Keri Hilson 'Return The Favor" snippet

We told you exclusively about what was supposed to be Keri's first single and now we have a snippet of the track produced by Timbaland:

"Return The Favor" (Kiss Me)

What do you think, better choice than "Energy"?

  1. Sounds good. Anytime Timbo goes back and forth with a female it works.

  2. wow i like this so much better than energy!! and i completely agree with the person above me.

  3. sooo much better than that "energy" crap, but i don't know if it's strong enough to be a single. if keri wants to be huge, she needs something that's going to make an impact the way "crazy in love" did for beyonce or "1, 2 step" did for ciara.

  4. sadly, i was expecting this song to sound like this..

  5. Not that good. Definitely not a single.

  6. As much as I LOVE "Return The Favor", I completely understand why "Energy" was chosen as a single. "Energy" relatable and has that crossover appeal that everyone is goin' for.

Thanks for the song post, J!

  7. EW! i usually like everything tim does even if its a stinker but i was expecting something like "promiscuous" or "sexyback".
especially the way writers were describing the song.
they said this song we'll have ppl "running to the dance floor"
ummm... if they were to play this at a party i dont think i would be able to run off the dance floor quick enough!

  8. I defintely prefer it over "Energy". but somehow I am still not impressed, maybe I just give the beats too much value...

  9. "Your Cover's Blown" is still her best track and we dont even know if it will make the album. Correct me if I'm wrong but it was recorded during the Shock Value sessions, right? That was ages ago.

  10. i think the happy juice song would of been a good single and snoop would of made a good look

  11. a lot of potential...you will see what this song does on radio. When i heard 4 minutes the first time, i didn't like it that much, but i knew that it would be a hit.
maybe not single material, but original...i think.
    Timbo's stuff is different...
    respect

  12. I think "Energy" was a best choice for a single, "Return The Favor" sounds like 2008 which is dated now.
Tim and his team has mastered all the sounds of today, we aint gonna hear anything fresh for a while, but i hope we do.

  13. "Your Cover's Blown" was recorded for Tim, not Keri...unfortunately we have no reason to believe that track will make it on to Keri's album or even see the light of day at all. :(

  14. sounds like danja... NO BASS bumpin' at all!

then again, danja's beats are rarely so boring.

  15. in the beginning of the snippet she reminds me kind of like Cheri Dennis?? idk i dont like how the beat starts getting faster in the middle idk it doesnt sound right to me overall as a track i do like it but energy is a better track to me this one is just all right but we would have to listen to the whole thing for a better review lol...who knows when thatll be lol

  16. OMFG Are you people crazy? This is HOT! I love the electronic beat and Candice's arrangement's are all over this, its awesome! I'm glad I've finally heard this as now I don't think I'n gonna be let down when I hear the final version.

I have a feeling this was recorded in the "Shock Value" sessions with The Clutch and Timbaland as Keri said there were a few songs they picked from until they chose "The Way I Are", so maybe "Your Cover's Blown" was another Clutch/Timbo song that didn't make the cut?

Can't WAIT for this album! More Clutch please!

  20. u nvr no this might be a huge hit...
cuz i thought that "way i are" and "apoligize" were such boring songs to put as singles and i got scared cuz i thought that they werent gonna do good but they blew up the charts.
its kinda growing on me too...
i dont like the beat tho its horrible it sounds like a video game.
energy and cover blow are amazing tho!!!!! so much better!!

  21. i'm guessing it's suppose to be like promiscuous, but it just doesn't flow correctly like promiscuous. the two exchange words like idiots. the synth's hot but it doesn't bounce or have that same club feeling.

  22. This one is bound to be a hit

    BTW:
    Check out "I see you"
    ft Attitude, DOE, Timbo
    definetely fire!

  25. Your cover's blown, is seriously burning up my ipod battery life...even if it is a snippet, its bloody awesome! I want that song to see the light of day :)

  26. ENERGY is a good song, no denying that, but GOT DAMN this is HOT!!!

    *nods head for 1:08*

  27. this pisses over Energy which felt a very average song indeed and not good enough for a debut single at all. i thought keri is on TIM's label and doesnt TIM call the shots here? seems like tims got his hands tied on this album. had it been tims choice i bet this album would be all tim/danja period just like ms jade and buba sparxx. o And the artist kiley dean

  28. @Frederick
what u mean by sayin that?

  29. THis is way better than Energy, and it has a different sound. Don't know if you guys noticed, but Tim is changing his sound. So keep up everyone.

This should of been the single, or truthfully "Your Cover's Blown" is the best choice and would do well everywhere.

    Lets see.

I want to hear a HQ of the final mix and mastered version. For some reason, I'm getting the feeling Tim is holding something out on us on this track... this sounds like a rough... so I'd expect for elements in the beat, etc...

  30. @Big-A
    ot -> off topic

cuz then if you start talkin bout that attitude song, someone's gonna post it and then someone else is gonna be like "this is OLD news" and then ... yeah. best to stay focused on keri hilson was all i meant.

    ReplyDelete
  31. oh ok. well I didn't even pay attention to that dude, cause that song is indeed already old news for this blog. it's like telling a gourmet chef how to fry his meat. its old news to him already...

    ReplyDelete
  32. track sounds pretty good! can see why its a leftover compared to 'the way i are' though - the drums don't have that bounce.

however it could be a track that opens up and we're only hearing the start. that little drum roll is awesome though - comes straight out of 90's dance music ;]

  33. jonathan: shes on Zone 4 as well, not just Mosley

  34. I rally love this, but she needed something explosive, to really capture the public and give her some attention (like Wildstariix said above me), like Crazy in Love. But this is nice. Makes me think tropical island + Video Game.

  35. So who else hears the church bells under the arpeggio?

  36. I prefer "Return the favour" to "Energy" on a first listen, but you can understand why they went with "Energy" as a 1st single. It's got a catchy hook and it's a safer, more radio friendly sound. I think "Return the favor" would make a hot second single. I'm not feeling Tim all over it though. She should've cut the track with Usher. Milk that publicity and have Usher "Return the favour" for appearing in his "Love in the club" video. :P
