  1. Can sum1 explain what is the difference and why one exists? Like, why isn't everyone under one publishing company or whatever. I always thought that ASCAP was America's standard publishing company. I never really knew there was sucha distinction.

  2. That's like asking why there isn't one healthcare plan for us all. Variety is the spice of life.

Anyway, I don't see why Danja's receiving credit at a 2008 awards show for songs released in 2006. He's come up with much better material since then. No mention of Katharine McPhee's songs? I guess it's because they weren't singles; but, shame, SESAC.

  6. those publishing companies collect your performance royalty money..each company has its own way to do so but in similar fashion.bmi..asap...sesac..i like bmi cuz they interact with their writers and producers thru various siminars and panels in atlanta..also they have hot showcases...

  7. also they collect money from radio airplay thats why a song may have came out in 2006 but still got major spins in 2007...so you win awards by how hot was your song on radio.how many spins so on and so on

  8. last if you created the track then thats 50% writer credits so danja did write

  9. for the dumb anonymous person who tried to claim danja doesn't wriet anything he does, he is getting credited for writing the music jack ass. Sesac ascap and bmi aren't publishing companys all they do is collecting peoples royalties for song . Do some research before

srsly, these "writing credits" are just beats right? does he do any lyric or melody writing?

  11. Thx to those who answered me.... ealier I was going to ask people not to get stupid with me and act as if its obvious, but i assumed that there weren't any jackasses on this MB lol.

I have a better understandin of the publishing company thing now. Thx again.

  12. Just one precision for the person who states that Danja didn't write the lyrics. Actually you right that he didn't write the lyrics, for example neither him or Timbo penned something like "What goes around...", it's Justin himself who write all his songs.
But the fact is that the only persons who receives royalties from songs are the songwriters. So in the pop music today the ones who makes the beat and produce the music are credited as "songwriters" to perceive the royalties. An example is Tim who won the ASCAP songwriter of the year but in his own album, he hired Attitude to write his verses !

    I hope everyone's OK now.

  13. ok...wow lots of tension here so neways...i dont understand why he got all of those awards for "Danjahandz Muzik" i mean i can understand he wants to represent but lets not forget he is signed to Mosley Music Group and the people who did these songs hired Timbaland to drop the beat therefore its a "Mosley Music Group Production"...after all Danja was a co-producer for all of these beats not the main producer so i dont see how he won...i mean im happy for him but Timbo has the main credits for all of these songs...i dont see how he did not get the awards...

  14. DAnja isn't signed 2 MMG

  15. His songs are published under Danjahandz Music. How hard is that to understand? And there are differences between ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. You choose which one you feel will work best for you. Simple as that. And obviously Danja has writing credits if he's writing the damn music, vocal melodies and lyrics included or not.

  17. ASCAP, BMI and SESAC are NOT publishing companies!!! They run as performing rights organizations. huge difference. They don't shop Danja's catalogue, that's part of his management and publisher - which is Warner Chappell

  18. danja is wack, why y'all doin all this kinda coaxing?

    ReplyDelete
  19. jermaine dupri is black trash

    ReplyDelete
  20. but thats the thing...they arent "his" songs they are all timbos thats whats incredible timbo did the songs and is the main person credited but he gets the award...thats whack!

  21. ^Tim is not part of SESAC. These are the SESAC awards. Very simple concept.

  22. I'd say congrats to both tim and danja and who ever else that wrote
