M.I.A's Kala leaked today and I have to say it's a solid album. Though it's all about free these days, I highly suggest you all buy it when it comes out as I plan to do. Say what you will about MIA but she's good for music. I feel that anyone who can bring a new sound and a new angle to the music scene is definitely a great addition to the industry. Stand outs on the album are "Bird Flu" "Boyz" "Down River" and "$20" (can you name the sample?) The worst track, however, is by none other than Tim himself:
M.I.A "Jimmy"
Not only the worst track on the album, "Jimmy" in my opinion is the worst Tim track ever made and has got to be Tim at his laziest. All he did was play the entire sample with MIA's vocals over it i.e. Baby's "Baby You Can Do It" which up to today help the prize for worst (and laziest) Tim track.
Thoughts?

ReplyDeletei personally think jimmy is one of the hottest tracks on the disc, but that's just me. and i didn't know tim produced it until now.
ReplyDeleteThat "jimmy" song is a banger, it remind me of some old bollywood movies. definetely not a wack track like you think...
ReplyDeleteis Jimmy for sure Timbo produced?
ReplyDeleteeither way I think its one of the hottest tracks on the album....
jimmy ain't bad @ all..it does have the old bollywood feel like homie above me said

ReplyDelete4 real JIMMY is the best track of the album!!

@ the person who wrote this here --> "Report the news, nobody cares about your oppinion J Booger. "
ReplyDeleteits his good right to say his opinion, its called freedom of speech. especially since he runs the blog. so shut the fuck up and keep that cocyk talk in your own house.
This track is very boring... I like the Bollywood feel, but it's boring nonetheless. I wouldn't call it Tim's worse track, his worse track was the one on "The Big Bang," album. I can't believe Busta accepted that garbage.
ReplyDeleteLove the album - like Jimmy! The best track is BAMBOO BANGER, though. That shit is HOTTTTTTTT!
ReplyDeleteI really do not like M.I.A but thats just me.
ReplyDeleteI could only listen to the first 20 seconds. wow
ReplyDelete-schmenkee
jimmy is a cover of a bollywood track of the same name i think, i remember M.I.A. talkin about it in an interview.
ReplyDeleteI really dont think this sounds like tim tho...Either way the track is hot..it would bang in a family dance lol
doesnt sound like Timbo to me...but its a definite bollywood rave! :0
ReplyDeletechange the drums and you got a banger.
ReplyDeletebro, this song is not produced by Timbaland. This is only the covered version of an old hindi song.
ReplyDeletethis is produced by Switch not Timbo
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think she produced this with Switch and not Timbaland. And yes, it is the worst track on the album and everyone seems to love it. It's just a boring disco cover. The original is better.
ReplyDeletejust want to say that of all the tracks on Kala, "jimmy" is the one that most bloggers and early reviewers have been gushing about. Personally I think it is pretty good, regardless of how lazy the production was. This sounds like a new sound/direction for MIA, I like the concept of "bollywood rave" haha.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, she needs to stop trying to actually sing. I hope she doesn't do that on the whole album...at least not with obviously tonal music. And this song/production/everything is awful.
