"Give It To Me" sample

Your boy Big A in tha house. Did I already say that I love this fuckin blog? :)

This time we gonna do it a bit different. I want you to give your opinion on this soundtrack piece from 1985 (I will give details about this track later).
Did Tim sample or interpolate this respectively for "Give It To Me"?

sample/interpolation or not?

  1. WHOA! What are those? steel drums? they sound nuts..

i could totally hear how tim might have used that melody as an interpolation.. but knowing tim's ear for chopping samples and rearranging the notes.. it could very well be that he chopped those and filtered them.. that's just my initial guess.

    good find!!

  2. The only sample I can hear in "give it to me" is the flute..and this melody from the soundtrack doesn't sound nothin alike to tims flute on give it to me..i don't see where this is goin, i don't see how it could be a interpolation either to be honest but somebody enlighten me

  6. This one is a tuffy. If you play one over the other you will find that thier tempo is almost the same. It might be interpolated, but i dont think its possible to tell.

  7. nope, i don't believe it was. the flute in "give it to me" has a very common and simple riff. that sample is dope as hell though!

  9. I am a music producer. I tell you this melody is a played by a piano. Tims song is played by a synth. Therefore it cant be a sample. As for the interpolation, i say no. It's too far fetched. You can find hundreds of songs that "reminds" of this song.

  10. ^Agreed. It's not like the synth in "Give It To Me" is something difficult to come up with.

  11. "Give It To Me" sounds a bit similar to D.O.E.'s "Mash It Up". Of course, both are Timbo tracks.

  12. i dont think it really sounds lyk it. but i agree with it sounding a bit lyk DOE mash it up

  13. I think any similarity is just coincidence. In fact, the melody reminds me more of the synth that opens We Takin' Over. Could just be that Danja played them both and is part of his propensity to play certain kinds of melodies.

  14. there's not even a question this track was some very heavy inspiration for danja on we takin over, just listen to that opening melody.

  15. ^What are you talking about? You don't even know for a fact which track was made first. And really there could be no relation b/t the two. They're VERY BASIC melodies that anyone who writes music could come up w/ without hearing either track. WTF...

  16. Yeah Justin, it sounds like the synth from Khaled's "We Takin' Over"..
