Check out this great article on Jimmy Douglass in the July issue of the UK's Sound On Sound magazine on sale today. He completly breaks down the creation of Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback" from start to finish and tells exactly what Software and Hardware he used for each part of the track. Great read for all your producer/beatmakers out there:

Tim needs Jimmy D....
ReplyDeletethe best article on the actual contruction of a song I've ever read....
I dont produce or anything but I really enjoyed the read. Thanks1
ReplyDeleteinteresting, thanks
ReplyDeleteas long as u danja haters see how much he CAN do.i dont think that timbaland always hums shit to him. those are danjas synths n shit, and along with "my love", he has a nice START to his career. not many ppl can boast of being timbos partner at what? like 25? timbo is the drum king but u gotta giv danja his props as bein more than a studio musician. he really isnt as crappy as sum ppl make him sound wen he is on his own. if he were to maintain the "timmy" sound yall wud call him a major biter, so now that he trys to put his own simple drum flavour to things yall still dislike his shit.
ReplyDeletefuck Danja...
ReplyDeleteThat article was awesome. It's cool to read step by step how a song is done. I had no idea a mixer had so much input into songs. Jimmy really put his stamp all over "SexyBack" didn't he?
ReplyDeleteI laughed when I saw that it was Jimmy that shouts "Ya ready!?" I always thought that was Tim. :D
Lovin this article Boogie...
ReplyDeleteU gotta luv reading about the creative process... especially from the perspective of a man like Jimmy D. A lot more than bangin on random keys goes on behind the scenes. lol.
P.S. Ya'll jealous ass cats need 2 relax on all that fuck Danja B.S. Don't knock the man's hustle.
