Cop That Disc: Danity Kane Welcome To The Dollhouse

I realized that I hadn't posted the full versions of the Danity Kane/Danja tracks from Tuesday so here they are:

"Bad Girl" F/ Missy Elliott

"Pretty Boy"

"Striptease"

Danja definitely did his thing on all 3 of the Danity Kane tracks. Each track has some great sounds and little Danjaisms especially "Bad Girl" with it's various screwed spots. Yet as soon as I try and peg Danja for a particular style, he mixes it up with something different. Now if there's anyone who still doubts the genius of Jim Beanz listen to what's going on vocally in "Bad Girl", it doesn't get much better than that. For me though, "Striptease" is the stand out track both vocally and production wise. Beanz always comes up with these amazing ad-libs and little vocal subtleties that makes his tracks stand out. The album is in stores now so make sure you pick it up!

Your thoughts?

Addition: Despite what the liner notes may say (and yes you're right they're supposed to be accurate) I stand behind 100% behind the credits given to Jim Beanz.

  1. Bad Girl for me is nothing short of genius... girl band yeah yeah put everything aside.... but the singing, the vocal arrangement (SO much detail), attention to detail, chords, originality, effects, structure, it's an incredible track.

Bad girl is great simply cuz of the variety of sound. I like pretty boy but for me aswell Striptease is my favourite.

2 of you is also great written by Wynter Gordon. Look out for this girl...if u haven't checked out her latest track Surveillence...then get it ASAP!

  4. These three tracks are kind of some other level of pruduction. They are futuristic and special. It's not standart cheap pop music.

  5. "Bad Girl" is just huge 10/10

  6. Jim Beanz did NOT do the vocal production on these tracks. He only worked on one track on the album, and it wasn't a Danja produced track. Someone named Mary did most of the vocal production. Check the liner notes.

  7. But yes, these tracks are incredible. "Striptease" is on another level of craziness for me. And "Pretty Boy" makes me want to dance like no other, haha.

  8. Mary Brown has the most vocal production credit on the album. Jim Beanz only has a vocal co-production credit on "Poetry." Mary Brown has the credit for "Bad Girl." "Pretty Boy" and "Strip Tease" have no vocal production credit listed.

  12. the liner notes are wrong!!! jim beanz absolutely did the vocal production on 90% on the album. anyone who knows Jim Beanz work will know its him and NOT mary brown, who ever the hell she is. the label messed up and the credits will be corrected on the next run of cd's. so stop hating and support real talent

  13. JIM BEANZ DEFINITELY DID THE VOCAL PRODUCTION ON BAD GIRL AND STRIPTEASE... IF YOU WATCH THE RIGHT EPISODE YOU'LL ACTUALLY SEE HIM DOING THE VOCAL PRODUCTION FOR "BAD GIRL"... AND HE IS ALSO ONE OF THE WRITERS ON "STRIP TEASE"... "THE CREDITS ARE DEFFFFFFFINITELY WRONG!!!!!"

  19. If Mary Brown is the Mary Brown I know (she did writing for Malik Pendleton for the real production/writing credit stans - SWV's "Lose My Cool", Mary's "Seven Days" background vocals, his Diana Ross tracks etc) she IS an awesome vocalist and writer but its obvious from "Bad Girl" that Jim Beanz did do the vocal production, and it was shown on the episode itself so case closed! Booklet credits ARE NOT ALWAYS right duh, I have seen it many a time, I mean look at some of Timbo's early tracks, he wasn't even given credit for tracks he PRODUCED, never mind just vocal production credits so it can happen! Even on Cheri Dennis' album he wrote "Act Like U Know" as he is the only writer (except Timbo who only got writing credit naturally from producing the track) but didn't get vocal production or arrangement credit, its not always important to the people writing these booklets to include little stan credits like that for us sad asses!

I seriously digress but "Bad Girl" is AWESOME it should without a doubt be the next single. And my girl Candice (I LOVE her) and The Clutch did their damn thing on "Sucka For Love" after "Pretty Boy" disappointed me a little. (not their usual standard but I see its place on the album)

The girls are doing their thing they really caught me off guard with this album I'm really feeling them!

  20. Btw in response to anon. 10000000 (damn, get a name people!) Britney's "Gimme More" was a hit and you clearly were hating because its not all about hits, its about writing talent that people who are really into music look for, not how well it did on the charts and what everyone else thinks of it...

  21. Don't forget Beanz worked on almost the whole Nelly Furtado album, etc. He's the best in his field! He's the one that made the hypnotic chorus on Maneater sound soooo goood.... (along with the rest of the album of course)

  32. "Bad girl" is RIDICULOUS!!! The way Danja came with that shit is serious. This song HAS to be a single. I usually hate when Diddy hops on tracks, but I actually liked the way he introduced the girls on "Bad girl" when the snippet leaked. Though given the intro to the album, it would've been redundant for the girls to be introduced again. A mention has to go to Missy, because her verse was HOT!

I also love how Jim Beanz is able to have intricate and hot harmonies and vocal production on a club track. It's rare that you get such tight vocal production on tracks such as this. That n***a should've been handling business on "4 minutes", because the vocals on that are weak. Shit sounds like it was done in one quick, ragged take.

"Strip tease" is also the business. I just love how tight the production is on that.

  33. Danja also had a part in "Damaged"
