for a second and Omarion's absolutely full of ideas. So he's throwing ideas out, and he ended up saying he wants to write a song called "Cold." I wasn't necessarily crazy about calling anything cold because I told him, at the end of the day, I don't think people are going to flip [his] CD over, see a title called "Cold" and be like "That's my shit, I got to find out what that's about." I'm like that name's just not interesting enough. So we messed around and chopped that up and I listened to the track a little bit more and O screams at me "What about 'Icebox'? What about 'Icebox'?" I was like "What about icebox?" He was like, "I mean for the title of the song." I was like "Hell naw, nigga that aint hot!"

and much more so read the Full Interview

Look out for a lot of new music from The Clutch coming very soon including new work with Timbo. Thanks to Nep for the link.

Britney shoots video for "Get Back"

From the video shoot:

It has been confirmed that Britney Spears has shot a video for the Danja produced "Get Back." There has been a lot of different versions of "Get Back" posted on youtube and the net but, unless it is another track off her album, the real version of "Get Back" is the one posted here on The Chronicles via the paparazzi frenzy from a Spears shopping trip.

Source

This is her big comeback so let's see what she has in store for us. Did Danja bring the heat? Will Timbaland and Justin turn up? We'll post more info as it becomes available.

Thanks to Dutch and Kali for the info

New M.I.A Interview

Here is a very good interview with M.I.A from the village voice. She talks about the production of her new album, her trips around the world, the perks of not working with big time producers, and where she's at musically. Check it out:

****There's a Timabaland track that I guess is a bonus track on the album in the US, and it's on his album in the UK. It's a great song, but there's a part where he's like, 'Baby girl go to your teepee.' What was that?

Don't ask me! It was kind of funny. I don't like to butt in when that's going on. I just thought it was pretty funny at the time, so I left it. It was kind of funny to meet him and work with him. It was amazing because he's amazing at what he does; he's a legend. But by the time that our paths met, Timbaland had already been Timbaland and done all the cool weird shit. He's sampled babies and cows and things, and I was making tracks sampling chickens. And he was like, "I'm done being cool; I want to work with Celine Dion." And I was like, "So you just want to make Titanic?" And he's like, "Yeah, that's what I want to do." In my career right now, I'm not trying to make Titanic. I want my songs to just be what they are, and I wasn't thinking like that.

So that's what "Jimmy" is about? The journalist?

Well, "Jimmy" the song is a really old Bollywood disco song. It was huge. It's like "Thriller." When I was a kid in Sri Lanka, it meant a lot to me. My mom used to get me to be a professional party buffer. I used to dance a lot as a kid, so people hired me out at birthday parties. That was my theme song. I used to do a performance to "Jimmy." I used to have a cloak and a cardboard guitar, and I'd do this big disco-dancing number and get all the kids to dance, and then they'd pay me and I'd leave. So that song to me is really really personal. And I was in this place, in Liberia, and it was really heavy. I was doing lots of heavy, heavy stuff, not really thinking about romance. And obviously I'd been in this weird relationship before, and I'd come out of it, like "Maybe I should just do this mad trip and go meet this person." And it's just a mash-up of all those things, whatever I was going through that week. I wanted to redo "Jimmy" for a long time. When I was in India, I'd already recorded the strings and everything for it. But I'd never attempted to do "Jimmy" the whole time I was with Switch because it was just one of those songs; I had to be drunk enough to be that disco. It all came together that week.****

Czar's Sample of the Week

What's up Tim stans? It's that time again for Czar's Sample of the Week. But before I go into this week's sample, let me say something real quick about Czar's Timbo Samplemix Voume 8. I've been working really hard on it, and it should be out next week (if not next week then the Monday of the following week). So definitely be on the look-out for it next week. Now on to this week's sample of the week...

For this week I that I would showcase a sample that was used in more than one Tim track. The track is "Sunshine" from one of my favorite bands: Earth, Wind and Fire. Now immediately, all the Tim stans will recognize that the opening of "Sunshine" was sampled for the "Up Jumps the Boogie Remix." But, if you pay more attention to the track, you'll notice that Tim used part of the guitar for Jay-z's "Jigga What/Jigga Who." There are more examples of Tim using the same samples in different songs, but I wanted to showcase this one.

That's it for this week's sample of the week. Check back next week for Czar's Timbaland Samplemix Volume 8!

Peace,
Czar

The Unofficial Shock Value Videos

Along with the 3 official video for Tim's Shock Value there are 2 others that despite not being official, are still worth taking a look at. The first one is for One Republic's "Apologize":

The 2nd one is Amar's "Bombay."

With the choice for the 3rd single off Shock Value coming up and with a lot of positive response from fans to both of these tracks and the good response from the artists themselves to these videos, you just never know what will be chosen.

Britney Spears "Get Back" Snippet

This snippet has been floating around the net for a few days. There was no confirmation who the producer was until now: Danja. The quality is very bad but none the less take a listen:

Britney Spears "Get Back"

The video for proof (thanks to whoever posted it):

We told you about this callabo a couple of months back on The Chronicles and now we get to hear what they've been up to. MTV also caught the Spears/Danja scent and confirmed with Danja that indeed the track is genuine:

****That purported Britney Spears track floating around the Internet is the real deal, the song's producer, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills, has confirmed to MTV News. In May, the producer revealed to MTV News that one song set to be featured on her upcoming LP sounded like it belonged in a video game, and "Get Back" matches that description. "It's weird! It's catchy, but it's weird. It's hot," he said, adding that the hook and chorus made him laugh.*****

I have to admit and even though the quality couldn't be any worse, I like the track and am really interested in what the album version is going to sound like. Hopefully we'll have that for you real soon.

Remix Project: Week 7 Winners (very late)

My apologies to everyone for posting the winners of week 7 so late as I completely forgot. Week 7 winners are the SafeHandz remix with 12 and the Precision Mad Scientist remix with 9 votes. Congratulations to both of you for making the final spots on the mixtape!

So I will be putting together the mixtape in the next few weeks and posting it. I thank you all again for your entries, support, and participation in the project. It really was a great success and I plan to do more ideas similar to it in the future.

I'd love to have everyone do another remix as I have just gotten a great accapella today. Maybe sometime soon. Thank ya'll!

Timbo not Jay's Kingdom Come.........why?

We all hearad that Tim was going to be on Jay's Kingdom Come album from last year but in the end he didn't make the final cut. Why after so many hits together and so much chemistry would Tim not make a Jay-Z album? We saw Jay in the Diary of Timbaland video on MTV, they said they were working together but Tim's track never made the album.

Well take a listen in Jay's own words at what happened:

Jay talks about Kingdom Come

Scroll down to the 2nd post titled "Jay-Z Wins The First Annual “Fuckouttahere” Award" and right under the picture you'll see where it says "Jay-Z takes a call from Marley Marl on Ed Lover’s radio show" Press play and you'll hear what Jay-Z, considered one of the best to touch the mic, has to say about where Timbo was at with his sound last year.

EQ Article on Danja

Check out this article in EQ talking with Danja and going over some of the equipment he uses:

****But with such a lightning quick rise to producing some of the country’s top-selling artists, Hills admits that he is still working on the balancing act of dealing with oftentimes stubborn performers while maintaining the sounds he knows will work best. “It’s a definite challenge,” Hills says, “but if you have a beat that’s strong, you have to keep writing before testing vocals to match [the beat]. There are tons of ways to process vocals, to make them shine, and you want to make the track solid first.”

Hills’ workflow is obviously producing something right, considering the 70-plus tracks he has produced or co-produced in the last three years, consistently blending fresh beats with addictive melodies. But he puts surprisingly little stock into the tools of his trade, save for, of course, his trusted Akai MPC-4000. “I don’t need anything but my MPC-4000, my laptop, and Sonar,” Hills assures. “Everything I do is built around that. I’ll use the Triton for strings and horns, but nowadays I’m mostly using it as MIDI controller.”*****

Video: Dima Bilan "Number One Fan"

Big A was the first to break the news of this track here on The Chronicles and now Dima Bilan has released a video for the track:

This would be considered the Video Version of the track as it is different than the Radio Edit originally posted.

Duran Duran "Skin Divers" Live

We were able to give you the live version of Duran Duran's "Night Runner" and now we have their other Timbaland track called "Skin Divers." This track is also a live version but again it gives us at least a premisd of what vibe Tim was going for with these tracks. Check it out:

Duran Duran "Skin Divers" produced by Timbaland

Sounds very similar to "Night Runner" to me but I'm sure the two can be better distinguishable when the HQ versions come out. I have to say though this 80s vibe really seems to suit Duran Duran, maybe I'm stuck with their "Hungry Like a Wolf" sound since I was an 80s kid.

Czar's Sample of the Week

What's up y'all. It's time again for another installment of Czar's Sample of the Week. For this week's sample, I'm going to showcase a sample off a movie soundtrack that was saturated with hot Timbo produced tracks: Why Do Fools Fall in Love.

Now this soundtrack came out in 1998, a time when Missy and Tim were controlling urban radio, and so it's fitting that this album would be filled with Tim and Missy. The soundtrack just had some amazing tracks like "What the Delio," "Five Minutes," "He be back," "Get Contact," and among others. But for this week, I thougth that I'd showcase a sample off the Destiny's Child song "Get on the Bus." For some reason, the track didn't do too well in the U.S., but was made a mark overseas. At any rate, the strings that came in during the chorus of the track always stuck out in my mind and were a reason why I loved the song. I soon realized that those same strings were in Big Pun's "Glamour Life" off his 1998 album Capital Punishment. It wasn't until a few years ago when a friend of mine who does sample mixes too put out a volume that had the sample to "Glamour Life." I immediately asked him what was the sample, and what he shared with me, I'm going to share with y'all this week: "The World is a Ghetto" by Jazz guitarist George Benson.

So that's it for this week's installment of Czar's Sample of the Week. Check back again next week for another hot Timbo sample.

Shout out to Icegrill and the whole JFB squad!

Peace,
Czar

"Come Around" DJ ElIesoc Remix

M.I.A also states that there was a 2nd verse for the track that did not make it on the final version:

"i got my mind on my money but life can be way more fun
you can put your love in a gun but thats what keeps us on the run
i dont need to blow my spot or put you on blast to sell my one
run run talk is done , come down if you wanna get some

From the sound of "Bird Flu" and "Boys" this is the most anticipated album of the summer for me. Big thanks to Jono my man from Japan for the info.

BossPlayya presents: the Timstrumental of the Week

So I said July was gon be representing the ladies and that's mostly true this week.

I'm puttin 2 Timstrus out there this week. Last week's females were SWV w/ a Tim track from back in the day!! Tim has new fans that might not even have been born in 97! So, breakin from the established format, we gon go recent w/ this week's set.

First track, we're goin w/ The D.E.Y. Big A been educated people about this group a lil while back (2 guys, one GIRL), so go and re-read the archives. Regardless of what U think of this group, it all just falls away when you hear the Timstrumental, the whole track acquires a new dimension. This one is produced by TIMBALAND & The Royal Court (ICE BOX, NO DEFINITION, REARVIEW, ANONYMOUS, BEG FOR IT).

The D.E.Y.//GET THE FEELING timstru

Next, it's Nelly Furtado. Her latest single is DO IT. Damn that LOOSE album is deep w/ the singles! And that means more Timstrus! This is the track that has had many a talkback/comment box debate ablaze about it.

By now everyone knows the story so I aint even trying to get into it. I know there are 3 versions of this track. The original, the remake and Tim & Danja's version. All I gotta say is Good, Better, Best.

Next week, Nelly Furtado ft. Ms Jade versus Ms Jade ft Nelly Furtado (?!? -- Make sense?)

Jimmy Douglass breaks down "Sexyback"

Check out this great article on Jimmy Douglass in the July issue of the UK's Sound On Sound magazine on sale today. He completly breaks down the creation of Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback" from start to finish and tells exactly what Software and Hardware he used for each part of the track. Great read for all your producer/beatmakers out there:

Thanks to Unreal for letting me know about the article. What do you all think?

Watch Live Earth: Rihanna

I don't know if you all got to catch the Live Earth concerts last Sunday but they were actaully really good. The UK venue had the best line up by far but there were plenty of other good acts elsewhere Pharrell in Brazil, Joss Stone in South Africa, etc. Despite rumors, Duran Duran did not have Justin Timberlake or Timbaland on stage and did not perform "Night Runner" however Tim was still represented by Rihanna in Japan. She performed 2 Timbo tracks "Sell Me Candy" and "Rehab" Check them out:

Rihanna Live in Tokyo, Japan

You can watch all the performances from every venue. Just go to the right hand side of the page where it says "Venue & Playlists", pick the artist you want to see, and then pick the song that they performed.

Katherine McPhee "Love Story" Video

Here is the video for Katherine McPhee's Danja produced 2nd single "Love Story":

"Not Ur Gril" , also produced by Danja, is being considered for her 3rd single. Props to Bigmac for the video and info!

Speaking of Danja, did you all see the myspace bulletin Danja sent out yesterday: "IN WHAT GAME DOES A KING BEAT AN ACE???" Code for something? A trick? A pun on words? You decide....

Nelly Furtado "Do It" Remix F/ Missy Elliott

When I got this track I thought for sure it was a fake. I figured it would be an unmastered version of "Do It" with an added Missy verse off Supa Dupa Fly or an obscure B Side yet I was very suprised that the track is indeed authentic. The real question is what is this track from? After all the negativity, all the uproar, and all the controversy is Nelly going to release "Do It"? Yes indeed "Do It" will be Nelly's 5th single and will be released to radio on July 24th. No word on a video yet but you know we'll let you know when we find out. Obviously any and all legal matters have been taken care of and, drama free, now we all can enjoy:

Nelly Furtado "Do It" Remix F/ MIssy Elliott"

Speaking of Nelly Furtado, she will be performing a live 5 song concert under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France in recognition of Bastille Day on July 14th. It will be air live on Prime Time and be taped by France 2 national TV.

New Timbaland "Diss"?

Listen to Glasses Malone last verse on the 1st single off "Recordkingz - Heavyweight" (ABB Records, release Aug 28). "...give a fuck who did the track, fuck a Timbaland loop...". For those who don't know who he is: Watts' native Glasses Malone was signed like 2-3 years ago to SonyBMG, recently he moved over to Hoo Bangin Records/Cash Money Records.

Recordkingz - Da Money (feat. Glasses Malone)

if you need rare vinyl, drums, beats you should defintely check this site here. Many producers from Just Blaze, The Alchemist, Sha Money XL, Pete Rock to Buckwild are customers.

London’s Juliano "Recordkingz" Baker

Back to the topic: I spoke to G. Malone and basically all he is sayin is that rappers and fans alike pay to much attention to the producers of the song and not the rappers. Plus he is a big Timbo fan as well. I defintely agree. If you not affiliated with a top notch producer, a very famous artist, people give a fuck about who you are. I also catch myself not paying enough attention to upcoming rappers, if they don't have a beat from producer XY. But that's wrong, people are spoiled and most producers are overrated anyway (especially when it comes to prizes for the beats). So what u think about that statement?

Timbaland in Remix Magazine

This article is from last month and though I looked for it then, it was finally just posted on the Remix website. It's a pretty straight forward article though it does mention what kind of equipment Tim uses and talks about his new "junkyard sound". Definitely worth a read so here is a sample:

****“I call it the junkyard sound,” he explains. “It's about just taking it back to where I'm having fun, you know? I used to try to imagine how James Brown did it when he went into a jam session, and I made that my approach — mix in a little of the new electronic stuff, but keep it sounding live, too. And it started with all these types of drums that I've collected from different countries. I just got in the room at my studio and played them.”

The mad-hypnotic single “Give It to Me” (with Furtado and Timberlake joining Timbaland on the mic) is straight out of the junkyard. The song opens with a tribal beat laid down with sticks on what sounds like a handful of African drums and woodblocks; the drums are soon joined by a whistling sci-fi synth line (in the video for the song, Timbaland can be seen playing this on a Minimoog Voyager) and a low-end synth bass line that shadows a dry-sounding kick. By the time Furtado struts her sinewy stuff on the first verse — a weirdly syncopated melody that jumps off in the middle of the measure — it's clear we're into something far-out to say the least. Even crazier, the main rhythm comprises only two or three continuous passes of Timbaland's live performance, edited and spliced into minute-long chunks.

The track is a marvel of what has long been crucial to any Timbaland production — the artful and economic layering of sounds, but with strict attention paid to the spaces between them, which adds a weird feeling of looseness to the rhythm. The effect is almost like thinking you've reached the bottom of a darkened flight of stairs when you actually still have one more step to go — for an instant, the floor seems to slip out from under you until you regain your balance. Lend some drive time to “Bounce” — a menacingly dark slow-groove jaunt with Timberlake, Dr. Dre and Missy Elliott (whose priceless rhyme “Hold up/Hell no/Like Britney Spears/I wear no drawers” speaks unexpected volumes) — and you'll feel a similar sense of disorientation.

“There's really no method to the madness,” agrees Demacio “Demo” Castellon, who has risen through the ranks to become one of the lead engineers at Timbaland's Thomas Crown Studios in Virginia Beach (see the sidebar, “Crown Jewels”). “I think that's what gives Tim the edge. Any sound is open game to be put in at any measure. It's like a free-for-all. He's taken sounds from the weirdest places, and I've seen him make stuff out of it. I mean, dude took a baby crying and put it in a track [Aaliyah's “Are You That Somebody?” from 1998], so there you go.” *****

Rumor: Timbaland bringing Michael Jackson back?

Now ya'll should know by now I HATE rumors. I do my best to steer clear of them but more so to prove them wrong. So why post a rumor now then Boogie? Simply because I always love to bring a great discussion to The Chronicles and this particular rumor hopefully will generate a good one. Here it is:

****Timbaland has been talking a lot of talk about retiring and passing the torch. I think that’s all a diversion to do what no other producer can do. A lot of Hip-Hop producers are talking pop this, pop that, talking about how they are working with all these pop stars. Well, Justin is the new King of Pop and I’m hearing Timbaland is about to mess with the old King for his coveted comeback. That’s right. I heard Timbaland is going to be moving Michael Jackson from his Dubai home to Virginia Beach so he can bring Mike back. A lotta Hip-Hop producers do pop, but Tim has worked with pop stars like Bjork. Can he bring back MiJack?****

Source

You got to love illseed from allhiphop.com and even more so because he spelled Timberland wrong. So my question is do you think IF this rumor was true that Timbaland could bring Michael Jackson back considering all of what MJ has been through these last say 5 years?

Discuss...

Have you seen that preview?

I was lucky enough to get tickets to watch Transformers on the opening night last Friday. As I was watching the previews there was one that stood out from the rest. It was a short clip but a powerful one with no mention of the name of the movie or any other information about it except that J.J. Abrams the Lost creator was involved. Now being the stan that I am, immediately I noticed that "The Way I Are" was playing in the scene so after the movie, like everyone else, I searched for more information but there wasn't any. All of the previews had been deleted off Youtube by Paramount Pictures so I had nothing to post about it.

Until now that is. Here is the preview for the movie being called 1-18-08:

1-18-08 Moive Trailer

Even better though is the official website for the movie. Can you solve the puzzle?

1-18-08 Website

More and more information is developing about the movie. I'm just a happy stan to see Timbo somehow a part of it. Huge thanks to anonymous who posted the link to the movie. I've been waiting for it for the last week!

Remix Project: Week 6 Winners and Week 7 entries

My aplogies to everyone for being late this week. I was actually holding out to see if I would get some more entires but unfortunately I did not. Let's talk about the winners for Week 6 here first. Congratulations to the Doubl2-t Remix with 20 votes and the Kyser Remix with 18 votes, they are both the wnners this last week. We had a total of 76 votes which is a great turn out so I thank you to all who particiapted.

As for this week our acapella was Ginuwine's "Pony" and unfortunately I had got 4 entries for the week. With that said I'm sadly going to go ahead and close the project after this week's voting. I realize how hard it is to keep something like this going for 3 months, that really is a long time. We made it 7 weeks which I am more than happy with. I can't thank ALL of you enough for your particiaption in the project.

Please make sure to vote this last week for our 5 entries and then we'll take the 14 winners and mix them onto one mixtape and to keep things in The Chronicles style, I'll though in a little surprise for everyone. Again my thanks to each of you who submitted your remix. I know how much time and effort it is to make a remix and I really appreciation the participation. Also thanks to all those who took the time to vote. It means a lot to all these beatmakers and producers from around the world.

So again make sure to vote for this week's entries here:

Timbaland to perform at Live Earth Concert

Timbaland and Justin Timberlake may be making a surprise performance today along side Duran Duran at the Wembley Stadium in London, England. Seems they have been in talks for this secret performance the last few days but nothing is official yet. It has also been announced, or maybe I'm late, that the Timbaland produced "Night Runner" will be Duran Duran's 1st single off their new album Red Carpet Massacare. Here is the full story:

****Justin Timberlake will appear at the London leg of Live Earth this weekend, it has been claimed. The pop superstar is not currently on the bill for the Wembley Stadium show, but is in the UK on the latest leg of his "FutureSex/LoveShow" world tour.According to reports, Timberlake will play with Duran Duran at the concert, after he collaborated with the pop legends on their upcoming album, "Red Carpet Massacre".

He joins a bill that is headlined by Madonna and also features Razorlight, Keane, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, Metallica, Snow Patrol and Beastie Boys. Super-producer Timbaland is also expected to feature in the cameo role, according to The Sun: "Justin and Timbaland have been rehearsing their part this week. "They have something special up their sleeve for fans at Wembley. They are juggling the schedules to make it happen", a 'source' told the UK tabloid.****

EDIT: Timbaland and Justin Timberlake did not perform at Live Earth. In fact Duran Duran did not even perform "Night Runner". Love those rumors!

If you aren't familiar with the Live Earth concert definitely go to their website and check it out. It's for a great cause and former Vice President Al Gore is spearheading this unprecedented event.

BossPlayya presents: Timstrumental of the Week

BossPlayya checkin w/ the Timstrumental this week.

It's my daughter's birthday on sunday, so I decided I'ma dedicate July to the ladies. Timbaland has produced many great tracks thruout his career, and his chemistry w/ the females is always nice

For the first one, I'ma go back to the beginning of 1997. The BOOTY CALL soundtrack to the movie starring Jamie Foxx and Vivica A Fox came out. It was dominated by established artists such as R Kelly and Joe, had at the time fledgling producer Rodney Jerkins on there AND...Sisters With Voices were back with a new song.

I had no idea, CAN WE hadn't gotten single status yet, but that joint instantly became my fave off that cd. It stayed on repeat, I was happy as hell to see the Timbaland name in the credits. 'Dude is unstoppable' I remember thinkin...ONE IN A MILLION, THE BACHELOR and he kept it goin with this. The song became a huge radio smash, at least where I was livin. It didn't really help album sales, SWV squandered that by releasing it's album way too late.

It's a shame we never got to hear SWV do more tracks with Tim. Aside from Coko's HE'LL BE BACK, we probably won't hear her over a Tim beat again. This is a great track that has that signature 96/97 Timbo sound that was 'changing' R&B radio (as Tim has put it very often). Anyway, here goes CAN WE by SWV, a highlight of the Timbaland/Missy partnership.

SWV//CAN WE timstrumental

Czar's Sample of the Week

What's up fellow Tim stans?!?!!? First off, a BIG happy birthday to TCC's own Big A. He's been holding down all things Timbo and I just wanted to give a shout out to him.

Moving on, it's Friday and that means time for Czar's Sample of the Week. Since I was really late with last week's sample and posted it on Monday, I thought that I would hit everyone off with a small but good Timbo sample to get the weekend started off right.

One of the funniest Tim samples to me has to be the sample off Missy Elliott's "Bite Out Style" off the Supa Dupa Fly album. In the track, Missy talks about how the music that Timbaland and her create makes other artists and producers bite their style. But the track is funny because the track completely samples or bites "Morning Glory" from Jamiroquai's album The Return of the Space Cowboy. So what does it mean to make a song about people biting your style when on that song your completely biting someone else's style? Hmmmm....

Anyway, that's it for this week's installment of Czar's Sample of the Week. Check back next week where I'll showcase another Timbo sample.

Peace,
Czar

Rare Reel

I missed last week but I have a feeling this one will make up for it.

Picture it: "Ladies and gentlemen give it up for Tornado singing his #1 hit "Pony"!! I have a feeling Roderick is going to really like this vid.

Bigmac's Radio Rundown

Well people its another time to be a happy Tim fan!

"The Way I Are" is UP 12 spots for a #6 charting! All thanks to a 33.5% BOOST in audience and a 58% increase in download sales. Fabolous slips down 2 spots to #12 while "Summer Love" from Justin slips 1 spot to #9. "Give It To Me" slips 3 spots to #31 while Bobby V slips 2 spots to #64 with "Anonymous". Well Urban radio has finally come through for Justin and their numerous support allowing "Until the End of Time" to finally debut at #98! Danja also has a couple of chartings to report. His hit "We Takin' Over" may finally be near its end with a 10 spot slip to #54 but his 2nd charting is just now beginning with Paula DeAnda's "Easy" debuting at #96. All we need now is the video for "Love Story" from Katharine McPhee and that too shall begin to take off.

Mario's "No Definition"

Let's keep that new Timbo music going with the full track of Mario's

"No Definition"

You remember we posted the snippet of this track some time ago, well hold to it as it's actaully an alternate of this track. I am still trying to find out if The Royal Court was involved in this track. Big time thanks to Chin Checker for the track.

EDIT: This is a confirmed Royal Court and Timbaland track

50 Cent's "AYO Technology"/"She Wants It"

Seems there may be a little subliminal meaning to the former 50 Cent titled track "AYO Technology" now titled "She Wants It" Check out this article and see for yourself:

****Singer Justin Timberlake's new track 'She Wants It' in 50 Cent's third album is reportedly a porn number. Timberlake is going to appear in the video of fourth single of 'Curtis' with musical composer, R and B record producer and rapper Timbaland.

According to a source, the singer who penned the song with the rapper while on tour has actually disguised the word 'technology' for 'pornography' in the song. "The track is an analogy for watching porn. The word 'technology' was put in as a way to replace what they really wanted to say - 'pornography'," the Sun quoted the source, as saying.

The source insisted that the track which was earlier named 'Ayo Technology' is the singers' desperation to see 'stunning girls' giving dirty shots live. "It's all about being fed up with having to make do watching dirty movies and how desperate they are for stunning girls to be in front of them doing what they do in the movies," the source added.

Notable music video, advertising, and feature film director Joseph Khan will reportedly be shooting the video this weekend. Fiddy, Timberlake and Timbaland are said to play secret agents loaded with see-through clothes gadgets who will bother beautiful models. "The treatment for the promo has three spy characters stalking beautiful models," the source said. "They will be racked up with hi-tech gadgets and night-vision goggles which enables them to see through the girls' clothes," the source added. The source also revealed that although it will be a chasing sequence, the singers will 'push the boundaries' in a 'bit creepy and sinister' video. "It's a cat-and-mouse situation with car chases and gadgets galore but spying on the girls is the main theme. It will be a bit creepy and sinister," the source said. "They are going to push the boundaries with what they can get on film," the source added*****

Source

I have to admit after yesterday's findings about reliable sources, this article really makes me wonder if the real meaning of the track is true. Add to that the orignial source is The Sun, a very popular tabloid magazine from England. I hope the information about the video is at least true. I like Joseph Kahn videos and would be really interesting in seeing what he would bring with 50, Justin, and Tim.

I also have a little bonus for ya'll. Here is the FULL version of "She Want It"

50 Cent "She Wants It" Thoughts on the track?

Props to StarSheg for the article and Bigmac for the track!

Timbaland to quit music.......but there's more

Something we pride ourselves on here at The Chronicles is accurate and reliable sources for our news about Tim. What could be mistaken for solid news on the net from a reliable source may truly not always be the case. We all read the article about Timbaland planning to retire and saying he is "I’m too innovative for the world” and we all had our opinions about it. It's all over the net right now. Take a look here, and here , and here , and on Yahoo News here . These are all reliable sources right?

In addition, as of late there have been reports of Tim being a germophobe, flying only private planes due to the amount of germs. You can read about it here , here , here , and even here on Yahoo News again, for the UK. These are reliable sources aren't they?

Well in truth we aren't getting either of the entire stories about both Timbaland wanting to retire and Timbaland's germ phobia rather these so called reliable sources from multiple websites are taking the most news worthy quotes and lines from just ONE article. Here take a look at this FULL article from Channel U in the UK. Here are some highlights:

****Mosley, suffering from a bout of flu, seems stiff and awkward: between snuffles and grunts he looks like a mildly grumpy bulldog.

“Your health is more important than everything else,” he says, struggling through the symptoms. “I fly private so I can stick to one aircraft rather than have to sit with a bunch of people coughing and sneezing: that way I know what I’m dealing with. But you can’t get better if you don’t rest, and I’ve been going constantly, nonstop.”

The irony is lost on him as he pushes himself through the ardours of the all night video shoot. And yet, as he acts out his guy-chasing-girl routine with the glamorously disdainful Hilson and mimes to the same first verse of his next single, The Way I Are, he begins to look as though he might just be enjoying himself.......................

All this chopping and changing personas, and crafting music for A-list artists who are always demanding something a few steps ahead of today’s trends, seems to be taking its toll.

“I don’t need to do anything for money,” Mosley says. “I’m just glad to have a job. But music is boring right now. I’m too innovative for the world. I’ve been doing it so long, I’m about to throw in the towel.” He arches his right eyebrow, checking to see if this titbit has hit its intended target.

“I’m about to decrown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me,” he continues. “They won’t be able to be me – there’s only one Timbaland – but there’s a certain sound that I try to teach.”

And then he’s off again, talking about producing some tracks for the rock band One Republic, the flu – and thoughts of retirement – seemingly cast aside in the rush to enthuse. “I just wanna make people happy,” he says, finally allowing the tiniest glimpse at the source of his motivation. “I like doing shows, entertaining people. I can’t make ’em happy – I’m not God, and only God can control your emotions and your moods. I just like to be a part of their mood swings: that’s what I like, and that’s why I love my music.” *****

Just adding the additional lines which I have put in italics creates adds a different demention to Tim's statements. If you notice they have been strategically deleted as they have been re-posted on other news sites. I find it amazing how so called reliable news and music sites from around the globe can just take one or two lines from a full 15 paragraph article and spin it in any direction they want. Is Tim a germaphobe? Possibly be but he's also giving the interview with the flu, though despite that he pulls an all nighter for the video shoot in good spirits. Was Tim's "I'm too innovative for the world" comment out of line? Possibly yet at the same time Tim talks about wanting to make people happy, entertain them, and be a part of their moods through his music.

In today's age of internet websites and blogs anyone can write a "factual" story without bothering to check their sources, rather they just want an audience, they want some sensationalism. That's not how true journalism should be, rather it should rely on fact. This article is a great example of what it means to really understand the overall perspective of the context in which Tim was talking about his views on retirement and germs versus reading re-posted quotes from his most over-the-top comments.

We don't always get it right on The Chronicles but we try hard to make sure we are providing the most factual Timbaland information out there. Just seeing how one article can turn into a huge negative publicity fiasco has really made me think about what kind of information is being presented on the net. Plus in a format that would lead one to think of it as truth whether it be from someone's personal blog or yahoo.com when in reality it's not. It's a good lesson for all of us to not always believe what we read.

The Envy Life: Keri Hilson

Listen carefully and you'll hear a couple of new Keri tracks. Props as always to Hypnotik for the link.

Danja and T.I. vs. T.I.P

I'm sure you all remember that Entertainment Weekly T.I article posted on The Chronicles some time ago which goes in to detail on the Timbo/T.I track for T.I's new album. Despite the article, the track did not make the cut but let's hope somewhere it resurfaces.

We do, however, have the 3 Danja tracks from the album for you to listen to and of course give your comments on. Yes they have been out for a minute now, but our Danja expert Nick is currently on vacation so we're playing catch up. T.I's new project is in stores now called T.I vs T.I.P

T.I. "Respect The Hustle"

T.I. "Tell 'Em I Said That"

T.I. f/ Alpha Mega & Busta Rhymes "Hurt"

In my opinion "Respect The Hustle" comes across as boring and formulated though there are a few cool sounds in there. I'm always a sucker for choral voices and Danja (and Tim) use them the best so I'm happy with "Tell 'Em I Said That." "Hurt" though is where Danja shines. The drum placements are wicked! Busta shines on the track and Danja proves why he's the best "new comer" in the game thus far.

What about everyone else, ya'll feelin' these tracks?

Keri Hilson on MTV

Notice how Keri Hilson is slwoly becmoing more and more of a houehold name? She went from jumping on the remix of LL Cool J's "Headsprung" and Xzibit's "Mean Muggin" to be on Diddy's album and all over Timbo's album. She's also been getting some major press lately and it only seems right that MTV recognizes her talents as well. Check out the feature:

****Hilson, who is signed to Timbaland's Mosley Music Group, says her debut is a mix of "hard-hitting drums, R&B melodies, some pop elements, even some alternative."

"The album is called In a Perfect World," Hilson said. "It's my way of saying nothing in the world is perfect and no person in it is, either. None of us is exempt from certain hardships and heartbreaks. It was really important for me to write songs that women can relate to from real situations. I didn't want to do an album that painted myself as perfect because no matter how things look, no one is."

Timbaland and Polow produced most of the project, along with Nate "Danja" Hills.

"Polow is more hands-on, and Timbaland just kind of leaves," she said of the producers' styles. "Both of them used to baby me when I first got the record deal. They were kind of like, 'Oh Lord, what is she going to do?' I think I earned their trust, more so Tim. He just leaves the studio, and I love it. He gives me the creative freedom that a writer wants.****

From the solo tracks I've heard so far from Keri I have to say I'm really interested in what she has for us on her new album. More so though I'm interested in what Tim is going to bring to the project. All of the tracks he's produced for her have been fire, "Love Ya" "Where Did He Go" "Hello" and especially that unreleased track off Shock Value. There's no release date yet for In A Perfect World though I have heard rumors that her first single will be released late summer, maybe Spetember.

"The Way I Are" Nephew Remix

If you remember a couple of months back on The Chronicles we told you about the Danish group Nephew who were supposed to have a track on Shock Value but unfortunately due to time constraints they were not able to make the track with Tim. With the success of "The Way I Are" however, Nephew is getting their chance in the limelight with their official remix of the track. Check it:

You can check out more from Nephew on their myspace Thanks to Hypnotik for the link.

Timbaland to quit music?

Timbaland has mentioned it in the past about how he's such a great producer that music can't handle him hence his break for a few years. Now he's back with similar thoughts on his greatness and music:

****Washington, July 1 (ANI): Music producer Timbaland has revealed that he's about to say goodbye to music because he's "too innovative for the music world."

The hip hop star claims that he has grown disenchanted with music and so is preparing for retirement as soon as he finds a suitable protege to pass his genius on to.

"I don't need to do anything for money. I'm just glad to have a job. But music is boring right now. I'm too innovative for the world," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying.

Timbaland added that though nobody would be able to match his stature, he would try to teach some of his sounds to up-and-coming producers.

"I've been doing it so long, I'm about to throw in the towel. I'm about to de-crown myself and pass it over to one of the up-and-coming producers under me. They won't be able to be me - there's only one Timbaland - but there's a certain sound that I try to teach," he added.****

Let me ask ya'll, how do you feel after reading Tim's comments? What do you think about Tim quitting music because "he's too innovative for the world"?

My opinion: Who is Timbaland to say something like that? I don't care how good you are, how good you think you are, or how good people make you out to be come humble and come with some respect for music in general. You may be the best but let's not rub it in everyone's faces. Tim has complained about how boring music is many times throughout his career but instead of continually changing it and letting his music speak for itself, he comes with these outlandish quotes of how "everyone" is biting his style or that he's somehow "too good" for music.

I also have to wonder how The Royal Court or Hannon Lane feels reading these articles were Tim goes on and on about how he's the best yet they are working just as hard as he is on creating innovative and fresh, new music. When I read quotes like this the Timbaland fan in me slowly dies away. It becomes to hard to separate the Timbaland the incredible producer of Aaliyah's "One In A Million" and Missy's "She's A Bitch" versus the Timbaland who's too good for the world to possibly handle.

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of opinions on this subject, even within The Chronicles team, so please share them.

The Remix Project: Week 7

My HUGE apologies for the late post this week. It's been a busy day. So here we are at week #7, we're over 1/2 done. We haven't done a Timbo ballad yet so why not go with a classic. How about Tim's first big hit Ginuwine's "Pony":

Czar's Sample of the Week

What's up Tim stans? I was out of town for the weekend so I couldn't do the sample of the week last Friday, but I will try to make up for it with the sample(s) today. But before I go into the sample(s) of the week, some of y'all have been e-mailing me and such asking when Volume 8 was going to come out. Well, I planned to get it out at the end of last month, but it just didn't work out. So expect it to come out this month! Now let's move on to Czar's Sample(s) of the Week.

Since I was late for the sample of the week, I thought that I'd showcase multiple samples off one of my favorite Tim tracks: Nicole Wray's "Make it Hot." One thing that made me appreciate this track more than I had before was when I learned that Tim sampled from at least THREE tracks to make this beat. I say at least three because I only know of three tracks that he sampled, but there's no doubt in my mind that there are more sampled songs in that track. What's interesting about these three known tracks that Tim sampled for "Make it Hot" is that they're all by the same band and off the same album: The Art of Noise's 1984 album, "(Who's AFraid Of?) The Art of Noise." The little saw sound that leads into each verse on "Make it Hot" is sampled from the track "Who's Afraid (Of the Art of Noise)." The main beat on the second verse of the Nicole Wray track is from the song "Snapshot" of the Art of Noise album. Lastly, around 2:16 on "Make it Hot" you'll hear a "ba ba ba" sound in the background. Well, that sound is sampled from "Beat Box (Diversion One)." Tim stans will recognize the opening of "Beat Box" because it was also sampled for the beat switch in 1 Life 2 Live's "Can't Nobody" track off Tim's Bio.

So that's it for this week's (or last week's?!?!?!) installment of Czar's Sample of the Week. Check back on Friday where I'll showcase another hot Timbo sample or samples...

Peace,
Czar

Cassidy and Timbaland

Timbaland is scheduled to be a part of the production team on Cassidy's upcoming new album B.A.R.S along withothers. His first single the Swizz Beats produced "It's On (I Got My Drink and My Two Step" has already been released to radio stations. Here's a snippet of the article:

****Lest fans be confused, Cassidy insists "B.A.R.S." should not be mistaken for a gospel album. "It's not church music -- it's just street songs," he says of the project, which features production from Swizz Beatz, Neo Da Matrix, Scott Storch, Timbaland and Cool and Dre. "So many serious things happened in my life. What I'm talking about has nothing to do with me being a rapper, but with me as a person."****

Some of you may remember long ago there was a rumored unreleased track by Cassidy called "Do It For Me" produced by Timbaland. I wonder if this track may show up on this project? Hmmm... Props to Big A for the article!

Remix Project: Week 5 Winners and Week 6 entries

Here we are at another week closed. Lots of new music on The Chronicles for all of ya'll and of course yet another week done for the remix project. We have 2 more winners for last week's "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" remixe and that would be Smiff and Helmoholtz both with 8 votes. Wow we only had a total of 24 votes. It really seems like the project is fading.

I have hope, however, that the porject will stay afloat especially looking at this week's entries. I got 11 total which is great and I thank each of you for rallying behind the project to keep it alive. Let's keep up the effort! Thanks everyone!

Here they are for week 6, the halfway point of the project:
