Czar's Sample of the Week

What's up y'all? It's Friday again, and that means another installment of Czar's Sample of the Week. Instead of showcasing a sample for this week, I decided to showcase an interpolation.

Seeing that interview that Boogie posted today with Tim talking about "Indecent Proposal," made me want to use a sample off that album for this week. We all remember the track "Drop," with the hard latin horns and Fatman Scoop screaming everywhere lol, but my favorite part of the track was the break down. That break down is so smooth and has that 80s dance feel. Well, there's a reason why it has that 80s dance feel: the track interpolates the song "Get It Up" by The Time. "Get it Up" was the first song off the debut album for The Time, a group whose lead singer and friend of Prince, Morris Day, would become extremely famous after the film release of "Purple Rain."

So that's it for this week. Since the Sample Wars II starts on Monday, there won't be a sample of the week. But definitely be prepared for a war between all of us at the Chronicles. It's gonna be insane!!!

Peace,
Czar
