Danity Kane vs. Gino Marinuzzi Jr.

So I was listening to some older horror movie soundtrack compilations two days ago and came across a track off the movie "Planet Of The Vampires (1965)". Guess what I discovered. Nah, no Timbo sample this time. I might have discovered the first Danjahandz sample/interpolation. And please don't tell your boy Big A now he is wrong...

Danity Kane feat. Missy Elliott "Bad Girl"

Gino Marinuzzi Jr. "Opening Titles"

  1. Danja has sampled quite a few times before, but in his earlier days - now he doesn't really. As for this sample, I see the similarities but I'm skeptical for the moment

  2. Reaching

It's just another off key melody.

  3. good imagination, but you're wrong.
this is just what we musicians call an arrpegio. and its an arpegio played on a synth. fairly common.

  4. hm. the similarities are also there for me. keep the feedback comin

  5. Nice try, but you're also wrong

It's not an arpeggio either, technically notes in an arpeggio must belong to the same chord, these clearly don't.

  6. You guys really want to act like they are nothing alike?

    I'd say SAMPLE

  7. seems like he sample but added a filter or some kind of "FX" that altered the sample.... good one !

  12. In my humble opinion: It can't be denied there are strong similarities between the two songs - to me, danja took the original version and altered it a bit, like pitching it up. Therefore: let's call it a SAMPLE!! :) Haters back off plz, show respect where respect is due

  13. might i ask what the fuck interpolation is?

  14. An interpolation is when something is replayed or resung based on a sample. In other words not a direct sample. Perfect example T.I.'s "What you know..." It utilizes an interpolation of Roberta Flack's version of The Impressions's "Gone Away"

  15. Danja has sampled many times...and video games for example...just look at the song "cocky" ft freeway by cali styles....clearly samples the song in super contra for super nintendo on the second board when you fight the end boss....listen for yourself....

  16. it doesn't hit the same notes as danja's or in the same sequence so its definitely not the sample.

just sounds like a random arp'd sfx sequence . . randomly played notes with a couple filters on it.

i got a few synths that have similar fx pads and sequences.

  17. For the one saying "technically notes in an arpeggio must belong to the same chord", please don't speak if you have no idea what you're talking about.

Arpegiators can be a combination of whatever notes you want. You just hold down which ever keys you want on your keyboard to make a sequense.

No it's not SAMPLED, anyone can tell that. - Especially since the horror song have a bass/low octave pad in the background.
However it might be a sample from a sample cd, or a preset or anything from a synth/keyboard.
Shit like that it ain't hard to do, especially on a synth like the Virus or the Andromeda... Two synths I know Nate is using.
Those synths probably have FX lines like that in their preset bank.

Some of you people crack me up, please don't try to lecture other's when you obviously have no idea what you're talking about what so ever.
Sometimes it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

    Argument done.

  19. Wow juse because you find an internet source saying something it means it's true?

Have you actually ever touched a keyboard/synth?
If you've actually used an arpegioator to make an arpegio you'll understand that you can hold down whatever keys you want.
Shit you "can even" do that with software.

  20. um... arps are broken chords. That is the meaning of it. But then you must understand, that there are chords that sound off...

    ReplyDelete
  21. ok anyway, this is clearly not the sample. the one from the movie is totally different in the order of sounds. there are tons of records with sounds like this..

  22. If you could actually find an internet source to the contrary then maybe you'd actually have an argument.

Yes i've touched a keyboard synth, and you can use an arpeggio to do anything that doesn't neccesarily make the resulting sound an arpeggio... You can put a chicken in a smoothie maker but that don't really make it a smoothie..

And if we're talking about chords that sound off, a chord is the harmonic function of a group of notes, I don't think random notes in a chromatic scale really have a harmonic function.

As far as i'm concerened, it's just a melody, that repeats itself.

  23. Similar, but I'm not quite sure that it's the sample. "Bad Girls" actually has a similar synth (maybe sped up and pitched) with that shawn maxim track "pimps up."

  24. Alot of you are missing out on a lil something
a sample doesnt always consist of an exact replica of sound

it can mean ... something that sounds remotely like it or in the same style
