Cop That Disc: Tiffany Evans Tiffany Evans

The long awaited debut album from Tiffany Evans is in stores and online today so make sure to get your copy. The album features The Clutch on writing duties for 3 tracks:

"About A Boy" (produced by Eric Hudson)

"Promise Ring" (produced by Mr. Collipark)

and after 3 versions prior that have all come out this last year, The Clutch and Brian Kidd give us the final version of my favorite Kidd beat to date, the bangin':

"Girl Gone Wild"

Thankfully he went with the original snippet and added a lot more sounds. Check the end with the "mama said mama said" sample. So are we hearing the Timbaland influence on Kidd or did Kidd influence Timbo? The debate rages on...

  1. When people hear that beat they don't go oh thats a brian kidd production they assume its tim. I would say Tim influenced kidd and a whole lot of others his style changes like every year while the one previously used producers start to bite the old one.

  2. A clear bite but i like it because its as close as we can get to hearing the old tim.

  3. i would say, kidd sucks.. so it doesnt matter.

  4. Its a who knows thing right now. Listen to Kevin Michael - Liquid Lava Love, Floetry - Say Yes (Remix)(Yes Kidd produced that remix), The Lox - Ryde or Die Bitch, Enrique Iglesias - Do You Know (Ping Pong Song).... dude has variety for days. Brian Kidd is such a mystery that basically only the artists and writers he works with knows who he is. Rich Boy wouldn't say nothing about him and J. Que keeps telling me that dude loves his secrecy.

  5. does it really matter either way? every beat i've heard from this dude sucks, this one's no exception. even his supposed ghost-beat for Tim in "Ryde or Die" isn't good.

  6. I'm surprised and not surprised he hasn't blown up yet but its obvious why. You don't see Danja biting tim when he goes solo its totally different style as danja's skills are keys and synths thats what i like. Do something different that not even Tim, who's genius is from somewhere else, hasn't done yet.

  7. ^^ very true.

Danja has a very unique sound that can't be compared to Tim's.

He has a completely different approach to composing chord progressions and melodies.

Although, sometimes his drums sound a little thin.

Kidd has some dope tracks but you barely see his shit anywhere. He is a great example of how having incredible connects doesn't guarantee success.

  9. @peoplelikemyself
so what exactly sucks about him?? I don't get it. You must have access to music out of this world that nobody ever heard huh?

Polow Da Don's engineer confirmed that Brian Kidd showed Tim (and Polow) the Neko and Brian seems to be a great engineer as well.

  10. Im pretty sure all three are by this point apart of the process one here could ask longtime tim engineer Jimmy D who introduced what to tim better than polow's engineer.I love it this debate instigated by Boog lets have at it lol

  11. big-a... simply put, i dont like his beats. they're always boring to me, and sorta corny.

  13. I agree with anonymous and I am > you.

Danja's been able to garner success and mould a pretty nice career because he's distinguised himself from Tim. He's all about the synth, keys and melodies. You can hear a joint on the radio and say "Danja did that!" or "Tim did that, but I bet Danja did that bit there". Brian Kidd's beats sound like Tim beats. If I hadn't been told otherwise I would've thought "Girl gone wild" was a sole Timbo beat.

The song is still hot though. It sounds much better than the leaked version. The drums are dirty as hell! :D

  14. i think brian kidd = timbo's alter ego

  15. I agree with random j you can tell the difference between tim and danja when they produce together they off-set each others weaknesses and you can tell most of the time who did what. Danja then tim ushered in all this techno/house music everyone is hearing all over the charts and radio. Kidd is running with one of tim's old style of beats which everyone loved with the beatswitches, breakdowns crazy off kilter drum patterns but was to complicated for the masses, almost why Danja is getting placed he got his own style and kidd is every so often gets on a major project.

  16. Everyone has their opinions.

I don't like what I've heard from this Brian Kidd dude. Sounds like he is biting Timbaland hard, really hard. Danja was Tim's protege, that is a huge reason why you hear Timbaland in Danja's productions.

Yes, besides the live drums Danja uses, his bass drums are majority weak.

Me?... 95% inspired by Timbaland. My first track I made was a replica of "Bounce" off of SV. I don't copy him anymore... I've learned a lot from his music, and hopefully in the near future I can learn a lot from him and Danja personally!

  17. Kidd is inspired my Timbo. Timbo had drum patterns like that BEFORE Kidd. Stop reaching J Boogie.

  18. ^^^Way before and you got to remember there is probably a whole bunch of crazy beats timbo got in a vault with drum patterns like that. Remember how he said in the recent throwback interview how we thought Pony was new at the time it was already like 4 years old and was already looking for a new style to use.

  19. yeah for Tim and the urban music world it was new, but not to Afrian, Indian, Brazilian people...

    ReplyDelete
  20. who don't listen to hip hop and music the same way we listen to it.

  21. @Big-A whether it was a style that was used big African, Indian or Brazillians is irrelevant. Tim is the one responsible for introducing to urban music... NOT Brian Kidd. Brian Kidd is the shadow of Tim's past.

  22. If I was Brian Kidd, I would seriously stop producing such Timbo-esque beats. Even if he DID influence Timbaland (Which I *very* highly doubt), the fact is, hardly anyone has even heard of this dude. If he had made himself known before Timbaland, we'd be having an entirely different debate right now. However, Timbaland's the one we all know as the originator of this sound.

It just seems silly for a relatively unknown producer to carry on churning out these kind of beats when all the majority of the public will hear is "yet another Tim beat-biter." Even if he IS the one responsible for this sound, he's kept himself in the shadows far too long for anyone to believe that to be true.

  23. ^and that's the best arguement I've ever heard on the subject. Thanks for posting magicpuppy...

  24. I could agree with Magicpuppy assessment if i was the originator of the style tim fan or not i would say at least something to that effect and get my name out there.

  25. Anybody who uses other artist's style in order to sell to me is just plain (as Missy put it), "Beat Biting".

I don't like Brian Kidd for biting, but my concern is this.

"Chris Brown - Forever" produced by Polow Da Don. It contains beats similar to Timbaland and Synth similar to Danja (Ayo technology synth) and melody.

Btw. The Lox - Ride or Die B*tch WAS produced by Timbaland. It's even mentioned on Wikipedia.

In conclusion, we see that people are loosing creativity. Danja and the pro Timbo have again changed the course of music and now people such as Polow and Brian Kidd are in the bandwagon (or still riding the outdated train)? They should in effect, Grow up!!!
