Unsolved Mystery: Beyonce's "Timbaland Remix"

You want another mystery? Let Boogie give you one involving an apparent collabo between Beyonce, Timbaland, Voltio and/or Fabolous. A couple months ago I was told about a remix by Timbaland for Beyonce's "Get Me Bodied" featuring Voltio, a reggaeton artist signed with Epic. Despite it being tagged a Timbaland remix, I dismissed the track as a fake since I couldn't find anything on it and it just didn't seem like a possibility considering we'd heard nothing in the news from either the Timbo or Beyonce camps about it up to that point and let's be honest it doesn't sound like a Tim track whatsoever.

For the next month, I kept being asked about this track and I responded time and time again that it was a fake but as more and more news about the track kept popping up, I figured it must be mislabled and people are just jumping on the "Timbaland remix" bandwagon which happens all the time. It wasn't until very recently that someone (thanks Jonathan!) once again mentioned the track and this time when I looked for information I didn't just find the track, I found a video for the remix, labled a Timbaland remix, on MTV.

Could MTV have gotten it wrong? They must have I thought, there's no way this is a Timbaland beat. So I continued my digging and found out that the track is being released on a new all spanish Beyonce EP called Irremplazable and that Walmart would be selling the CD with an exclusive DVD that had the Timbaland remix on it on August 28th. After more digging, yes it was true I found the CD on Walmart's website but the track listing did not include any mention of the Timbaland remix. So MTV did get it wrong........or did they?

Continuing with my digging, I found the "Express Pack" (whatever that means) of the EP on Walmart's website that did indeed list the Timbaland remix. So that should be enough right? There's the facts right there on Walmart's site and there's the album ready to be pre-ordered with the Timbo remix so it looks like I missed a very big Tim track. Actually let's look at the proof, here's the Timbaland remix video for Beyonce's "Irreplacable" featuring Voltio.

BUT WAIT come on now that would be too easy, it's The Chronicles we love conspiracy theories....

So here are my questions: Is the Voltio remix done by Timbaland? True Voltio was worked with Beyonce before on her "Check On It" remix but why doesn't his website or myspace have any mention of the remix? You're an artist who just did a remix with Beyonce and Timbaland, wouldn't you have that type of promotion front and center on everything especially with the release of the EP only days away??

The real twist though is that there is another remix to this track featuring Fabolous that sounds exactly like the Voltio remix. On some sites the Fab featured remix is listed as the Timbaland remix and on some it's the Voltio one. There's even a slightly different video for the Fab remix than the one featuring Voltio. How did Voltio get on the official release of the remix but not a more established artist like Fab? Why is neither Fab or Voltio in the video rather just rhyming on it?

Straight up: I don't think Tim did the remix despite what is being said all over the net including MTV, Walmart, etc. This seems a bit odd to me and you know how much I love a good mystery. It looks as though on August 28th I'll be heading to Walmart and buying the CD/DVD and seeing what the liner notes have to say. Maybe I'll be eating my words we'll see. What do you all think?

  1. Those are Timbos drums and drum sequencing, Regardless whether you like it or not. Its not that bad and it does sound like Timbo a little bit in the melody

  4. One of the biggest in the latin market? Hmm interesting. If he's that big why isn't he in the video? Definitely fair enough arguements though, it's appreciated.

maybe that's why this remix got the Timbaland label.

  13. Timbo did never diss reggeaton, neither did D.O.E....they made fun of scott storch because he couldn't come with some real rap-artist to make his "anti-timbo" track...
so there's nothin ironic to it....

  16. "irremplazable" is the name of beyonce's spanish album.

i'm with you, boog, i don't think that's timbo either. it doesn't matter how big voltio is in the latin market. beyonce's single is being promoted in the pop market, so voltio means nothing.
