T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake "If I"

Along with the new Busta/Danja track, a lot of you have brought to our attention the new T.I. banger featuring Justin Timberlake named "If I." Numerous blogs and websites have reported this track is produced by Timbaland. Even Rolling Stone is reporting the track as Timbo. Take a listen:

BUT this is The Chronicles and sure we might not be Rolling Stone or MTV, but we still give you that exclusive news when we can.

"If I" is actually produced by none other than....*drum roll*....Rob Knox and Justin Timberlake of the Y's. Yep that's right the same duo responsible for T.I.'s other smash "Dead and Gone". Knox has been mentioned a few times here on The Chronicles and his production skills can not be denied. Dude is dope!

Who are the Y's you ask? That would be Rob Knox, Justin Timberlake, and James Fauntleroy. An insane group of talent who you will be hearing a lot more from in the coming year. Don't sleep!

  1. I like the track, kind of feel more could of been done to leave a memory scar. But nope.

And last I heard of "Rob Knox"... when I hear the name, I think of the disdain people have for him. Or some...

Keep doing ya thing. I keep hearing your name and there is no"disdain" bout it.

  5. Venture didn't say he had disdain he said people...read carefully, anyway the song is dope doesn't sound nothing like tim I think this is suppose to be on the deluxe edition or release Rob said in a interview on hiphopdx where he was discussing how he and justin did dead and gone.

  7. Justin needs to work on his guitars... shit sounds like "Magic" and Madonna's "Dance 2nite". And, he hasn't produced a good song by himself since Duran Duran's "Falling Down".

It's nice that Fauntleroy joined a group (with a fellow Underdog, it seems), but they need to get that production tip under control. I honestly wish James had formed a supergroup with fellow pens Steven Russell, Lonny Breaux, Lonnie Bereal, Micah Powell (am I forgetting anyone lol) and producers Midi Mafia instead. They're doing their THANG on those reference tracks.

  8. Frederick are you crazy?? You want James to form a group w/ Lonnie Bereal and Micah?? What the hell would posses you to even think about that team? If you guys would do your research, you would see that James and Rob started out together and all of their Chris Brown stuff they did. As far as what I heard, these 2 were the ones that kept the Underdogs in business. Like I said on my comment before man.. Haters!! I just want everybody to look at your comments on here and realize that all whoever is trying to bash on these dudes, your doing something called "HATING"..

  12. hahaha....people are funny. Y does one hate? Y do people have disdain? Y is it that most people strive to hate those with a great sound? Y would James team up with B-listers? Y does Big A think Rob is a knock off Tim? Y are you still reading this?

the answer...You just want something to talk about.

Rob is probably the dopest producer on the come up. Sure his sound can be comparable to Tim, but wouldn't you love to be in his shoes? He gives us the sound we loved Tim for and are missing....point blank

  13. and to Fred, why would any of them team up? and why with Midi?

  14. Timbaland is getting bitten really hard by Rob and why is he not doing anything about it? If he is waiting for 09 he better drop an atomic bomb because rob right now is beginning to take his thunder. He should be ashamed of himself that he has copied timbaland's style to the point where people are getting him confused with Tim. What's funny is that he is KINDA doing a good job at it.

  15. "and to Fred, why would any of them team up? and why with Midi?"

Well... it was just one of those fantasies that comes to mind out of the blue. It's just that as a team they'd have more credibility. Look, they don't NEED to team up at all, they could just keep collaborating separately with the Mafia.

But, I chose Midi Mafia because they could very well possibly change the sound of R&B, unless their songs continue going to Top 40/pop artists the likes of David Archuleta (he ripped Fauntleroy on his rendition of "Running", though).

No skin off my back, I still have the reference tracks on my iPod.

  16. @Frederick
I mean Midi Mafia are doing their thing. They make solid songs. But I don't think their tracks are BANGING. I never understood why people go to them for production. They just had luck with that 50 Cent song back then.

  17. This song doesn't sound like something tim would do i was thinking more neptunes than tim at first. Chris I can see what your saying though there is now several producers that when you here the beat you think its tim for example rob knox, brian kidd, Tim used that style its what made him a beast but because of biters he switches to something else, but in a way tim is a real producer in the since he didn't want to stay using it,tim has gone into other genres and now you see the likes of just blaze doing more pop tracks, kanye is experimenting more now,Polow has been in pop for awhile also. Tim isn't a follower he is a leader and willing to take chances while others bite what he did almost a decade ago.

  18. yo.. these are older tracks you are hearing.. watch around summer time the Y's will be in full effect... the chemistry is like no other... everyone takes elements from other producers and makes hot music ( well maybe except RLes lol)

    Merry x-mas
