Cassie "Official Girl"

We heard what we can assume is the demo and now here is the real thing:

Cassie "Official Girl"

The timing seems a little ironic that a day later we get to hear the Cassie version but you can never predict a leak. This will be her official first single confirmed by her blog. Also my mistake on the writing credits, this track is obviously written by The Clutch.

Now that we've heard both, which do you think is better?

  1. both are a let down. that beat is to thin and sparse for someone whose vocal capabilities share the same characteristics.

when i say let down, i'm not saying either one of these tracks are bad but a lot more was expected.

  3. Karina, but I do have to admit that Cassie didn't fuck it up this time. She did get "better". I expected worse

  4. Karina is obviously a better singer... but Cassies version is muccccch better. From a vocal producer's standpoint... its cleaner and the harmonies are more together... The new lyrics even fir the theme of the song better.

  5. Karina is the better singer. Cassie owns this track though. She did get better. But what the hell was Nate doing just working on the drums only? I need some more synths, real instruments, something! The track is to thin. Come on Nate!

Cassie is much more clearer. thing is, she has more of a "mainstream" voice than Karina. Hers is to thick, and it can get boring very quickly. Take a look at Alicia Keys, Beyonce, etc...

  6. can't wait for the acapella so i can remix this. pretty boring on the beat side i liked sometimes better and i rarely like ryan leslie over danja.

  7. cassie version sounds like a clean ass demo......karina killed it...danja most likely sold it to puff cuz karina hadnt either paid for it or wasnt using it as a single...producers have deals where if u promise to use a single and dont they can get the song back and re sell it.....there are various business situations where artist have recorded the same songs..its also a producers plot to put a artist on a track..then say well they bout to use it..but if you pay me more than what they did u can have it....so i hope that gives u a insight to the various situations that could have happened..........multi platinum certified producer kurt kobane

  8. As a listener, this track is growing on me like hell. As a producer, simple and clean, a little bland.

Cassie's version owns that other girl. Cassie will sel more records because she has a Poppy voice, that other girl doesn't.

    This is a great track!

  14. I prefer cassie! Her voice is more smooth and cute

I think this track is pretty sick. The more u listen to it the more u appreciate this track. Nice slow tempo beat and danja yet again produces the right sounds. nice track!

i also prefer Cassie version. Antares heavy but what isn't these days..

Cassie version sounds like a clean pop song, Karina's sounds like an R&B song with a girl doing too many vocal acrobatics.

Danja loves that lead sound he uses at the end with the lil counter melody.

    Exactly.

That sound is also in the chorus. A glitched 8 bit sounding synth. Like Megaman sound a little.

  17. He pulled it out a few times with Katherine McPhee. (that sentence is open for innuendo if anybody feels inclined to jump in) haha.

This song isn't doing so much for me after a few listens. I think Danity Kane got the best of Danja this year.. either that or he set the bar so high that anything less is dismissed now?

  18. :D fuego, yous a fool boy! :D

he pulled it out, but what guy wouldn't on both these girls? The synth... :D

I like it. Even though I'm a producer, I just listen as a regular listener and fan. :)

Can we agree that her voice did change for the better?

  19. once again, Danja proves he ain't shit without Timbo, with a few exceptions. beat is like budget Pharrell with bad Timbo-knockoff drums.

  20. Vocals:
Karina: Its proven that she can actually "sing" lol. The strength of her voice although felt heavy on the beat but she did give a hell of a lot more emotion as lyrics like this should. it may jus be me though.

Cassie: I personally felt this song fits her jus because her vocals are a lil more "airy" and the beat is not complicated like danja's usual joints otherwise cassie would be lost in the beat. Perfect choice for her easy.

Beat/Instrumental: Not the usual Danja i expect but then again he tends to completely change wut we expect from him on a regular basis. Very simple and to the point. Precise but not necessarily the "jump-out-of-your-seat" feeling.

Overall: out of 5 stars i'd give it a 3 1/2. Maybe its jus a chemistry thang but i dont know how much chemistry you get when it "seems" like the beat was past around. Who knows? Look it up Boog!!!! lol
